My grandmother used to say almost every night," another day nearer home!". And when she had her stroke she whispered to me that she was going home. I only realised a long time after she died that she was talking about going to Heaven.
BRAVO Father! My dear mother suffered so her last three to four years on earth. Every day she fought to live. She was 88 and on dialysis until shortly before her death. We, my brother in particular, fought for her until her last breath. It was when she received last rites that I recognized Protestant churches were not my home and I came home to our Catholic faith.

Imagine your soul being a race and life is a marathon. The reward is heaven but we need to cross the finish line to get there. You've trained so hard for this tough hard working race but at the 100 meter line you stop because your tired and you want to quit...that's how I would describe medical suicide. As a practicing Catholic registered nurse in Toronto who has refused to refer patients for MAiD and convinced patients to not die by MAiD, I aporeciate your message, Father Mark. However, I would like to clarify your point about morphine. In patients who are actively dying, large amounts of morphine will not hasten death. Without adequate sedation and pain management from medications such as morphine, the patient will die sooner and with much discomfort due to the stress of +++pain, difficulty breathing, +++discomfort. Not only does morphine ease pain, but it also relaxes the breathing muscles, allowing the dying patient to breathe easier.
Thank you for this message. I administer medication at an assisted living facility and given morphine and alprozalam as ordered per their doctors.This message comforts me. It's not been overly ordered, or I would have refused. Seeing someone in pain is heartwrenching.
I'm not a medical person but unfortunately I'm very aware of drugs. Morphine and the likes will slow down your breathing and it will Stop. I've had to Force myself to Stay awake, knowing that if I close my eyes, I'm Dead. I will choose Wisely and avoid this crap. ✌️ Lots of morphine will kill you, regardless who's saying it.

Decades ago I was a hospice volunteer. The families (and the patients) all suffered as the time came closer for the loved one to die. However, I was present when relationships were healed, a renewal of faith happened and when acceptance became joy. The process is more than just pain. Taking your life ends the pain..and the blessings you could have had.

The state couldn't believe what I was telling them, and if I would have given them the information that I had, which they wanted badly, they would have come in and shut that agency down completely, while they would have investigated them... And by the way, this whole mess started, when a nurse tried to pressure me over the phone to administer to a client morphine, under the guise that it's very easy and harmless and practically impossible to overdose anyone with it!!! This lie was so big, and so dangerous, that I could've shut down an entire agency over it. My point is that we have to be very careful when we downplay the effects of Morphine. We don't want to end up like that nurse who almost caused the shutdown of an entire healthcare agency over her negligence and ignorance...:)💘🕊️🙏
It doesn’t end the pain except mortal. Suicide is a deep offense to God, a rejection of His gift of life. Life is battle. You have a mission. Jesus didn’t reject his cross or avoid it…though as the Son of God he could have. LOVE is stronger than suffering.
As a hospice worker morphine doesn't hasten death, it helps the patient let go, relax and have a peaceful passing. Morphine is never given until you are in the active dying stage. Blessings ❤
No one has the right to play God. You cannot decide when someone is 'actively dying' because you assume the role of the Creator. You are ruling out God's intervention in the situation. Use medications to reduce pain, okay. But many Healthcare workers have now decided its okay to keep dosing more and more to kill.
Recent whistle-blower nurses have come forward in May 2023 to tell the public that hospitals were forcing morphine on patients during covid-19. It would end their life, given their symptoms. They were not in the dying stages but rather forced into it.

Dear Fr. Mark, Your preaching is GREAT, PRAISE GOD! A good friend of mine died yesterday. His name, Gary Taylor. His experience of death was profoundly Catholic. I also am a RN who was privileged to work with the Sisters of Providence in St. Mary of the Woods, Indiana, USA. I watched my holy friend as well as many sisters who died accept their suffering as God's will for each of them as well as participate in redemptive suffering for their souls or others. I love this! :) I can't believe a Catholic would ever think assisted suicide, euthanasia, capital punishment or abortion was okay. Ending someone's life is God's job, not ours. And Doctors are supposed to do no harm! Doctors need our prayers because they are confused these days about what doing no harm means, it seems.

We NEED more brave priests! Thank you Father for speaking the truth! As Catholics we know we are expected to suffer! My mom was so awesome when she was suffering her last few months. She just did as much as she could and prayed & prayed & prayed. She knew! Our parish priest came by and said to her, “Its okay Jane. You’ve been a good and faithful servant”. She passed away 6 hours after that 🙏

Thank you Fr. Mark for speaking the truth! Last night I watched the season finale of 9-1-1: Lone Star and it bothered me so much. Shows like these are masterminding weak people who think MAID is the answer to suffering. Rob Lowe’s character agreed to his brother’s dying by suicide. I have lost so much respect for actors, writers, directors and producers that allow these shows to filter the minds with suicide as an easy way to leave this earth. Unfortunately it showed also the marriage of two men and kissing so much it made me sick again for the viewers. No respect….all for money and ratings. I pray that all tv shows that give the wrong message have very low ratings and need to cancel them. Truly sad world we are in. Come Lord Jesus!

Sufferings can be powerful prayers if we offer them up in union with the sufferings of Christ. We are his body, so whatever we suffer, he suffers with us.
"Catholics are not Christians because they don't believe in Jesus Christ" according to a baptist pastor at a church in our area. When asked/challenged about this, the baptist pastor denied saying it and apologized. Three of us heard him say it, but we accepted his apology. Yesterday, another member of that pastors congregation said exactly the same thing. We now tend to believe the baptist pasture meant what he said the first time despite his denial and apology.

Thank you for speaking out about this. I lost a family member to suicide, who turned out was a big advocate for assisted suicide. The organization he was helping has a faction that wants to stop suicide prevention programs as they believe that suicide is the solution to stop the worlds suffering. They even help minors to kill themselves and teach them how to hide plans from their parents. They are extremely anti prolifers as they think life is just horrible suffering. They hate the prolife movement because they are strong advocates for abortion and suicide. They believe forcing people to live is immoral and that they are freeing people from suffering. They believe that suicide prevention programs are a attack on the human right to die. They even have goodbye thread parties when members announce that they are commiting suicide and praise that person. Another organization he was working with was calling euthanasia as "finishing strong" and set up a hotline with staff to help people to stick to it and do it quickly least they change their minds. When he died, he left premeasured poison and instructions so that his parents could kill themselves to stop the pain of losing their son. The government was alerted about this organization but cannot do much since the website was made by lawyers outside of the US. The governments hands are tied because it there is freedom of speech and the lawyers are very good with loopholes and following regulations as well as lying and changing their website after spotlight gets placed on them. Please watch for people joining suicide groups on Facebook. Call family members and check on them frequently. Make a call and letter writing schedule. Checking in and making time to listen is the best thing you can do to reduce as well as stop sinning. Also please support your local suicide prevent programs as they will be becoming under attack soon as this group is growing quickly. This website is a community made up of mostly the mentally ill and young people between the ages of 16 to 30. It is not like older generations of assisted suicide groups. I hate to scare people but this needs to be known. This is arising because so many young people are in terrible suffering. They are trapped in horrible relationships, anxiety, and so on. Please be kind.

Imagine your soul being a race and life is a marathon. The reward is heaven but we need to cross the finish line to get there. As a practicing Catholic registered nurse in Toronto who has refused to refer patients for MAiD and convinced patients to not die by MAiD, I aporeciate your message, Father Mark. However, I would like to clarify your point about morphine. In patients who are actively dying, large amounts of morphine will not hasten death. Without adequate sedation and pain management from medications such as morphine, the patient will die sooner and with much discomfort due to the stress of +++pain, difficulty breathing, +++discomfort. Not only does morphine ease pain, but it also relaxes the breathing muscles, allowing the dying patient to breathe easier.

Thank you for this message. I administer medication at an assisted living facility and given morphine and alprozalam as ordered per their doctors.This message comforts me. It's not been overly ordered, or I would have refused. Seeing someone in pain is heartwrenching.
I'm not a medical person but unfortunately I'm very aware of drugs. Morphine and the likes will slow down your breathing and it will Stop. I've had to Force myself to Stay awake, knowing that if I close my eyes, I'm Dead.

Decades ago I was a hospice volunteer. The families (and the patients) all suffered as the time came closer for the loved one to die. However, I was present when relationships were healed, a renewal of faith happened and when acceptance became joy. The process is more than just pain.
Taking your life ends the pain..and the blessings you could have had.

Please know that at least one of my clients, and confirmed this with others, morphine is not the end all... some people will actually become more sensitive to pain when they take morphine, probably because their system builds up a tolerance to it ( I don't pretend to know the technical terms here...), so then this becomes an excuse, especially in hospice situations, for the patient to be given more drugs...and morphine is very dangerous dear, it causes frequent and easy overdoses, and the reason why it slows down the breathing, it because it greatly reduces a person's metabolic rate...in other words, it artificially slows down the body and shuts it down...If moraine wasn't so dangerous and so lethal, I wouldn't have had the power to shut down the Agency I was working for ( even in a liberal state such as California:), because they were allowing their clients to pressure their private caregivers into administering morphine, (which is illegal to do unless you are a registered nurse or doctor or relative of the client/patient)...
The state couldn't believe what I was telling them, and if I would have given them the information that I had, which they wanted badly, they would have come in and shut that agency down completely, while they would have investigated them...
And by the way, this whole mess started, when a nurse tried to pressure me over the phone to administer to a client morphine, under the guise that it's very easy and harmless and practically impossible to overdose anyone with it!!!
This lie was so big, and so dangerous, that I could've shut down an entire agency over it.
My point is that we have to be very careful when we downplay the effects of Morphine. We don't want to end up like that nurse who almost caused the shutdown of an entire healthcare agency over her negligence and ignorance...:)💘🕊️🙏

As a hospice worker morphine doesn't hasten death, it helps the patient let go, relax and have a peaceful passing. Morphine is never given until you are in the active dying stage. Blessings ❤
No one has the right to play God. You cannot decide when someone is 'actively dying' because you assume the role of the Creator. You are ruling out God's intervention in the situation.
Use medications to reduce pain, okay. But many Healthcare workers have now decided its okay to keep dosing more and more to kill.
Recent whistle-blower nurses have come forward in May 2023 to tell the public that hospitals were forcing morphine on patients during covid-19. It would end their life, given their symptoms. They were not in the dying stages but rather forced into it.
People have incorrect ideas about dying

As St. Faustina wrote, “If the angels were capable of envy, they would envy us for two things: one is the receiving of Holy Communion, and the other is suffering” (Diary, 1804), “Suffering is the greatest treasure on earth; it purifies the soul. She just did as much as she could and prayed & prayed & prayed. She knew! Our parish priest came by and said to her, “Its okay Jane. You’ve been a good and faithful servant”. Thank you Fr. Mark for speaking the truth! Last night I watched the season finale of 9-1-1: Lone Star and it bothered me so much. Shows like these are masterminding weak people who think MAID is the answer to suffering. Rob Lowe’s character agreed to his brother’s dying by suicide. I have lost so much respect for actors, writers, directors and producers that allow these shows to filter the minds with suicide as an easy way to leave this earth. Unfortunately it showed also the marriage of two men and kissing so much it made me sick again for the viewers. No respect….all for money and ratings. I pray that all tv shows that give the wrong message have very low ratings and need to cancel them. Truly sad world we are in. Come Lord Jesus!

When asked/challenged about this, the baptist pastor denied saying it and apologized. Three of us heard him say it, but we accepted his apology.
Yesterday, another member of that pastors congregation said exactly the same thing.
We now tend to believe the baptist pasture meant what he said the first time despite his denial and apology.

Thank you for speaking out about this. I lost a family member to suicide, who turned out was a big advocate for assisted suicide. The organization he was helping has a faction that wants to stop suicide prevention programs as they believe that suicide is the solution to stop the worlds suffering. They even help minors to kill themselves and teach them how to hide plans from their parents. They are extremely anti prolifers as they think life is just horrible suffering. They hate the prolife movement because they are strong advocates for abortion and suicide. They believe forcing people to live is immoral and that they are freeing people from suffering. They believe that suicide prevention programs are a attack on the human right to die. They even have goodbye thread parties when members announce that they are commiting suicide and praise that person. Another organization he was working with was calling euthanasia as "finishing strong" and set up a hotline with staff to help people to stick to it and do it quickly least they change their minds. When he died, he left premeasured poison and instructions so that his parents could kill themselves to stop the pain of losing their son. The government was alerted about this organization but cannot do much since the website was made by lawyers outside of the US. The governments hands are tied because it there is freedom of speech and the lawyers are very good with loopholes and following regulations as well as lying and changing their website after spotlight gets placed on them. Please watch for people joining suicide groups on Facebook. Call family members and check on them frequently. Make a call and letter writing schedule. Checking in and making time to listen is the best thing you can do to reduce as well as stop sinning. Also please support your local suicide prevent programs as they will be becoming under attack soon as this group is growing quickly. This website is a community made up of mostly the mentally ill and young people between the ages of 16 to 30. It is not like older generations of assisted suicide groups. I hate to scare people but this needs to be known. This is arising because so many young people are in terrible suffering. They are trapped in horrible relationships, anxiety, and so on. Please be kind.
