  • This is a tune about "Vittra" (Lady of the Woods), or the female version of a Water Sprite... You can almost hear her rowing the boat up the river and over the rapids. It was composed by Emelius Lundberg in the early 20th century after he had a vision of Vittra. This tune is played on nyckelharpa, a hauntingly beautiful but rare 16-string Swedish folk instrument.
This video is filmed on a beautiful "Queenslander" house in Ipswich, Queensland, Australia. The house is owned by Sue's friend, Ariane, who kindly gave her front verandah as the backdrop for this video.
The video was shot and edited by the awesome Lachlan Ker of Expedite Productions.
Sue Ferrers makes her digital release debut in Australia with this track. Sue was recently a Finalist in the Australian Folk Music Awards as Instrumentalist of the Year and Queensland Music Awards in the category of World Music with this track. After spending the last two decades releasing albums, touring stadiums and festivals throughout Europe, including Kieler Woche, Amphi Festival, and the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, Sue has returned to home soil, sharing her music that is “spellbinding and spherical” and “in its simple beauty can go straight to your heart and can make you yearning for more”. (Folker Magazine, Germany).

Gorgeous. Top interpretation! I have been working on this tune for several months now but can't come near this. I find the B part particularly challenging. Very hard to get that right.
