The Color Purple and Kindred are two of my all time favorite novels. Such incredible books.

I've read Kindred, Watsons, and Color Purple. I just read Color Purple in 2023 which was amazing.
I agree with your assessment of Watsons in that it was a little disjointed.
Another classic I read in 2023 was Raisin in the Sun, and I listened to the fantastic recording of the play while reading.
Thanks for doing this series! I have The Street out from the library now so I hope to get to it soon.
Oh my pleasure! It sounds like you've been engaged in some beautiful reading experiences! Get ready to be blown away by The Street!
Awesome video. I am going to take on this challenge in June!
YES! Let me know how it goes and thank you for your kind words!
...and because i just found your video, i have no wait time for your thoughts - so excited to see which inrs you got to! 😃💜📚
If Bill Street could Talk sounds so good, but I am scared I will be in tears.
Oh no Quicksand did not work for you 😂😂😂 I loved that and was so surprised. I just adopted Helga and found her self destruct mode fascinating and her struggle to find her place, her home her people and never shake the world's rejection of her so tragic and upsetting. It really moved me.
Passing I had hyped up so much - I loved the first part, was so fascinating and the dialogue was brilliant. But the 2nd part which explored infidelity and marriage breakdown did not vibe with me as I am not I trust in those sorts of stories. So ultimately I found it a let down, which hurts. But what hurts more is that Nella Larson had no further published works due to accusations of pmagerisim, which is infuriating. We lost out big time on some amazing work if she had, had the support she deserved for her work.
I still love Quicksand 😂😂😂💜📚
Okay I SO love that we had totally different reading experiences with Nella Larsen's books! You definitely have to be in a certain mood to absorb If Beale Street Could Talk. I also encourage you to watch the movie! Chef's kiss!
@LaRosaReads it's what I l8ve about booktube that people can have very different experiences of books and you really get an I depth reason of why 😆
Oooh do you recommend movie then book or book then movie? 🤔 💜📚
