      I've got one! 🙂
      I did try a Revival Drive a while back with my AC15 style amp and found it probably wasn't the best match for what I wanted, From what I can tell the DCX OD mode would be more "neutral" and might work better with my amps natural voice? Is that a fair assessment? I tend to run the amp approaching the point of clipping.

    • @OriginEffectsUK
      @OriginEffectsUK Před rokem +3

      @@Grant_Ferstat Seems like a fair assessment, the DCX is designed to be far more neutral in response rather than being a pre-voice amp recreation.

      how it differs from m-eq driver? or would it be good to stacked them both? @Origin Effects

    • @OriginEffectsUK
      @OriginEffectsUK Před rokem +3

      @@coversjms They're very different pedals and can stack nicely together. One has a push-pull output stage, one is single-ended. One is all about mids pushing, one is extremely flat with EQ curves in the lows and highs.

    Another amazing OE pedal that no studio (or pedalboard) should be without.

    This sounds like a BK Tube Driver. I love it.

    One of the best overdrives I've ever heard is the channel preamp on a 788.

    I only own the Cali 76 but I want try more of their pedals based on the quality of that one.

    This pedal design is the exact same as the pettyjohn lift … even with same LF and HF filters… the layout is also nearly identical… do you remember that pedal Andy?

    • @mranalog241
      @mranalog241 Před měsícem

      The only thing they have in common is high and low EQ controls, but so do a lot of other pedals. They sound entirely different and the circuit designs are unrelated.

    When I see the word preamp I have an expectation that the tone won’t take me too far away from the core sound of my rig. Maybe a hot take but I think the drive on this sounds kinda harsh and fizzy, not the best match for a rig based on a big clean fender amp. Great demo as always though.

    • @AndyDemos
      @AndyDemos  Před rokem +2

      In EQ mode it is very close to the sound of your rig, just like I showed. A studio preamp will distort differently, yes. So in OD mode, it’s closer to fuzz in some settings.

      @@AndyDemos I hear ya - it's obviously very versatile. i think the overdrive sound on this particular box is just not my flavor.

    Great overview as always. Would be interested in your thoughts regarding differences between this pedal and the M-EQ
    Thank you!

    • @AndyDemos
      @AndyDemos  Před rokem +6

      Good question! The M-EQ is more focused on being a midboost and voiced like a Pultec studio EQ. It also has the Adaptive high cut but also an internal transformer for more harmonic content. This DCX Boost has Treble and Bass EQ and is more focused on sounding like the 610 Preamp. Perhaps some crossover in functions but very clearly two different circuits!
