Wow, many tks for this old escolta! I remember during my early years that my uncle who tagged me alone to visit his best friend, a banker. I remember the Bergs, and other bldgs you featured. Nice to go down memory lane.
Thanks again! I suggest you also feature Baguio in 1980's. The old session road, burnham, grotto, wright park, mines view park, mt. Sto tomas, benguet, the market etc etc. I was assigned there in the 80's as engineer in charge of our telecom relay in cabuyao, benguet! I will love to see the old places before it was devastated by earthquakes. Thank you
Very nice kc until now yun p rin bldg pero kung ako mas matibay mga yan kc standard ang materiales na ginagamet noon ngayon puro sub standard at yung amoy dapat re pipe ang existing drainage painting it must b every 3 yrs para mawala ang amoy and last is ventillation pero mas ok noon simple and humble life thank you again mr fern mabuhay pilopinas atin ito yes para sa inang bayan

Thank you very much!
Escolta must have a museum that tells about it's full history how it became a prime shopping center through colonial times up to the late 1960's the former first class shops theaters and soda fountain should be included in the exibit to retain it's former glory escolta must follow new trends in shopping like mall but escolta must retain it's historic building the city planner must get idea from The Venice Cannal Mall the front of the mall are venician architecture behind it a mall this concept can be applied to Escolta old building in front but behind it a mall the mall must have a historical ambiance the street will be close to traffic and tramvia or classic car will be the transportation in the street of Escolta to give it a historical flavor restoration of old building a gas lamp style in antique design line the street of Escolta with large terracotta pot for greenry and colorful flowers and antique park bench an al fresco dining and open caffe and open air soda fountain in 50yish style with this development people will shop again in Escolta that combine the old and the New idea in shopping experience
@@MonaLisa-df3if you have an open mind there is only a few people who appreciate our own history most people don't care any more to preserve our past in any way we have to open up the mind of our young generation to love our past history is the very foundation of a civilize society without it we are nothing so we have to protect it by deeds or by words share to anyone what we have in mind to preserve it this little thing we do will open up mind of our young generation to value part of our past
Very educational and informative. I love history. Salamat Fern. You made us knowledgeable on Philippine history.
☺️🙏🙏🙏
Nice...
Thank you uli and hoping for more to come ..
Hehe thank u yes theres more po☺️🙏🙏
Thank you so much at talagang through your research marami akong natututuhan. Ingat lagi...from all of us here in Canada 🇨🇦 ang USA 🇺🇸.
Diba maam?
Boss i really enjoy your videos, keep up the good work…
I appreciate that po salamat
Astounding historical & cultural bldg.! 😯 wag maging judgemental.😂 need to know kung ano Noon kumpara sa Ngayon para malaman ang pinagmulan natin " truly captivating"!🤩 Thanks Sir Fern.👍

I cannot help but appreciate how Filipinos dressed up way back in the days. Economics kaya or climate change or Uso uso lang ang dahilan ng transition to where we are now when it comes to dressing up. Should I say it has gotten worse as evidenced by what we see from walking vlogs or sabi mo nga, it is what it is? Ingat lagi.
I remember that apple sidra, and yes cola we have a sari sari store here in sampaloc manila, that was during my elemetary days, i think during 1970s
Puntahan at papasyalan ang Escolta area kung mag gagawa sila ng mga cafes, bistros or restaurants dyan ksi ang mga tourists both locals n foreigners mahilig kumain...dagdagan pa ng mga Museums n Art Galleries n souvenir n antique shops...
I love your channel, nakaka relax. Kasawa na mga politics sa Pinas. Toxic na mga talunan.
Hahaha true😅😁😁 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Syvel's used to be the prime department store at the height of Escolta as a commercial area.
Good day sir!
I am a new subscriber. Very informative videos.
We should appreciate their efforts in preserving the items in the museums.
Thanks and I still appreciate your videos. :)
☺️🙏🙏
If you have time to vlog din yung PMI founded by Late Admiral Tomas Cloma the first private maritime school in the phils. He was also the one who discovered the freedom land or kalayaan group of islands kung saan may disputes with other countries like china, vietnam and others at binili naman ni former pres ferdinand marcos sa halagang 1 peso nuong mga panahon na yun ang mga isla na kanyang nadiskubre. 😊
@@kaCZcamsro Yes sir nasunog yan.
Salamat
I miss Zyvels shoe shop. This brings back good memories
hi Fern! binabalik mo kmi sa nkaraan sa mga features mo na historical places, salamat! sna lang din you take a moment na ipakita at basahin yung mga markers ng bldgs or ibang structures ksi mkkita dun ang iba pang info
Ang pnakanatutunan ko sa mga vlogs mo Sir " nothing is permanent in this crazy 🌎🌍 " gasgas man yang clinche na yan pero " legit " and thank you Sir Fern marami dn kaming natututunan . GOD bless po ☝️ power on

SYVELS yan yung Rustans sa ESCOLTA. Hindi supermarket yang SYVELS. Mga high end shoes and clothes dyan. At Tailoring.
I can’t help reminisce my younger days when I go to Sta. Cruz, Carriedo and Escolta. Syvel’s used to be famous for it’s quality shoes n leather products. Sad to say that it’s already gone. Good Earth Emporium was the first mall having an escalator and at the ground floor there’s different candies you can choose to buy near the escalator. I don’t know if GEE is still there. There’s no more business in Sta. Cruz because of the LRT construction. The place is dark. People now used to go and shop in SM establishment, either in QC or in Makati.
Sayang hindi ka pumasok sa Burke Bldg. Napakaganda yung lumang Brass Elevator nila☺
Mga original na leather shoes and purse na imported yata, as far as I know dahil bilihan ng Auntie ko. Nauso din ang mga Gregg shoes sa mga school nung araw but its a separate shoe store dyan din sa Escolta. Parang rich ka kapag Gregg shoes.
Ah ganun ba sir hehehe
Thankyou…
Hi. Can you research how jeepney started and the old buses or means of transportation? I will appreciate it.
👍☺️

Beax Artes is French & pronounced Boozar in English..
Before the war may I know the Peso-Dollar exchange rate?and what is the rank of Philippines in world top sugar exporter?
Capitol theater was designed by the National Artist Juan Nakpil na may pagka Art Deco design...si Nakpil din ang nag design ng Samanillo buiding
What about the former Aguinaldo Department Store at Juan Luna Street? With its Statue of Liberty and the Statue of Bonifacio that adorned its facade, I'm sure it also had an interesting story to tell. By the way, great videos, very informative and yet entertaining.
☺️🙏🙏 noted yan sir
Before Syvels there was Heacock's Department Store building which rivalled Beck's and Berg's during the 1930's
D napapakinabangan ?
I guess maam
Late 50s we shop at Berg's and Oceania in Escolta.
Sir, in other countries, they had rebuilt buildings bombed out by World War 2. This was done according to the original blueprints. Replica? Perhaps to preserve and at least maintain historical buildings and history physically alive, for posterity., future generations.
There's a museum near Tropical Hut & Mercury Drug.
To know more about the history of the buildings there at Escolta, you can ask the Sy Lianteng family, the current owner of the First United Building for more information. And also the American blogger Lou Goupal. his father was a former shop owner at Escolta duri g its golden era.
Thank you, i read all Lou Goupal blog and other
that syvel's building needs to go. it is the eyesore of the escolta. has no special in the building. also not build by the national artist.
Actually i agree, its just an old building sir😁🙏
Lyric and Capitol theaters were not sro unlike movie houses along Avenida.
Sir Beaux is pronounced as "bo" not box, it's a French word. Pls verify the pronunciation.
Syvels was only operational in the early 80s
