Big thanks to Herman for still using his BroadAxe Guitars modded EGEN with LED's. Was a ton of fun to do that work for him, and so glad to see him still using it on tour!
Excellent work!
Omg that guitar looks awesome! Great job man :)
Amazing job on that guitar. It looks like it would be SO fun to solo with that on your instrument ;)
Man... Cole Roland needs that chase LED treatment on his Kiesels ASAP.
Giving shoutouts to the guy who modded it --> always highly appreciated. Great wortk dude!
Pretty Awesome of Herman to give a long detailed run through of his gear. Half the time in these rig rundowns the band has their techs do it.
+Riversof Gore
Man and he was just so hype too haha
This is a testament to how much of an expert Herman Li is at his craft- he chose to explain everything in detail instead of dumbing it down. A lot of musicians don't know how half of their equipment actually works like he does.
Any good guitarist knows his shit dumbass.
Yeah, Sam was like, I"I basically use the same shit as Herman. I'll remind you what it's called"
Slash doesn't know is gear.
and he explained it so where normal people can understand it
The Super Q a lot of the musicians you listen to*
I love the incredible humility with which Herman Li treats his fans, his care to take the time to explain and show all his gear. He's a great human be, besides to be an incredible shredder. RESPECT
same here ,good comment☺
Its cos hes asian trust me im filipino
@@soupgaming5923 oh yeah? tell that to Kim Jong Un and see how asian he could be.
Sir heman still looks young
I got so happy when he said "this guitar can be yours" then I seen what year this video was and I was like FUCK
the tour isint over yet, you can still win it.
what site?
Me in 2021:
imagine me watching the video for the first time right now mid 2022... lol
Mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell.

+Ayrsawft heheh boi give the meat a good ol rub
give ya meat a good ol rub
Why did I just read that in Harrison Ford's voice
YEEEEEE'HEEEAAAA BWOOOIIIIIYYYY!!!!
you can say what you want about how the band plays and stuff, but you can't denial, those are some nice dudes!
the band plays awesome
And talented
Cool to see Herman doing the run-down himself, you can tell he's massively passionate and knowledgeable about guitars.
I don't know why people hate on this band so much, Herman absolutely shreds live, yeah he might miss a note or two but this isn't the studio and his songs aren't easy.
Sam Hoyek
a good musician plays his songs right. overproducing music is just stupid.
EZ Assegai and I bet you shred perfectly live in front of a sold out crowd, even John Petrucci misses a note from time to time they just want to release the music they love to write and not be limited to easier playing just to make playing live more simple no one is perfect 100% of the time
@@musicguy8912
why not write music that you can actually play?
Its his demeanor towards his skill that dumbed his status. If you watch his early materials, demos, and interviews the band including himself was hyped too much it cant compete with their actual skill at the time and they play drunk af during live performances so pretty much they suck.
@@jonjoni5282 I saw them live awhile back, and maybe they just took it easy on the drinking that night, but they were actually playing cleaner than I thought they'd be judging from watching their previous instructional/live videos which were sloppier, and I've played metal and "shred" type guitar for almost 20 years at this point. There's some ancient videos from around 10 years ago on my channel of my skinny ass playing a Dean RC7G Xenocide, Rusty Cooley's signature. I'm not claiming I'm the best shredder but I'm not the worst :)
Also the drummer can totally back up consistently what they recorded on their albums. He was probably the most impressive guy to see live among the band, to be honest. So I wouldn't say the entire band was all overhyped and can't compete with their actual skill. The drummer most certainly can, and like I said, Sam and Herman even surprised me that night a bit. The drummer I've rarely hear have a problem though, not only when I saw them, but across any live video of theirs as well, even in videos where Sam or Herman are flubbing it a bit or goofing around too much, the drummer seems to almost never falter. He's the band's rock solid foundation even when the other guys haven't always been so great. Hell, when I saw them live it was the keyboardist who screwed up and goofed around the most, pounding beers on stage and flubbing parts, lol.
You know your in love with your craft when you take a broken guitar and fix it as many times as it takes even though you can buy as many as you want
Herman's 7 string has probably the most beautiful finish I have ever seen.
The lights on his purple signature 6 string made my mouth water.
Amazing guitarist with the gear of my dreams
Their new drummer is a cool dude.
Does he know how to make pizza? Oh...sorry...wrong pun
@@naylow01 Probably. He's actually released 2 cooking videos on the official Dragonforce YT channel. One for pasta, another for Tiramisu.
When you watch that 3yrs later and realize that ibanez cannot be yours. 😢😞
a year and a half later, and I'm still wondering if Herman Li clipped all those rack straps back on.
After 5 years, this appears on my home.
For everyone who is reading comment in 2020, have a beautiful day.
Can I has beautiful day in 2021 too? Pretty pretty please 🥺
@@oanaomg7298 obviously, luv and peace!
Thanks in 2021 bro
Herman seems like the type of guy who you could walk up to, ask him a question about his gear, and he would talk to you about it for hours just because he knows you enjoy learning about the things he loves. I've never met him, I don't know anyone who's met him, but he gives off that I'm a gold human being vibe and it makes me enjoy his music more. Thank you, Herman!
if it's beat up and still works that means it's being played properly.
6:29 Damnnnn didn't think he was that strong, put his damn hand print in the guitar
The guitar is custom made with a grip for herman's hands because of how often he grabs that part of the guitar while playing. He puts it on almost all of his guitars, along with a cutout near the higher frets that allows playing the 20th through 24th a lot easier during solos.
funny

@@Creature--- when I made the comment I thought it was a woosh as well, but I kept it just in case because people need to know these things

Alright, after 5 min I have to say mad fucking respect to Herman, he is as passionate as the best gearholic gearhead out of Rig-talk !! Love how he is down to earth and laid back too.
These guys are so down to earth and cool! So glad I got to see them live! Amazing live performances and humble band! Love them.
Vadim almost looks like a Beastie Boys member . He's just like an expert keyboardist . Like damn I wonder how long it took to play that fast. Fury of the storm live is one of my favourites he played live . Especially with his new skull like bandana he likes to wear . Keep on making awesome music dragonforce .
What a bunch of knowledgable, nice, and down to Earth guys. I don't know much about Dragonforce at all and came out of this loving them. Thanks for posting!
Love these guys. Saw them live a few years back and they absolutely shredded. I’ve seen them 4 times so far and each time was better than the last.
wow. that herman's 7 strings are beautiful
17:45 Audioslave - Getaway Car in the background, RIP Chris.
Paul Sweeper fucking great song rip Chris Cornell fuckkkk
herman’s very humble, i wish i had a fraction of his playing skill. awesome gear run down too
wow, incredible rig and breakdown of his guitars and gear! Nice back up plan B too, the guitarists that have a lot going on, i.e. Steve, Joe Satch, Herman, and others, are techies too! It's a great learning experience to see how they approach their rigs.
Wow that rack looks really 90's. I love it.
No Axe-FX! I'm actually surprised.
Gitar ibanez yg dipakai Herman buatan Indonesia .. wew
Thank you Herman Li. For years I was lost trying to master Amaj7 arpeggios but because of you I now can play them like a god.
God how I love Ibanez! They're so beautifuuuul
I loooove Gee, my drum teacher and an amazing guy. But I miss Vadim so much. I'm glad that he's having a great time with his family though.
His tuner is more expensive than my amp lol
Droidux is your guitar more expensive than your car ? If not your doing it wrong lol JK
his tuner is more expensive than my car
I used to have hotwheels
He's British and Asian at the same time XD
and???
im asian and I find this funny as hell. Approved
he got influenced by sam's way of talking. haha
+Johnjoseph Po he lived in england for a few years, that's why he talks like this.
Yeah, he was born in Hong Kong but raised in England
Herman has an Australian accent on top of his Asian accent. It's awesome!
+Rika Furude china isnt in asia?
+Rika Furude yeah they do lol. Just keeping it real.
Australian? Think you'll find it's English.
Herman actually used to live in New Zealand with Sam.
@Rika Furude looool bet you from some pure white rural area to make you think that, come to LA or NYC or London, where you can find a bunch Asians speak the same accent just like locals
I love how Herman knocks Sam's black iceman into the white one and tries to play it off like it didn't happen aha
16:30 "WHAT ARE THOSE?!?!"
Very knowledgeable, talented and down to earth guys
it's 2015 and not even a single axe fx nor kemper exist in their guitar rig. Nice old technology can still sounds awesome.
But isn't his Rocktron preamp kinda like axe-fx which can create tons of effects and have tons of tone options?
+TheZooropaBaby Yes it is. It's pretty much the same as AxeFX but from an earlier generation.
But whether you think it sounds better or worse than the more sophisticated AxeFX, the rocktron is DF's signature sound.
I'm an Ibanez fan boi too.
What more is there to say?
Good vid as always, love your style.
Probably the best one yet :) You guys still owe us Frédéric's rig tho
Omg you absolutly habe to love Herman Li he is so humble its crazy
17:45, when the mood is right I strap it on, lol made me chuckle
I must be proud because indonesia made guitar for famous guitarist i love it FROM INDONESIA
this guy is so cool 😎
Who takes the time to go over all the guitars with detail.
So cool how both their rigs are running with Midi automation.
*Audioslave plays* "That's me singing right there
Drummer is such a cool guy he really went into detail too
10:14 gave me a heart attack.
Good god, FINALLY a keyboard rig rundown!! I love guitar rigs, don't get me wrong, but they're becoming less and less interesting... Most guitarists use gear that seems to be in a pool of 'essential' professional gear...and beyond that, whether it's common gear or not, it's pretty easily to understand how they're used. Universal, almost... but keys are so interesting! The hardware/software, sound design, patches, and how they use them in performance! It's always insightful to see how a player may store, recall, and switch their patches live.
what I really want to know is how Herman got his hair back. It is back to looking great these days, but was looking really rough during the period that this video was shot. It was to the point where he would have had to give up on it. I guess that a transplant is the most obvious answer to the question. But I don't recall a period where he was wearing a hat or anything..as transplants take many months to 'kick in'. Plus, when the person getting the transplant has long hair, the new hairs are going to be much shorter after they enter the growth phase and start to grow in. Some of you might think that this is a weird question, but I am very interested in these things. Hair transplants fascinate me.
man i really love n respect this legend!
This keeps coming up in my recommendations and has been since it came out two years ago (it's the 28th of 2017 today) and why it keeps coming up I don't know. I've watched this video like four times already.
I think you answered your own question hahahaha. You rewarded the algorithm for suggesting it to you four times, so it's going to keep doing it.
I like Herman Li' s guitar playing and seems like a cool guy !
"The search for Sam continues."
This was great!
Dudes at Gear Gods please do Rig Rundown for Iron Maiden, love your videos.
i'd love to see Angus Young do a rig rundown, he'd just be like "Here's my guitar" hahahha
Yoooo that guitar pick solution is sicc as hell. I've been using one of those rubber in-between-the-strings ones that go on the headstock and they keep falling out. Imma go by the store later and pick up something like that.
He has a Staktrak fade!!!!!
If you get that you are a god
+I fight shadows csgo
And it wasn't even battlescarred
StaTtrak :D
lol
Thanks Herman!
thanks herman for the info , I'm 7 years late to this video 😅
Me: "I've never seen any of these things!"... Herman: "you know, just your basic stuff" ???
Hermans 7 string is BEAUTIFUL!!!
It's not a "Zero-point system" if it doesn't have the ball-bearings instead of knife-edges. It's just a normal Edge zero with some Zero-point parts added on.
Say what you will, but Indonesia makes some damn fine guitars. I've literally never picked up a bad one, and I've played quite a few that came from there.
4:44 i've never seen someone that humble
Beautiful guitars
This guy has some of the coolest guitars around
When you're broke so you can't have anything like this
I feel ya man...😂😭
Brady Lavy Not necessarily true.
get out of your moms basement
I understand how you feel... I want a Alexi-600 White and it costs a fuckin' 1000 dollars.
Ein Walroß ?? What you mean?
8:24 To be honest, I think he polished it. I'm playing a S620 which has a matt black finish, and there where my arm rests and everywhere I touch it whyle playing it turned absolutly glossy. BUT there are a lot of spots which you re not touching if you do play, and these spots stay matt. No offence, but look at how his EGEN is totally shiny, I mean literally everywhere!
A lot of cool stuff in this vid.
I love how hermin still says “the bass player” lmao
Thank you BROTHER
beautiful guitars
those chaser lights on the fretboard are insane ....how the hell do they do that???
I would be super interested to know what they used for their earliest stuff. Have they always used Rocktron? Or did they use tube amps at any point?
i really love Herman's guitar signature.
Say what you want about their music, but that combined rig surely is efficient as fuck!
I was so scared the Axes were gonna fall out, when he put them back on the Rack !!! Hehehehehe :)
Such a sick guitarist and great guy ;)
I have no clue what any of this hardware is, but watched this anyway because Herman is freaking awesome. lol
my Yamaha rgx comes stock with the thing to limit the amount my bridge can pull up.
Anyone know what computer software Herman's using to control all these midi changes?
These guys are so lucky to be able to afford that kind of gear
has the competition for the egen 8 finished? i know its late i just wanna be sure
im so psyched to be going to see them this august though!!
+Tyler Christopher Yes it's been over for quite some time now, I happen to have been lucky enough to have won the Grand Prize and could not be more happy :)
anyone have a clue what amp and over drive models he is using on his rocktron prophecy?
Herman's accent is amazing! It's a mix of Asian and British at the same time!
Can anyone give a link for the pick holder they use on the headstock?
10:18 so lucky to have it. .
Wow!! They let Vadim be in the video!!!!!
DragonForce, you guys are awesome!!
Gee sounds like a Metalocalypse character 100%.
5:06 What springer in the guitar?
Please do a video with Sonata Arctica, Children of Bodom and Ghost!
Herman's 7 string is gorgeous!
is Herman's magnificent mane ever NOT blowing perfectly in the win
3:10 what are those called?
Anyone have a name on those things they use for the picks? Trying to find them on staples webpage... :p
+Simen Tostrup Neverdal yeah me too, cant find them tho...
where can i get those bridges n pick ups?
