- Yay! My single eyeshadow declutter! In this video I go through all of my single eyeshadows and weed out the dupes and the colors I don't really like. I usually link everything I mention in the description box, but I'm not going to do that for this video because there are so many shadows. This video resonates with me. Over last year I came to the realization that I am not a palette person. I love single eye shadows and prefer to mix and match my own small palettes. There are a few things I wish I had bought last year, some Colourpop and Sydney Grace singles, but instead I bought palettes I have already decluttered. Next year if I buy any eye shadow it will exclusively be unique singles that I fell I will use and love. Plus my eye loves seeing your shadows arranged by finish and color family.
Perfection. I'm totally inspired. I always leave at least 30% of each palette untouched, and often pull multiple palettes for a look, which defeats the purpose of a palette and makes me feel wasteful.

I pull multiple palettes for looks almost every time. It never occurred to me that I'm basically just treating all my shadows like singles. Maybe I should take on this project too? Haha thanks for sharing your thoughts :)
I love the age of curation. I appreciate looking at the individual shadows and your overall collection. Makeup is a luxury and in recent years, it is perceived more as necessity. Having a selective collection brings more value and luxury (no matter the price). It is why we pay attention to favorites/preferences. Great video! It's not choatic, it's terrazzo. ;)
As a person who only uses single shadows, this palette looks GLORIOUS.

I've turned ALL my eyeshadows into singles and sorted them by color and it has been 100% amazing for my creativity and my collection. It lets me minimize buying dupes too. I'm inspired to do a green and yellow look? Boom, I have access to every single green/ yellow eyeshadow I own in the same z palette. So satisfying!
You can still give the cracked ones away, just spray them with some alcohol and repress! It's probably too late now but I've done this a few times with shadows I'd dropped and it worked well.
I watch your videos a lot while I fold laundry. Recently my husband asked me "why does that woman only talk about 'grungy'." That had me laughing
what a different and satisfying concept of decluttering eyeshadows. Usually circle and square pans together stress me out but it’s a beautiful mosaic of colours, tones and finishes ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Same! I was like "the end result of this is going to trigger my OCD personality so hard" and then when she holds up the finished palette I was like "Oh my gosh that is the prettiest, most creative palette I've ever seen WHAT"

I'm so curious to see how your comprehensive eyeshadow collection evolves from here! I recently rewatched your "if I could only keep one" trash from last year and was so amused that you said you'd keep the Nars pallette that you just decluttered!
I'm particularly curious to see what holes you still see in the collection, if you declutter any more now that you have a better focus on what you have, and mostly to see the smaller pallettes that evolve out of this.

I loved this little series so much. I really want to do this with my eyeshadow. I think I would prefer depotting a bunch of palettes and putting them all together instead of having everything separate like I do now. I know some people love the color stories of palettes, and I do too, but for my own use (and to curb my own spending) I think having them compiled would be a better choice.

Hannah! I depotted Tarte Toasted, Naked Basics, Smashbox Minimalist, and KVD shade n light into a z palette. The kvd and UD naked basics were a powdery mess but the other 2 depotted like a dream. I am a huge fan great video thank you!

Having all your singles in one place is super important if you to keep yourself from buying the same thing over and over. You did a great job with this and the finished product is so beautiful.
Whoa! That palette is massive! I didn’t even know they existed that large. I love how you approached sorting them by color group and finish. I absolutely adore the idea of storing them all in a big palette and then curating smaller palettes based on your needs and wants for future looks. I never thought I would be a de-potter, but your videos have kind of made me want to after seeing the freedom you’ll have to create whatever smaller palettes you feel like making. Love the way you set this up, especially the way the size of the palette is part of the equation as you're deciding what to keep. Reminds me of a book I read about decluttering by Dana K. White. it's like all these people I look to for inspiration have this really practical approach to clearing and declutter. Love it! The only thing I was more curious about were the swatches, but with such an extensive video I can imagine it would double in length of you displayed all the swatches... So totally get it!
I only have 3 palettes, UD naked 1 and 2 and Kat von D shade and light (pre anti-vacc), this has made me really interested in depotting and/decluttering some of them, because as it is I don't use them enough, and I think there are nice easy looks lurking there that I'd love! :)

This was soooo soothing. Work was rough today so this was a perfect way to lift my spirits. I personally don't own any singles (except a matte black) and prefer pallettes (I have 7 pallettes and rotate them every two weeks) but I saw the whole thing!
You inspired me. I realized I hadn’t been using my singles as much as I had in the past. So after watching you I decided to declutter my eyeshadow palettes and was open to depotting palettes if there were only a few I wanted to keep. I ended up really curating my stash and decluttering a number of palettes as well as depotting some eyeshadows and even blushes. So thank you. You helped me make my makeup more useable for me.
I just recently did my first successful depotting, and I’m officially obsessed. I didn’t have enough singles to warrant a declutter. I definitely can see myself leaning towards singles in the future, and staying away from full palettes unless something is extra special. It is so nice to curate the “perfect” palette and it was fun watching your declutter

I think the end result is a beautifully curated palette and even with the different sizes, it looks artistically arranged. When you started the process and grouped things by color and finish, it was easy to focus on the differences and similarities. You were really thoughtful as to why to keep something or let it go and I always appreciate that. I like that you have the smaller palettes to utilize and make new palettes and color stories from the large palette. It’s like endless creativity because you are not focused on a manufactured palette.

I love declutter videos so much. There's something satisfying about simplifying our lives. Especially with beautubers with larger followings they're better than review videos for reviews. Lately review videos are really just first impressions. I like to see what is actually worth keeping around.

Hey Hannah when/if you go to buy more of the backers for non-magnetic single shadows, they aren’t magnets, they’re just magnetic metal stickers. They also sell magnet stickers like this but it’s better to use the metal stickers since you don’t have to worry about the polarity. Not an important distinction unless you’re going to buy any more of them in the future though!

I’ve been looking at that massive palette to house a bunch of singles from about 4 of my eyeshadow palettes. I found my self always reaching into multiple to do certain looks which was kind of frustrating. I find to exciting and satisfying to turn palettes into singles. Especially since having dupes gives me a bit of anxiety! Thanks Hannah!
Oh this was wonderful to watch! I failed at my attempt to de-pot. I was losing patience and my shadows started to break. I think I will commit to single shadows at the end of my no buy as I never use every color in a palette. Great video! 💕💕
