    If you’re not comfortable with the magic circle you can chain 4, then slip knot into the first chain then do then8 single crochets into the center of the circle you created. :) it makes it a little thicker but that’s usually how I do my centre.

      I watched a video yesterday that started with a magic circle. Did the stitches (sc or dc or whatever). And when it came time to slip stitch that row together, they brought up the tail from the magic circle and included it in the “yarn over” part of the slip stitch - then stitched over the tail for a bit doing the next row. Genius! It locked the magic circle in place! (If you want a better explanation or visual, I was watching a video on how to make a pocket hug)

    This takes me back to when my gramma taught me how to do this when I was a little girl. I was 9, and she was so patient with me. Just like you. You’re a great teacher, and you made it seem so easy to potentially make something so beautiful. My grandma is 102 now and of course her dexterity is nothing like it was 45 years ago, but she was so happy when I showed her this. Thank you for bringing back that memory, and for making this simple for even me to understand. I think I see a sweet little handbag in my distant future if I can make 3 or 4 of these per day. Lol.

    I accidentally made a magic loop with nine instead of eight stitches. I only realized I miscounted after I'd finished making the petals. My first daisy granny square ended up being a circle lol. After that mishap though, I made sure the rest of my squares were actually square. They look great :) This tutorial was easy to follow, slow paced enough for me to learn, and I'm excited to have such a beautiful design locked down. Thank you! I'm using a bigger yarn, so they're big enough to be coasters.

    Yes I believe she meant double crochets instead of half doubles on the second corner she did. It messed up my first square but I went back and watched it carefully and it is double crochets that she did. The half doubles are only the ones in between the corners right? Either way, it’s a beautiful square. I’m making a child’s sweater with them, thank you for the tutorial.

    • @blerta7801
      @blerta7801 Před 4 lety +9

      4 months late lol but no she did mean half doubles. Because you are working to make a square out of the circular daisy, you would use a half double so all of the sides end up straight. I'm not sure why your squares were messed up. When you switch to your final color, you start with a chain of 5 in the chain 2 space of your petals. This counts as one double and a chain of two. You then dc 3× into the same space. The next space, you hdc three times. In the next space dc 3× and chain 2(or however many she said) and then dc three more times in the same space. Hdc into the next chain space and repeat until you get to where you started. In that space, dc 2× because that chain 5 counts as a dc. Each side of your square should end up straight and even unless you messed up somewhere❤❤

      Bianca B hey sorry this is way later haha, but she did make a mistake in the video, there are written instructions online from the same people and they said double crochet when she said half double. Also in the video right before it skips, she does say half double but when you look at her movements it’s a double crochet. Hopefully that clears any confusion🙂

    Just made a sample square using 1.5" strips of fabric (old sheets) and a homemade crochet hook from a 3/8" dowel. Finished block = 7" x 7" and weighs 99g. It is super dense and will become a floor rug once I make 23 more blocks (approx 24x64 runner). Didn't time the first block, as I was learning the pattern. It's a bit of a wrestling match, seeing that the fabric is not forgiving, but I'm expecting it will take me at least 30 min per block. No one said it was going to be easy.

      No, I’m really losing it, she really is working a half double crochet but I’m confused why she’s choosing a half double when the corners are clearly double crochet. I noticed it because my square was kind of wonky, not a complete square shorter in the center parts.

    ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ my yarn was a bit thick so I did only 3 D. C. Instead of four and 12 times ( 13 petals) Thanks. 4.01.2024

    I HAVE A VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION!! So basically, if I need to make this square larger so it can match the size of other granny squares I’m making, how would I go about doing so? Would I add double crochets into each stitch?

    • @lillianpan206
      @lillianpan206 Před 3 lety

      I had the exact same question!! They turned out so small so I was kind of disappointed.
      But you can use larger sized hooks, or additional stitches like you said :) hope this helps

    i got confused when you finished with the part where you said to continue the process around the flower what does that mean the whole thing or just the half double crochets

      Hi Maiya, you'll want to follow along with the written pattern as you watch the tutorial. I think it will help clear up any confusion: justbcrafty.com/2019/04/dainty-daisy-granny-square-motif-video-tutorial.html

    I absolutely love your way of doing the Daisy granny squares, I am making a baby blanket for someone but have a hard time finding out how much to charge for it. I’m going to be using 8 different yarn colors 14 squares of each color.

    I have to agree with the previous comment about the verbal instructions being incorrect.
    After several trial and errors, and repeated rewatching, it does appear the verbal instructions do not match the visual instructions. The verbal corner stitch instructions do not correlate with the visual demonstrations.
    I hope you are able to correct this as the resulting motif is so cute. I’d hate to think some folks will abandon the project as the instructions aren’t correct.

    Hi, It is a beautiful pattern, and I will be looking up your video for joining the granny squares together, your pattern would make a pretty lined square blocked bag. Thanks for the pattern and idea.
