Personally I would define your podcast as "just some friends on a couch talking about stuff they like and/or are emotional about" and I love it. It is so honest and casual that it feels like a chill night out with the boys!
Shoutout to my man Louis Rossmann for fighting for the people's Right to Repair.
I've been OneWheeling since early to mid 2020. Started with the Pint, now a GT, I've had no issues with either board. Love the board, hate the RTR position.
Voiding the warranty because you opened the box is not just bad, it's illegal, but it does require you to get a lawyer to make it right.
45:30 Louis Rossmann's videos with repair companies that specialize in repairing them were eye opening. The companies and people interviewed were Mario's Board Garage with Mario Contino and Fiction Faction Boardworks with Josh Haley. Opening is not proof according to the FTC and could be countered in a class action. Future Motion has to prove that you broke it in order to void the warranty.
I would own a onewheel if it wasn't for their strong anti repair stance. Hopefully they get some competition in the space.
To be fair they are under a lot of pressure from lawsuits and letting people change their one wheels and therefore increase their odds of injuries and then facing class actions
Starting a GoFundMe for Wren to get some milk. With the inflation costs for a gallon of milk, he needs our help. Clearly this man needs some calcium.
“He need som’ meeulk”
Ironically I broke most of my bones during the time in my life when I drank the most milk
@@SirWrender Then I suppose I’m all out of ideas 😂 thanks for taking the time to reply! I hope you heal up quickly and get back to your one wheel adventures sooner rather than later.
@@LtDanAndFam Thanks! And I actually never stopped my one wheeling haha. I've put over a hundred miles on my board since I broke my hand lol. That ain't stopping me!!!
@@SirWrender Your persistence and dedication to one wheeling is impressive. I have an idea… when the third season of Son of a Dungeon is in production, (fingers crossed for a third season 🤞), take a slight break from your one wheel until someone else inevitably breaks a bone. Let them carry the burden next time lol
@@LtDanAndFam He'd just break a bone doing something else! 😆 *hopefully not though!*
I'm with Louis Rossmann when it comes to Future Motion and I'm glad we have him speaking up.
Please make a full episode and video on the VESC! It’s so important that you guys articulate these important details in this podcast format. And you guys making a video about vesc will really push it into mainstream
Thanks for the shout guys! Motors incoming..
hell yeah!!!! We're so excited for them! Even with the XR motors our boards (which we just got up and running over the weekend) are pure tractor crawlers. I can't wait to see how the new motors do!
Much respect has been earned, being honest and open about current and past dealings with a company that gives free products like that. You could just hide it and shape your own narrative, but allowing (even if biased) truth to be told is important. Keep it up, looking forward to a future where dead XR’s gain an entirely new upgraded life thanks to VESC.
I bought my first xr in 2018 because of Wren. I bought a plus and another xr shortly after. You're definitely their best sales rep. If anybody understands the lifestyle of this new board sport, Wren's the guy. I hope you guys start amplifying the VESC movement. If it's easy enough I might get into it and build my own. Future motion will not get another dollar from me until they rectify their mistakes.
To straight up put anti repair measures is scummy, letting the user know they are voiding their warranty should be enough. If they want to fix it or if they destroy their board is completely on the user. It's not a rental, they own it.
Opening a product does not void warranties and is against US law to implement. Unfortunately, the only way to counter it is by lawsuit.
Wren is such an amazing person, I hate to see him getting hurt so much but I'm glad to see him keeping a positive attitude as always! I might be 26 but I look up to him in hopes that I can maintain such a positive attitude in my life! :D
Bravo for not letting all the injuries stop you or get you down dude.
If people can’t be honest anymore about a company even tho Wren is the biggest influence when it come to OneWheels, without getting ghosted and dropped, than your company is shit. Sorry Transparency is the most important thing in Capitalism today. This is a big loss and dickmove on OneWheels part.
To @SirWrender . I’m deeply sorry how you are getting treated regardless what you have done for this company. Please don’t let your head down. You are awesome, want to teach people and are such a positive person! You did nothing wrong. Much love to you ❤️
This was a fantastic talk and I'm glad to hear your perspectives on everything onewheel after radio silence for so long. I hope Kyle and the CTO will agree to have a sit down with you because you're the best person in the community to have that conversation. I am also eagerly awaiting your vesc build video. Please document everything because I want to do the same with my old xr
This is so exciting!! You guys are so smart I can’t wait to see what you build!!
Just seen Wren’s Insta story…really sad if you did get dropped from RFTR because of what you talked about here :(
looking forward to this project of yours, keep the crowds posted
I for one love you guys just talking about stuff, not necessarily film making things. Your discussions are always interesting.
Btw, Wren convinced me of getting a one wheel as well. I live in Spain and I'm an engineer. The reason I haven't gotten one yet is the right to repair issue. And here in Barcelona EVs are very popular. They are missing out. They would be more popular than electric scooter in my opinion.
I'm so happy to have discovered this podcast! MOAR CONTENT!! MOOAAR!!
Went and rewatched the episode after wren broke his collarbone and was reminded of the joy that is Wren on pain meds
Got a onewheel 4 years ago thanks to Wren and I was also disappointed in Future Motions latest release and actions. If Corridor ever released a DIY open source onewheel I would absolutely invest in that
I missed the two podcasts but we fully understand why you guys can't post all the time. You all do alot and we're all very greatful for the content!!
Wren!!!! Great stories!!! I resonated so much!!! I’ve broken every bone in both arms!! And I did my right shoulder same as you at pretty much the same time. Currently recovering from scraping off both my wrists forearms and elbows after coming off the Onewheel 😂 what doesn’t kill you eh?
Absolutely love the pause after Wren said "when he bent it back he introduced a buncha cracks into my leg"
I'm glad that Wren acknowledges the problem of oversea customers. I live in Poland, I've been hugely hyped for Onewheel for years, thanks to Wren and Shonduras. However, aside from general high cost, the shipping costs are ridiculous - and having a perspective of having to ship it back in case of any malfunction is not acceptable.
But on the other hand, I doubt the company's attitude would change. Isn't the same model working fine for Apple? I'm not an Apple user, but seems youu have to send it to manufacturer in case of most hardware problems? (but fortunately they have other locations than USA)
Just so you all know I love everything you guys do. Each one of you are doing CZcams exactly how it was meant to be done. I play the lottery every week and when I win, I will be making a significant donation to you. Love you all
i broke my femur on my onewheel almost 3 weeks ago and it was so stupid because i was not even going fast, i was tired and as i fell my leg twisted and it snaped my femur in half. after all the tests we saw im not lacking calcium or anything it was just a dumb twist. i do want to go back to one wheeling but after all the events this has lead to, i cant risk to have this happen again and i know i wouldnt have the support im having right now from my friends and family if this were to happen again on a onewheel.
im so sad and i dont blame the one wheel at all but sometimes the funkiest things happen and not even being a daredevil.
Were you by chance accelerating too fast? Back in June I broke my arm accelerating from 12mph to 16mph and never even got pushback because I tried to accelerate too fast too quick and the board just went straight to nosedive.
DEFINITELY a video when you guys built the board, plus you can write it off as a company expense!
Good luck building the boards
This is my fav podcast so far
FM: don't mess with your board, send it to our ONLY authorized repair center. We do this for your own safety!
Also FM: here's the defective part that can straight up break someone's leg, install it yourself! It'll be fine.
Guess they're not the only authorized repair center when there's no revenue to extort.
Oh im not crazy I thought there were two missing.
Thats okay always worth the wait
Small recommendation: Add the timestamps on the slider for when you guys change topic so it's easy to skip around.
Great Podcast episode!
"Ya know"
NO WREN, we don't know! That's not normal! This was a mistake listening to while eating
Yooo! I’m so looking forward to that Corridor DIY one wheel.
I like the podcast being about more than just filmmaking
Wren would you mind sharing the image/fix of the solder problem? I had a Pint die on me mid ride and I bonked body first on the ground and lost conciousness for almost 40minutes. Board was 14 months old, but FM says warranty is over.
Wren got me into it. Along with seeing some friends riding
Definitely noticed and missed the Corridor Cast!
Please do a full video on the VESC build
The companies providing rental e-scoots in Finland, I think Helsinki specifically, had to limit the speed and use at night cause the ER's were so filled with mostly drunk riders wrecking themselves. It was starting to hinder other healthcare at certain ER's. It was nuts.
that ROTOR RIOT shirt tho,🤙 kinda missed flying fpv. good content guys. saw the short version from jimmy
Is Wren the little brother Niko had to buy new bones for in the Anime Fidget Spinner video?! Thought of it right away when Jordan said "Dont lose your bones!"
0 experience with boarding and the onewheel took me less than week to learn both my wrecks have been without broken bones but i did give myself a minor concussion
That's insanely coincidental, I just shattered my ankle in a pole vaulting accident still got 2 months to recover 😵
You know there are more reasons for switching to EUC besides superior speed and range and suspension and hill climbing. It's actually more comfortable, your neck wont hurt from all of that looking to the side, and there is no blind spot because of it too.
Good gracious Mr. Glass!
One love all from myself and the Onewheel Midlands group across central England. Keep up the fight for RTR! I only broken ribs and fingers and things like that onewheeling in 5 years (touch wood that continues, they don't count anyway). Weird shit can happen but all the pads all the time is the main reason! If I break myself proply I can't float. Nah, fcuk that hahaha. It's shred time
I thought about getting a one wheel until over the last 2 years have seen so many CC ppl in casts. I'm not shitting on anyone about their bones or injuries. I just also have Meniere's Disease which = falling over without any outside help :D
When i just heard about Obi my heart dropped. That is such a terrible way to go. Poor little thing 😥. I am soo soo sooo sorry you had to go trough that. Such a freak accident, cant be anyone's fault. I hope you can enjoy watching videos of him, whenever i feel sad about losing my little girl, Im so glad i still see her like that and she doesnt feel so far away anymore. Even tough Obi's life wasnt that long, im 100% sure he had an amazing time with you!!!
@1:03:57 if you felt your ears pop it's because the collective personal EV manufacturing market's sphincter just clenched hard enough to change the atmospheric pressure globally
Just got my vesc up and running and I'll never go back to FM.
They should keep making the XR, that alone would fix most of their issues.
I would really like to build a VESC following your steps, hopefully you guys do it soon 🤞🏼
I'm still watching the ads before the video, but I predict the title is in reference to wren.
Super excited to see how the DIY one wheel turns out hopefully wren doesn't throw in too much jank
Dang! I also concussed myself a couple months back!! Lost an hour of my life walking around 😂
Wren is Mr Glass
ok... just getting in to 3D. Having a hard time downloading octane plug in for Cinema 4D on mob Mac Studio. And help?....
Wren seriously, DON'T LOSE UR COLLAR BONE!!!
Great timing! I was running out of things to watch.
I've skateboarded, wake surfed, wake boarded, and snow boarded... I have an electric skateboard, and I really want a one wheel, but I've heard so many stories like Wren's... I just cant do it. I'll stick to the eskate - the one wheel lets you do things like go over grass, off road, or over curbs... but I think thats where people get into trouble.
Honestly I think the Onewheel is a LOT safer than eskate. It's all about the radius of those wheels!! I PROMISE you that if you like snowboarding and wakeboarding... you will love onewheeling. There's something magical about motion without a throttle.
@@SirWrender Hey man - thanks for the reply, love your enthusiasm for Onewheel (and vfx!). You hit on exactly why I want one so badly... the magic. It just looks sublime! Huge fan of the work you all do, as a motion designer, its a ton of fun watching you all work.
@@mattbeharry Much appreciated!!! But seriously. Don't think about Onewheels from the risk factor stand point. Just don't. It's cool if you end up not getting one... but please don't let fear of injury be the reason ESPECIALLY since you e-skate. Like I said, I rode Boosted boards for 2 years before the Onewheel. I can't go back now.
love the podcast but jake where is the banjo?? i miss it , is it okay?
Wren going for a record break
Ren should get a FFMCHIP and fix his XR's
Too bad, the only thing that I have broken, is my dream.
Wren, beltalowda!
It sounds more as if they haven't tested long enough before release and when different departments inside don't talk to each other sounds fishy too
Please more iron chef videos
This feels like the prequel to anime fidget spinner. Niko needs cash for wren's new bones
Wren should get a electric bike from Super 73. I hear they are amazing
No, opening it up is supposed to be OK, under the law. Laptops manufacturer have changed their policies because of it.
Sure, but it's very likely I damaged the controller when I opened it. It's a long story but the damage I described may have been caused by literally just me opening the case since there's a hard snap fit with sticky rubber sealant pads all around it. FM has special jigs to get it open them. It's why I always reflow the solder every time I open a controller case now.
Wren is like samuel jackson from Glass
Wren is a liability
I literally bought an XR because of Wren and then eventually picked up my GT
50:15 Nooooo nonono -- why wouldnt it be okay for you to open up the onewheel?
Did you open it and damage it?
Did you open it and mod it?
If the item is broken not because of you opening it up, but due to a part that failed under normal use, it should still be a warranty repair..
Dont you open up the hood of your car to see why there is smoke? Wouldnt you want to see why there is smoke coming form your onewheel?
FTC's rules on Warranty have already said that the Do not open stickers are unenforceable. The manufacturer must prove in court that you broke it but you have to sue them to get your warranty.
I just realized I didn't clarify the issue. Opening the case is VERY difficult and puts a LOT of stress on the PCB inside. It's very likely that I damaged the controller when I did so. It's more than just the "do not open" stickers.
In fact, opening the case is the leading cause of damage that I described! That's why every time I open the controller now I always reflow solder to all the joints JUST IN CASE!
@@SirWrender Yeah, but then its designed to break when users open it up...
Again, back to the car, we assume the car will break down sometimes and will need maintenance and repairs other times.
Who would design a car in such a way that opening it for repair, would lead to more issues?
Its malicious at this point...
@@HexerPsy I would say it's more due to incompetence than maliciousness. And the issue isn't opening the case... it's opening it without the correct tool.
Jesus Wren! Did M. Night Shyamalan based the Glass character on you?
@SirWrender you're the man, and speaking about patents, right to repair and bad company policy: you should see this too czcams.com/video/HGbbag9dklU/video.html this is basically how the onewheel is born outside future motion, the man's internet site also had explanations and how to, and the prototype is strangely similar to the "first prototipes created in the garage" by FM.. years before FM.
Hey Wren man, be careful please! I don't want to see you hurt yourself anymore, it upsets me to always see and I really don't want you to lose your collarbone
I'm not particularly squeamish, but each time Wren described the injury I got uncomfortable. Dude, take care of yourself!
Wren, you are old enough to have a four-wheel CAR. Or get a bicycle if you are not into cars. I can't afford a car but I can go cycling almost everywhere I need to go to. And my most serious injuries on the bike have been some bruises. Get well.
Is Wren secretly Deku from My Hero Academia!?!
Wren may have a minor concussion lmfao
Wren broke something again?
Aww man, what a fake out. Serenade us!
Love when wrens on the couch
watching this w a broken bone lol broke same bone but on pinky
This vid cost Wren his spot at race for the rail
Complaining about right to repair while benefiting from right of repair?
Louis had loads of video of failed mac books that can be fixed easily and cheap while Apple Lord charges shit loads in order to force clients to buy new laptops and gear while making it illigal to fix simple issues... that the right to repair right there
Speaking of bones... Weichman... in german "weich" = soft... surname on point ;)
Wren the "26th fastest one wheeler in the world"
Wren definitely sold me one a Pint X.
Love it but the sensors are kinda flaky. (Felt furniture food pads helps)
One wheel also kinda feels like owning a Tesla.
Yeah the PintX has a weird sensor pad. I literally gaff-taped a small piece of cardboard on top so that it could activate when I got on haha.
The concerns brought from the one wheel community seem legit though, it's a $2000 device that from what it sounds is trying to murder you :|
But this is just what i'm getting from what was said on this cast
No it's not trying to murder you. They're doing everything they can to make sure that's NOT a risk factor. The risk comes from your USE of it.
Wren is always wearing a CorridorCast
Lol, i wanted to make this joke) opened comments and its already here)
Dedication to a bit.
they should sell 3d printed casts with tracking dots
i see what you did there
You win
