It slows the power creep slightly, the problem is where's Rey, SLKR and SEEs special character to take them to the next lvl. JML already has JKL

It's important to note that Maul has speed up at the beginning of the battle, so you don't really need that much speed on Maul to outspeed a CAT. At 350 speed + 25% speed up, Maul would have around 430 speed which is a completely overkill, so around 310-320 speed on Maul would be plenty.
He also has frenzy for 2 turns so speed isn’t a problem against cat

Eventually GLs will be trash by themselves until they get a full special squad of 4 other characters to make them unbeatable... which sounds like a regular team again... and then we will have come full circle in SWGOH
From this rate it feels like how Strike Force handles their teams. Which ruins creative team building due to characters being gimped without their main team.
@@joshuasmith4643 yes creative building was dead the second SEE didnt have empire, Fo, and separatist tags or synergies. It would be broken but it would be creative

Also we havent seen him in action yet with Mandalorians. Im also EXTREMLY surprised, I havent seen any footage of OG Palpatine in an LV lineup. Maybe Im not lookin hard enough, but Palps kit has very VERY strong synergy with LV.
Lot of people will have Maul and not LV - even with lower crate from Conquest, it will just take few months more.
I love Maul, but how pathetic is it that you need other characters to make your highest requirement GL really viable…. Great work CG!

@@iambane7845 thats exactly what it did for me. No spending required, cuz LV is meh without Maul, and he has no place in the meta. I had the crystals saved up to crank my BB up to 7* and I held off cuz I didnt have all the kyros. And then LV came out with nowhere to go and I instantly though "perfect, ill slow farm BB while I grind my face on a belt sander --- i mean grind conquest for 3 months for maul".

Exactly yet apparently this whole big nerf was "Needed" needed for what exactly oh I get it so they can start making GLs need other toons to work that can bring in more money 💸 GL's obviously weren't bringing enough money in there eyes 👀 and if the GL's were getting wrecked by non GL's then people wouldn't spend 🤔

I’m torn. Splitting GL’s power into two characters definitely keeps them from becoming too OP, but it is really annoying that you can fully deck out a GL and have to wait another few weeks to months before you have an Arena worthy team
good part is, jmk stays relevant for a few more weeks
Silver lining here..i was on the fence with spending my crystals to start finishing off bad batch (7* and some gear) now seeing how useless LV is witout Maul in the current Meta, Going full ftp for LV. Ill have them both unlocked around the same time at thiss rate.

Cg announcment lord vader wasnt preforming as expected so we are gonna make him immune to debuffs, enemies cant attack out of turn while lord vader is active and to compete with recently release jmk, lord vader will start with 100 ultimate charge, and he can now charge ultimate while he has ashes of the republic active

Am I the only one who thinks it's heavily unfair to make a GL so reliable on another character and his ultimate? What is even the point of it being a GL at this point?

@Ahnald been thinking, with LV ultimate charging with his unique, and empire / ufus taking dmg. Couldnt OG Papa Palps supercharge it with his 2nd special, ontop of Maul?...All his allies taking 5% dmg with it, granting Palps possible tm(N/A vs JMK), and everyone gaining health steal ontop of it. Im curious to see this tested when Maul is readily available.
Also crackling doom, esepcially vs JMKs, enemies taking dmg = 20% of their max HP per instance ( jedi, rebel, shocked), also stacking Palps protection, curious if that would be converted into indirectly increasing his max HP.
Considering a lot of r7 Palps floating around, LV would be gaining some hefty mastery with his ULT. Seems like LV can take way greater advantage of a HIGHLY reliced team surrounding him aka they Monetized his ult even further with relics lol. Better take that Royal Guard to R8

Maul also gets speed up beginning of battle extra 25% speed, not tm, so it shoudl also work vs JMK.

From the ult gameplay that I saw I've noticed that in order to get it faster (more like slkr than jml) PERHAPS we should hold off from Dark Harbinger for like 1/2 turns to get the most ult charge thats posible bc its based on stacks of underestimated
But thats just me wondering, I'm propably wrong :3
Maul looks fun and all but what really has me worried is that LV/Maul team took 7 minutes to beat that JMK/CAT team.

Great Video. Came to read the comments to learn even more and all I see are people complaining and crying. I earned LV last week and am 6 shards away from MAUL. ALL from careful planning and patience. Enjoy the Journey! GL people! Anyways, since no one posted anything constructive about the team since nobody had the patience to farm it out for months, then I will post and report. Thank you Ahnald for the great video and leading the way, helping all of us enjoy this game.
I feel like they could have done so much more with his ultimate. At the very least they should have given him a transformation where he drops the cloak (I won't even get into the fact that it's glued to his legs) and we get to see a full view of the Sith eyes. These are supposed to be the game-defining characters, CG is only 6 in, and they're already putting half-assed effort into the design.
Hell his abilities are lack luster as fucked, honestly all the GL's have lack luster abilities. They are CG's highest grand units, you'd figure they would go all over with their abilities. But nope, we get an AoE spell that is just some red mist and a leap in the air lights lightsaber strike.

Depending on the A.I. works, you could just wait to use Hello there till after maul takes his turn. Maybe even wait to use force leap until after high ground and use the one shot on maul... No big deal

Thats what Ive been saying! Lol i havent seen any footage of that yet. Bad batch is my only LV gate at this point so I cant test it. But since maul is time locked theres no reason to rush LV.
@Luca Goodoer Do you have LV, have you tested with Palp? I agree Piett and RG bave a home there, but honeslty if u can power your ult up extremly fast, Darth Vader doesnt seem neccesary.
Ahnald can you test Dark Trooper with Lord Vader? I feel like the Big DT would make up for Vader's lack of punch.
I've tried it but wasn't too impressed. I think Dark Trooper is best used with Imperial Troopers still.
So you gotta grind up all these characters, maybe months later you unlock LV, then you gotta grind for a week with all the energy just for the ACTUAL unlock, pray you got the gear to get him to R7, get all the top mods, then spend like 3 weeks for the ultimate AND then get Maul just to make him super good?
Sweet Jesus man. At least JMK was great even without CAT. I mean I guess LV is still good, but mmmmm….dang. The requirements are getting out of hand son!
I hope one day they will add friendly battles to the game, I really want to battle my friends...

Only problem I have with LV is, there is no way to obtain TM Gain… I don’t foresee LV even beating the ewok Assault battles.
I'm excited for Maul because I have one of the strongest canderous Ordos in the galaxy and I want mandos to have their glory.

Does the speed up buff (given to Maul by LV) count as TM gain? If not then you only need around a 300 speed Maul to outspeed a 275ish CAT?

Lord Vader's ultimate should have been him getting his armour and red light saber
All these GLs kind of their own team trend. Kylo and Rey are pretty solo units. JML and SEE heavily rely upon teammates/a teammate. JMK and LV have a healthy relationship with one character to boost them. So I actually like seeing these varying interactions between GLs and their teams.
Maybe Kenobi slower then maul and then reduces cat cooldowns?

The first battle means nothing to me. That is a timeout in normal circumstances. Probably could have been played better and faster, but not impressive to me at all. Also we don't know the mods and stats of the teams. Wait until we actually unlock Mal to start judgments. Don't go crazy jumping the gun on Maul right now saying he will save LV.

The reverse battle will be interesting. Is Maul's AI smart enough to target CAT? Even if he does, you can just not use JMK's cooldown reset until turn 2. Most likely Kenobi and Vader will both be able to beat each other. Will be interesting to see who ends up on GAC defense.
These sneak peeks are pretty cool, but the fact that we have to wait a couple more months to get Maul just makes it the footage lackluster. I feel like CG did it since LV is not as good as we were hoping/expecting and that Conquest sucked this time to try and keep people excited. I hope that CG reworks the loot boxes for the next Conquest and people can get Maul next month instead of multiple months down the road.
I'm seeing those battles are taking quite a long time, will LV be able to take out a JMK team in time under the usual 5 minute limit?

Sorry but now I want a gl rebels maul and I can’t think of a lightside gl (suggestions pls🤣) and maybe a revan reborn but he has light+ dark tag and his relic border is purple and he can be used for lightside and dark side idk I thought it would be sick 🤷😳
the cynic in me thinks the only reason to split the release of future GL's is so they can make the first one amazing and able to beat every team, let everyone whale on that GL, then release the next GL whose sole purpose is to counter the previous GL.
With these new GL's and supplementary characters, I feel like they again just design the kits, and pull it over a character of their liking.
CAT doesn't have a leader ability, and is in a group with Master Kenobi. They weren't even in a battle together at that point anymore, Kenobi didn't even like the idea of sending Ahsoka against Maul. She'd look more better having synergy with Rex and Bo-Katan
Lord Vader: ok technically the republic became the Empire at that point, guess we can accept the Empire synergy. But again with the unaligned Maul? Anakin had no relation to him at all, had more to do with the unaligned Asajj Ventress. And this would've been the best time to rework Darth Sidious, instead of Royal Guard.
Maul at least has mandalorian leadership thing, but I bet it'll still be trash, especially compared to him in the Lord vader team.
This whole setup looks more like they're coming up with a problem (CAT-Kenobi) and then selling you the solution. (Maul-Vader)

I'm a little confused as to the reaction I've been seeing from a lot of people. Initially, people were concerned that Lord Vader would continue the power creep and further increase the gap between whales and F2P. Now that it's shown that Lord Vader can only compete with the meta team if he has Maul (therefore implying Lord Vader himself doesn't contribute to any shift in meta)...the same people are saying that's a problem and that Lord Vader shouldn't need Maul to beat the best team in GoH right now. Do we want every GL to be released to immediately dominate the meta, thus increase power creep or no?
But what about the Mech attack in the arena?
And now imagine how fast SEE will get to his ultimate after linking maul, and how much mastery he will get from this

@@jackgibson16 Well, each time linked enemy takes turn SEE drains his protection. This part does not matter against LV lead, but there is another one. Each time Linked enemy uses abilities, SEE gets 8% of his ultimate and 10% of his mastery

Remember when aniken beat Kenobi and maul beat Asoka? I don't either.
They should have made commander appo for lord Vader, so maul could have his own team. Because it makes no sense that maul and Vader are in the same team.
And Appo could summon a clone buddy to take cats insta-kill.
It makes even less sense to have 2 Kenobis on one team. This game isn't bound to lore. Stop expecting it to be.
