Royal Enfield Super meteor 650 "Test Ride"

- Yer turns up at Motorcycle live, and head over to the test ride corner and pick yourself a bike. In my case I chose the Super Meteor. I knew it's weight was the same as my Kawasaki, had a quarter of the power, and the seat height was around four inches lower. You prove you're alcohol free, get into their provided motorcycle gear, get the safety talk and rules of the ride, then go sit on your chosen bike. Suddenly you have ter figure out where everything is and how it all works..

I liked the Continental GT but due to the bar positions would have preferred the Interceptor which I imagine would give you a great seating position. I was really impressed by the Royal Enfieids. They are great value.
You rode the Interceptor?
@@rayjones4115 no that wouldn’t start so I took the Continental GT out. Basically same engine as the Interceptor but more upright riding position. I thought it was great.
They do a touring version of the super meteor with luggage and a screen. It looks like a very capable machine.
At 5' 4" with a 27.5 inseam I felt the forward controls were out of my reach.
I did take out the 350 HNTR for a test ride and placed the order the same day.
I have just finished the running in period with no regrets. I think the build quality of the Enfield's has come a long way.

Hi ray been watching you now for a number of years. I have been a sports bike rider for 45 years i am 65 now and have been having the same issues as you with neck and shoulders i still have my sports bike which is a suzuki gsxr 1000 k6 which i love but i have now bought a suzuki gsxs 1000 f which has made a very big difference to my riding no more neck pain from raising my head up also my shoulders feel better as i now ride in an upright position so no need to think about giving up riding. Morning Ray, so you dipped a toe into the world of the cruiser. Could this be the start of a new “Easy Rider” you..? I can just see it, Peter Fonda Dennis Hopper and Ray Jones riding into the sunset..!
Joking aside, once you get used to the feet forward position, they are really comfortable to ride and being low means an easy flat foot on the ground at the lights no matter the surface conditions. 👍
I love my Kawasaki and wouldn't part with it if it is at all possible to continue riding it. HOWEVER, If it can't be done, then the Super Meteor would likely solve a lot of issues in terms of herniated disks and elderly feebleness.. 😂😂😂😂

Hi Ray, I cannot comment on the bike but I can on the neck issues. I ended up having my neck fused which took care of some issues but, as you've experienced, cranking your head back can be painful. Yiur neck shoulders, and back can tighten up to the point you really don't want to ride. What did I do? Just what you're thinking of doing. I went with an upright cruiser with mid-mount controls and yes it takes some getting used to the controls but now it's all good. I'm 65 and found the lower seat height very convenient. I do not use a windshield as I find being a "sail in the wind" actuall relaxed my neck and shoulders by keeping things stretched out but that's just me. I'm so glad you're looking for a way to keep riding.
Thanks for watching... I don't wanna part with my Kawasaki, so I'll persevere, but keep an eye on alternatives just in case. I don't wanna imagine a time without a bike.. 👍👍
I enjoy your video.i have sold my nc750x dct. But come across this bike. Love the look of it. I be down to my dealer. Haven't got on in at the moment . Hope this week. Her in doors has said just go and buy one . Fingers crossed mate.

Hi ray. Just to let you know. I have been down to my local dealer. Put down a deposit for the royal Enfield super meteor 650 .it will be a 24plate bike. Can't wait till march.

Enjoyed that Ray,sounds like a cracking little bike,but i think you'll definitely miss the power,i went from a Blade to a BMW F650GS similar reasons,back,neck,wrists,the bike was as comfy as an old sofa,but it would'nt pull the proverbial,anyway good luck with your search mate,,,Baza

Hi Baza, I'd want to keep my Kawasaki, and would only swap it if I really couldn't ride it... If push comes to shove, I might have to get used to enjoying the scenery, so long as it's from the seat of a bike. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
