OMG!!!! WJZZ was the ish of jazz radio. It still saddens me that it's gone. I think it was 102.9 FM. Anyway, yes this was and still is one of my jams for a different reason today than it was yesterday. Man I would put this on repeat on my cassette tape, lol.
Yes 1989- 1990 babbyyy! Wjzz smooth jazz V98.7 quiet storm all day. I miss those days so much. I use to sing this in the hallway of Southfield High School lol
I went to Jr. High and High school with your cousin and I was in band with him in Jr. High thru High School. He was and still is the coolest jazz man I know. @@mrwilson1613Denise was heavily influenced by Phyllis Hyman and Jean Carne. That’s probably why the OP is imagining Phyllis sing it. She sounds just like her.
I was a teenager in the 80s when I first heard this song. I would make tapes simply recording from the radio. I'm a native washingtonian born and bred so anybody who knows DC knew about MELVIN'S MELODIES and the QUIET STORM. One night I was recording a song and I heard this afterwards; I listened to it and kept it on the tape because it sounded beautiful. And it sounds just as beautiful today. This song is the epitome of timeless
Yeah making tapes was what we did back then I use to go downtown to this record store and have them make tapes of songs that were rare or out of print right on Woodward ave downtown Detroit
Here in 2021, simply because music like this doesn’t get outdated. It’s not on Spotify & the CD & cassette is long gone. Calming, seductive music with depth & mood is rare nowadays. I wish artist would zero in on music like this, realize what an irreplaceable vibe it is & at least try to evolve the quality of music today to this level.
This song take me back to my younger days I love this song and yes 96.3 WHUR is were i heard it to in the 90s Melvin L, Bob James, Jeff brown these guys made the quite storm sound like Washington
Lazarick chatman I have 2 CDs of Craig T. Cooper. I think I've had these CDs about 10 yrs or more I love the guitar & he is a Great Guitarist. Very Unique! Also, when I was a teenager, I liked Wes Montgomery, "Bumpin on Sunset", some other favorites are, Larry Graham, Ernie Isley[youngest Bro] George Benson, Earl Klugh, Santana, Norman Brown & my BAD Man, Pat Metheny. There are others, that'll pop up in my mind later.😎😉🤗
The Rose was the one to give us great...quality music like this. When I hear certain songs from back in tha day I often think of those true radio personality's like Gerald McBride, Rosetta & others. Good times & Great, Real Music!
I used to play this cut on a r&b radio station I DJ'ed on back in 92' and loved it!! I felt that it should of been more sucsessful than it was. Beautiful vocals by Denise Stewart and a sensual jazzy arrangement by craig, it still sounds just as good as it did back then.
An absolutely BEAUTIFUL song!! Check out the EMOTION in:"I wanna say in every WAY I love you,but I'm AFRAID you've given UP on"us",and you NO longer CARE!!" i LOVE that part!!
I used to cry because I was going through some stuff with my other half. This hit every nerve in my emotional mentality. All I wanted was what she's saying. Now, today I listen only because it's beautiful music and I can smile.
Oh Lawd Yes!!!!!!! I still have my cassete of this LP "Got That Thang". Yoooz a damn lie if you say don't get caught up while floating your head back and forth listening to Denise A. Stewart do her most precious thang on this track....emm...emm....emmmm.......Ah Yeeaaaaaaah!
