He is absolutely beautiful. Also you are not replacing Kong. Think about it like this... Even with human children, they advise you to have at least two children. Just incase, God forbids something happens to one of your kids you have the other to help ease the pain and to make you feel like you still have a purpose and didnt lose everything etc.
So getting another dog could be the same. You said you were feeling lonely and probably very depressed from the hearbreak. So this could be a great decision for you and not in any way "replacing" Kong or being disrespectful to his memory. Kong will forever be loved and never forgotten. And will always have a place in your heart. And so will this new dog. But the new dog will never take that place from Kong.

There is nothing wrong with getting another dog. I strongly believe that dogs, cats or pets, in general, are here for us. They make us feel way better. I am glad you have chosen to take this step. I have lost many pets in my lifetime, and getting another pet really does help. Nobody will ever forget Kong, but love this dog as much as you did Kong.

i remember when my dog who was 115 in dog years, her name was dixie and she passed away. nothing could ever replace her. she is my baby. but, we did get a new dog, but he will never replace dixie lyn.
I know the feeling. I have two dogs that I have had since they were pups. One of them is older than the other and I'm trying not to think about when it might be his last day. He still has the energy of a pup but he's not as quirky as he used to be. The only thing that would make it better are the memories I've had with them.
