    Explore the ocean with this NEW under-water Drone called the PowerRay from the company Power Vision. This little guy can hang out underwater for 2 hours without needing to recharge, and can find fish, drop bate, and more importantly take some awesome video with its 4K stabilized camera.
    Like I mention in the video, this makes a great underwater tool, BUT I would like it to have a side motor to push it along parallel to a subject that I am trying to film. It is amazing what technology can do. Exploring the Isla De Las mujeres, near Cancun, with an Underwater drone is pretty incredible.

    You can put it back together and make it waterproof again. Just make sure to take your time putting it together with the bead, the seal and the waterproof lubricant around the seal.
    Then torque down all 46/48 screws tight and it will be good. Those things are not vacuum sealed and are put together by hand in china so when can be put back together as it was the first time when it was made.

    That rubber gasket certainly will re-seal with no special procedures if you put it back together. It's different from a phone because the phone seal is torn and destroyed when you open it, but this one is designed to be resealable.
    You would want to tighten the screws gradually in a cross pattern to prevent damage to the gasket when reassembling.

    • @rurruth
      @rurruth Před 6 lety

      rjk I think ‪he need to reseal in a positive pressure chamber in order to get a counter force acting when this sub (or any normal watches) goes under water

    • @oznerol256
      @oznerol256 Před 6 lety +9

      Water pressure is intense. Every 10m depth adds another atmosphere of pressure. This drone is claimed to be water proof for up to 30m. Therefore this drone needs to withstand pressures from 1 atmosphere to 4 atmospheres. Since there is no mechanism for adjusting the internal pressure, the shell inevitably has to withstand a pressure differential. So the question is, how big and what direction? With a higher internal pressure, the shell is overpressurized when the drone is on the surface and underpressurized when it is at 30m depth. With a normal internal pressure, the drone is either in balance or underpressurized. Thus the shell only has to withstand one direction of pressure and it saves you from having a pressure chamber when assembling the drone. Of course, in this case the pressure differential the drone shell has to withstand is larger.
      So it comes down to a decision by the engineer behind this thing. Honestly, my guess is that no internal pressure (just 1 atmosphere) is used.

    • @chukob5
      @chukob5 Před 6 lety +3

      rjk ‪ you're right phones use an adhesive rather than a rubber gasket like you see here. This will definitely reseal just how it came

    • @psygnale
      @psygnale Před 5 lety +6

      "That rubber gasket certainly will re-seal with no special procedures if you put it back together."
      Exactly. I have no idea why this dude would assume this drones waterproofing is no longer any good.
      "...any time you take apart something waterproof, or water resistant, apart... it'll never be water resistant again until it's re-sealed."
      That was one of the strangest statements I've ever heard. If I'm interpreting his statement correctly, he's implying that this drone will NEVER be waterproof/resistant again since he's dismantled it...a statement that is demonstrably false.
      Anyone who has a whole house water filter (20BB's and the like) will recognize this method of waterproofing as very user serviceable >and easily resealabledoesn't get twisted and sheared< when the filter housing is put back on... And even THEN the filter ones work well enough that you can many times re-use the gasket rings if they're not stretched too much (Dow Corning Valve Lube and Sealer is excellent for these types of applications).

    • @moodberry
      @moodberry Před 5 lety

      @@oznerol256 It seems like a mod to the drone to put in a pressurizing port would be useful. You could pressurize it on site if you were going to go deeper that usual, conceptually getting perhaps double the depth limit depending on how much pressure you put in at the surface.

    I agree, it needs on prop up front that point sideways so you can "steer" the drone in the direction you want, it would work because you wouldn't need it on all the time, only when you need to steer, so you'll still get excellent battery life :D

    I love it, particularly the hook bait dropping mechanism because this can serve two other purposes that I can see!
    A small super magnet would make for cool retrieving sets of keys a phone with an SD card in it and with super magnets as small as they are and lightweight you could probably pick up a gun, it could also be used to set markers saving a lot of pre-dive time, I don't want one I want to manufacture! 🥰😎👍

    Hey zack,
    The greasy material you talked about is silicon grease and it is very famous in underwater isolation and as a kind of protection the oring itself. I think if you want to reassemble this drone you can and it will still be waterproof as we use similar oring like that in ROV vehicles several times and we dive to 3000 meters so don’t worry about waterproofing as it is different from mobile phones.

    Underwater drone?? You mean, submarine?
    What's next, a land drone instead of remote control car?

    • @maksymtt
      @maksymtt Před 6 lety

      I know, just found it funny because usually drones are the things that fly around in the sky, so it's weird that everything remote controlled nowadays will be called drone

    Hold on. "I'm gonna keep this one for parts"... say that again, but slower. If you use that one for parts, that means you have to take another one apart to replace said parts. Thus making the new one only good for parts. Using your logic that is. Just put that one back together!! hahaha:)
