  • Wal-Mart is coming in with some banger deals! Cyberpower is a long time seller at Wal-Mart and they used a classic combo that we love here: the Ryzen 7600 and RX 7600. This combo at just $899 is actually cheaper than we can build it ourselves….. But is it worth buying this prebuilt?

    Walmart buys things in bulk, and they get huge discounts. Thus, they could afford to build PCs, sell at relatively low price, and still make a profit.

    I have an older CyberpowerPC I picked up on Marketplace for $125 with a decent monitor, KBB and mouse. I checked, it was sold in 2018, with an AMD FX 8650, and RX 550 2GB. I intended to flip it, but two years later I still have it. I put in a 1060 6GB, and it is a very reliable PC, it just keeps chugging along. It is well built in a Phanteks case. I really should sell it, I dont need it, it is a bit limited for gaming, but I just like it.

      What CPU does it have? I have an i7 8700k and GTX 1060 6GB that I paid $300 for as part of a build in 2023. Mine also came with 16GB of DDR4 RAM, a Corsair H100i 240mm AIO cooler, and an open air case that has 7 RGB fans. It didn't come with the PSU or any storage but I already had those on hand from a previous build. I did buy a 1TB NVME M.2 SSD to add to the total storage. It's still a good PC. If I upgrade the GPU then I can probably keep the PC for a few more years. What would be the best GPU to pair with the i7 8700k?

      Ive just sold my AMD FX 8350 PC today, it had a GeForce 1050ti graphics in it, 120Gb SSD and 1Tb WD Blue HDD, played all the games I wanted to play. Only sold it as the FX CPU is not supported by Windows 11 and its a power hog, though I had about 10 good years out of it. Got a Beelink SER5 to replace it (Ryzen 5 5650, 16Gb Ram), which does all the games I play as well (Mainly World Of Warships, Borderlands, New World).

      used to have one just like it. swapped out the red light fans for blue ones, upgraded the cooler and processor to an FX 8370. I also upgraded to a 1060 (3 GB sadly) because it was during the 2017 mining craze. i sold it on marketplace 4 years ago to a guy for dirt cheap. almost hated to see it go. mostly because it was my only pc left at the time. I'm back up these days though.

    I'm an Electronics Team Lead for a Walmart in NC. Most of our gaming PCs are sold at a small loss. The hope I'd customers will buy other things when they purchase a gaming PC, like headset, mic, etc. Also, a lot of Walmarts just added PC components to in store. That stuff we do make money on. Just thought I'd share. Cheers.

    Years ago I used to be a department manager for Walmart, they actually do intentionally lose money on alot of items. It's to bring people into the store to buy other potentially higher margin items. It's what makes Walmart rek the competition, Target for example is simply not willing to lose money on any product, Walmart is. Black Friday was pretty much straight loss for alot of stuff but it brought customers into the store to sign up for the Walmart credit card, Walmart+, etc etc.

    What is old is new again. I know that back in the 90's there were a lot of people making prebuilt PCs, the big guys (Micron, Compaq, Dell, Gateway 2000, Insight), but dozens of little guys. The market was very, very competitive, and the price of a prebuilt was normally a couple hundred dollars less than you could build the same PC for, and they all used off-the shelf parts, so you could easily upgrade them as needed. Eventually some left the PC business to focus on other lines (Micron), some are gone (Gateway 2000), some put their main emphasis on service or specialty PCs, and got way from price competition (Insight), and some moved away from off-the-shelf parts to lock buyers into getting parts from them (Dell, Compaq). Now we are seeing the same thing again, very competitive prices from some that put the price of a prebuilt under the price you can build it for yourself, while other builders specialize on distinctive specialty PCs where volume is lower but profit margins are higher.

  • @hoderharris
    @hoderharris Před 2 měsíci +1

    In the early 90’s Walmart began to lose market share to Target , Sears, Circuit City etc..and saw a lower profit margin on items like tv’s and other appliances they relied on to make money for them. This started to happen because of competition from other big box stores and the American manufacturers they were using at the time began to raise their wholesale prices for various reasons.
    Walmart in order to keep its profit margins as high as they previously had been, pivoted and started a very aggressive and controversial buying strategy in China. Walmart executives in Beijing would bring in two or three suppliers of the same product, lets say pencils, put the suppliers in the same room and have them bid against each other to provide the lowest bulk and wholesale prices to Walmart.
    The “winners” of these brutal and stressful bid wars often would end up quoting a price in which they would either break even or lose money in the manufacturing process. The idea being if they could get their foot in the door of Walmart, Walmart might reward the company later during a different bid. Walmart however, never rewarded the Chinese manufacturers and in order to pay for the low bid Chinese worker salaries were cut….
    American consumers could brag that they saved 10 cents on a package of pencils or 2 dollars on a TV as compared to what Sears , Target, Circuit CIty, Best Buy etc etc charged them…Walmarts cut throat business practices also destroyed American manufacturers of TVs and other electronics and appliances as they simply could not compete with the cheap Chinese goods. To this day there are still no tvs made in the US and very few washers and dyers if any……
    All this is to say, that the cheap price point for the gaming computer that you are wondering about is most likely made in China by a company that was willing to lose money on each unit hoping they would one day win the favor of Walmart for other products they make..The makers of the computer however, will never win favor with Walmart and Walmart will just find another cheap maker of gaming computers if they have to do so…..

    Heya @ToastyBros , the stuttering you're getting in FPS games you mentioned in this video is likely due to having Frame Generation Technology enabled, not the single stick of RAM. Frame Gen introduces input lag as the GPU is creating a frame to insert in-between two frames the CPU has created, there by delaying the input request you have made. Keep Frame Gen off in FPS games when benchmarking to provide an accurate picture of the system performance, not an inflated fps average at the cost of latency.

    Cyberpower usually gets some of their parts in bulk from express and as of the time of writing, a 7600 goes for $130-140 "new" for YOU AND I type of customer(s) and you can have a discount code of $10-15. In bulk the discount and pricing is much better, specially for a company like Wal-Mart or brand like Cyberpower. The ram is also not that good, specially with 1 stick and the motherboard is the biggest let down here; upgrade path is very limited.

    I literally just put together a p.c. In part picker for $898 and it has a 7600 and a 7700xt. Case is the Deepcool cc560, power supply is 600watt thermal take smart, drive is a pci 3.0 verbatim vi3000 512 gb nvme ssd, ram is teamgroup elite plus 16gb 5600mhz with cl40, and the motherboard is msi pro b650m-p micro atx. That is why you would build your own p.c. It still is a lot better than buying prebuilts. This is assuming that you are capable/actually want to build a p.c. Question. You mention on this video and other videos about pc's coming with only 1 stick of RAM, but it's DDR5. Maybe I need to do some additional research, but DDR5 is supposed to be dual channel on each stick. So, the old through process of needing 2 DIMM's no longer applies. I know you said there were some stutters, but I wonder if there would have been stutters at the same points even with 2 DIMMs.
    Also that cooler....I have used it in several builds. I really like that cooler.

    • @malvinchau2056
      @malvinchau2056 Před 2 měsíci +1

      It does indeed mitigate the drawbacks of having just one stick, but in the end, it's still one stick. You'll still be bottlenecked by your ram no matter what latency or speed. AM5 and LGA1700 socket cpus are powerful and require dual channel ram to perform properely.

    • @drewlogan4341
      @drewlogan4341 Před 2 měsíci +2

      AMD CPU like a lot of bandwidth especially for ram. The point of dual channel is to give the CPU more bandwidth and reduce stuttering that will be noticed as a lag spikes. And to be honest a CPU is cooled enough as long as it's still boosting as normal.

      @MrBottlecapBill Před 27 dny

      Solutions to Fix Error Code 43:
      Update Graphics Drivers: Ensure that your graphics drivers are up-to-date. You can do this by visiting the manufacturer’s website and downloading the latest drivers.
      Roll Back Drivers: If updating the drivers doesn’t work, try rolling back to a previous version of the drivers.
      Disable and Re-enable the Graphics Card: Disable the graphics card and then re-enable it to see if it resolves the issue.
      Uninstall and Reinstall Graphics Drivers: Uninstall the graphics drivers and then reinstall them.
      Check for Hardware Issues: Check for any physical damage or issues with the graphics card.
      Run a System File Checker (SFC) Scan: Run a System File Checker (SFC) scan to check for any corrupted system files.
      Reset Windows to a Previous Point: If none of the above solutions work, you can try resetting Windows to a previous point when the error was not occurring.
      Replace the Graphics Card: If all else fails, you may need to replace the graphics card.

    In short your sacrificing
    Ram which will have a noticeable performance loss and studders
    CPU temps wich will cause early CPU failure and performance loss and studders
    Motherboard not much of a performance impact but the CPU might have issues with getting enough power in the long run which can cause funky behavior and a cheap motherboard will limit upgrades and subtract from the quality of life type stuff
    The power supply is actually likely fine but I would upgrade if you are putting more than a 200ish watt GPU because of potential fire hazards
    Honestly not too bad, you can certainly get worse value

    Some people have to buy a piece at a time, and can't really drop 800 buck at once. That is where the DIY wins out. For instance, my son is buying his parts one by one and I will build it for him. He has a mortgage to pay, so his only all at once option would be for me to buy it for him. He's over 30, so that ain't happening.
