Rikki, let alone the thousands of mermaids, were at risk. They actually _really_ needed the Dragon Bracelet from Rikki (which actually belonged to the Eastern Pod, which was eliminated by the water dragon.)
And since they’re real mermaids (born in the ocean, etc.,) Rikki was technically never a match for them.
But they’re not bad characters, the Mako mermaids are actually really nice characters. Like, if I hadn’t watched “H2O,” I’d think that Rikki was a disrespectful girl who didn’t deserve to be a mermaid. So, don’t judge a character without knowing their backstory 😊
(Just skip Season 1, future viewers, ‘cause IMO, it’s not really good. It got better after they replaced Lyla and Nixie from Season 1, I personally like Season 2 onward.)

It made me sad hearing they moved on but seeing her without the necklace (either the locket or the crystal) made me feel even more sad. Also, nothing against Mako Mermaids, but I'd like to see a reunion show of the original cast. They're too old todo a S4 but it would be cool to see what they all got up to after all these years.
They are the same age as the girls who were playing the teenagers in Mako Mermaid.

Now we're in 2021 the original girls would now be 28/29 - 10yrs makes a difference. Even if it was just a short reunion I'd love to know what they'd been up to.

That "You have to teach me how to do that" is so relatable. I can really see Rikki making the most of being a mermaid because she always had a more intense connection to her mermaid side. I would have loved if, in the end, she would have called the others and told them about it.

I think it's more like Rikki who doesn't have respect, lol. The three Mako Mermaids girls are trying to start a good conversation with Rikki at 2:26 about being a mermaid but Rikki's just acting like she's much better and more experienced than them. And after what she says on 2:58 I'd say Rikki is the one with the lack of respect, even though Rikki is my all time favorite mermaid.

There’s a bit of confusion here. Some people think that Weilan stopped the water from going over but according to the Fandom, Rikki actually used Telekinesis to stop it. I don’t know how she got the power - maybe it’s because she matured as a mermaid.
Actually it’s been confirmed in mako mermaids that all the mermaids can learn a power it doesn’t come to earth single person to only control 1 type of elemental. So she probably discovered off screen that she can do a lot of things Cleo, Bella and Emma as well.
As I child when I watched H2O I always tried to see if I could see mako island because I live about 20 minutes from where the show was filmed.

for the ones asking. the reason why the actors who played cleo and Emma didn't accept an offer of featuring in the show is probably because they had a really busy schedule with the vampire diaries/the originals

The mermaids introduced on this show have all the powers. But Rikki returned from H2O. Other times in this episode, Rikki's powers involved heat. And Rikki was surprised at the invisibility power and wanted them to teach her that. With all the continuity of both H2O and her guest appearance in Mako Mermaids, she shouldn't be able to stop that glass from spilling.

I think it’s more because of the fact that H2o had a more realistic science fiction kinda take mixed with magic. Mako mermaids had a more magical take and it helped us explore the mermaids culture a bit. Mako mermaids kinda removed stuff we knew about the original show and we kinda knew most of the stuff about the moon pool for H2o but Mako mermaids didn’t seem to know much at all about there own island except the mythology surrounding it, like I said H2o is realistic while Mako Mermaids is more magic

To be honest....I don't like this show as much as h20. Rikki was my favorite character and I loved cleo and emma. It's really hard to like these new characters.
I think a lot of people can relate to what you just said :)) We all have different opinions on Mako Mermaids but to be honest it's getting too much unnecessary hate these days. I love Mako Mermaids, cause it's made by the same producer as H2O Just Add Water and I can see a lot of similarities between the two shows. It may not be better than H2O, but at least it's a good number 2 :))

Maybe because Bella went to her homeland, Emma also moved away to travel with her family and Cleo maybe moved closer to Lewis. There are a lot of possibilities and as Rikki said, they moved on from their mermaid life's which seemed to hurt her. So her not wearing her necklace could show of her disconnection to the others over the years :3 I hope the said meeting will happen someday as a movie or spin off.

For those asking and are curious how Rikki was able to control the Water when it isn't even her power but part of Cleo's and in fact Cleo's first power! Then I shall explain:
During H2O: Just Add Water, When Rikki went to the Moon Pool to finally confront the Water Tentacle... she was present at the Moon Pool while it was a Full Moon. And so she obtained a power called Telekinesis. Power to move things on command. So that's why she was able to control the wall or the water tentacle and bond with it. It's cause she gained the Telekinesis power. So, that answers your question. It is Cleo's power set but not entirely because Cleo's power are mostly only to control water and manipulate it, she can add how many water she likes. And her powers are also wind so she can only control or push some objects with a command but it isn't telekinesis like the one Rikki obtained.

Claudia Estrada I got 15 seconds into episode 1 of Mako Mermaids abd turned it off. Not a patch on H20. Its so cringy and tacky.
The main drawback of Mako Mermaids is their inability to keep characters for the whole series. The season 1 girls aren't great, the season 2 girls I FELL IN LOVE WITH, and the season 3 girls are all pretty good except Weilan. I say give it another chance lol

I don't remember if I cried the first time I watched the bit at 5:00 in the actual episode, but I definitely did just now watching this video. The scene itself is great but the music in that scene really hits me with a sad nostalgia. I'm 22 now and I first watched H2O when I was 11. That show was my life and I was completely obsessed with it. I watched all the behind the scenes stuff I could find, I bought the DVDs, I wanted so badly to be a mermaid, I read and wrote fanfiction for the show, all of it. So many memories, oh my gosh. ❤️
For Cariba to have had the guest star appearance in Mako Mermaids like this and bring it back full circle to the original show, it means the world to me. I can't put it in words how grateful I am that she was brought back for a couple episodes on this show. A huge piece of my childhood made current.
They really should make another mermaid show under the same production company - not a carbon copy, but something original and still staying family friendly. I'm an actor now, but I'm in the US, so unless they did a new mermaid show and opened up casting to US actors (*cough* Oregon *cough*) like what they did with Allie (Mimmi) in Canada, my agent wouldn't be able to get me an audition since I don't have representation over in Australia. Maybe we could all write to JMS Productions and ask for a new mermaid show? It'd be a dream to see another mermaid show that retains the innocent, magical, fun spirit the original had. ❤️ (not that Mako Mermaids is bad, it's not - it's just there's a real nostalgia for me with H2O since I saw it when I was 11)

I actually felt proud of Rikki and am glad to see her back in this new series. It shows her growth from her poor state in H20 to a successful and rich collector and good life here in Mako mermaids.
When she spoke about two friends, I cried cause nostalgic back to H2O series...and she was like a Mrs Chaplin for a moment there like telling abt the 1950s mermaids....only Rikki was telling the 2006-2010 mermaids.
I love rikki so much. I just wish they made more seasons of H2O. I’m only on the first season but I love rikki and Cleo and Emma together. And that’s not the same moonpool. The one Cleo Emma and Rikki fell into didn’t have tiles. It was not that high on the sides. And there was sand and rocks. I just miss Cleo and Emma and Lewis and Zain and Kim and Eliot and even Nate and Miriam. Idk who ash or Bella or whatever there names are. I havnt met them yet. I still don’t know y they need a fourth anyway. But I think this is a rip-off of the original. Not really a continuation. I miss the old show. Oh and is it just me or whenever Rikki or Cleo or Emma is(was) in the moon pool alone it’s always sad and I cry. When ever one of them is alone. I just want H2O back. Oh and i love Rikki and Zain together SOOOO much.😍😍
