It was surprising when I watched the actual movie. I did not expect that kid to die, at least not that early, and not so suddenly, mainly because he was like the third main character of this movie, and arguably the most fleshed out of all of them.
Clancy Brown's performance here gives me very similar vibes to Vincent D'Onofrio's in Men In Black. Like they're both playing dead guys being puppeted by other entities, and they both kinda go wild with it in a way that really works. Their performances are being slept on

In answer to your question James, it's established in the novel that the wendigo spirit acts as a hive mind of sorts. It's the most logical reason that Clancy Brown is so friendly with Edward's character. By helping him, the spirit would have more bodies to possess. (Great/entertaining video as usual. I’m currently 14, almost 15. When I was probably around 8, my father showed me this movie on cable. This was before I even really knew about Pet Sematary. So this movie was my introduction to Pet Sematary, which is one of my favourite King stories of all time
It's a little weird that he showed you the sequel first (but I get it, it was on cable) but that's great! Pet Sematary is my King's favorite too, helped me a lot with my grief
