We have 9 bins that are just about all different sizes. They all have either soybeans in them, barley or wheat. Each bin is a different variety of those three. It all comes together for a seed plant where we go and clean, bag, and sell seed. I am used to a bin sweep I'll tell you that!!
My son (2) and I watch these videos every night before bedtime. He yells “watch tractors” so we found your channel and love it. But something about this video puts him to sleep and I’m not mad about it. Thanks for entertaining my son and teaching me things I didn’t know I needed to know 🙂
Thank you Ryan. Glad you all had an outlet to sell your/Dad`s corn for a little better profit. That would have me puckered up pulling that long an elevator in the rain home, LOL.
Driving down the road in the 4640 looking straight ahead, it reminds me of one of Travis' most-viewed videos. I take it that this amount of rain was nowhere near "A Good Time To Panic". Rain makes grain, and grain means money in your pockets. It's nice to see you clear out the remainder of last year's crop, if only because that means you're one step closer to the next harvest. It's all a process that never seems to end (not that that's a bad thing from the viewers' perspective).
You and your family always remind myself and many others that family farming, and farming in general, is important and involves much more time than most expect. You paint the true picture of the farm life. Thank you and god bless your folks and crops!
We had a 4640 with front wheel assist, always blew the hydraulic hose and was a big mess to fix because it would blow out a couple of gallons of hydraulic fluid before you could get it shut off .
Old iron makes great videos. The 4020 and the 4640 are my favorites. I especially like the 46 when it billows smoke! Safety question? I know dust is dangerous for possible explosions so what do you do to keep the chances of an explosion from happening. Someone please answer. Thanks.
Minimize the dust... and of course ignition sources... Not much you CAN do... grain goes in the bin usually there's an electric motor slinger up there to spin the grain out into the bin so it rises *more or less* level as it fills, and of course the stirrators are powered by electric motors. Usually you have sealed electric motors and sealed lights and stuff in/around the bin to minimize ignition sources in high dust concentrations, that's about it. There was a rice (IIRC) elevator explosion in Houston about 30 years ago, blew a guy clean off the top of some 100 ft plus concrete rice silos he was dead when he hit the ground... blew the top 15-20 feet off the silos and they abandoned the elevator and then imploded it for development about 10 years later... Later! OL J R :)
hey Ryan so i can tell that farm is abandon but do yall store anythint in that shed i see somthing but not sure i know yall farm the land and use the bin but not sure ..... love the vids keep it up
I have a nice rebuilt 640 Kinze cart with large tires that would work well behind a 4640. Wish you were closer to buy it. There is no skilled labor to operate one. There is no market around here because most are much larger with articulating duels to go over sprinkler ruts and easily fill a semi in 2 minutes. A 4640 is very rare around here and not in daily use as all went to Mexico years ago.
That was a flat bottom... it's just an air floor-- raised false floor with air slits in the metal so fans can blow air up through the corn to aerate it and prevent mold... Don't know if they have a dryer on that one or not... basically you add a propane or natural gas burner behind the fan and you've got a dryer... but even with dry grain you DO have to aerate it as the weather changes from warm to cold and back again to prevent condensation and mold... Cone bottom bins are usually much smaller and are used to hold grain that is frequently emptied out, not stored long-term... they're also a lot more expensive and can't hold as much grain for a given size because of the cone bottom... Later! OL J R :)
Maybe someday you guys could get a grain vac I've used one for years sure takes a lot of the back braking shoveling out of it. Even used vac's are expensive
Another great video, leads to more questions. How far are you away from your dad's and brothers farms? Whose in the middle? Is it ever too late for rain for your crops? Do you rotate your crops to different fields? Do I ask too many questions?
Tomas Keating This Farm is about a 15 minute drive (or 40 minute via 4020) from the main farms. Rockville is the main farm, and is the central farm. Once the crops start drying the rain won’t do much to help, though we’ve had plenty up until now. We tend to rotate most of our fields between corn and beans to reduce Nitrogen fertilizer use. Never too many questions :)
You need to get the Rino the side mount one and cut that grass, before you will no longer see that house...Is there a possibility to run both at the same time..just curious,, :))
Sorry Ryan ,i don,t have a lot off money so i can not go to give money Every time.wish iT was diverent.when i earn more i going to be a paying fan .love the vlogs 👍👍👍👍👌🏻✌🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️
It appears that the grain truck is limited by weight because it is only a single axle tractor. The driver needs a 2 axle tractor to fill the trailer to capacity.
Why not just let the truck backup to the chute? Rather than transferring grain from the bin, to the cart, then to the truck? Not enough room for the truck?
Im surprised you don't have one of them Sthil Powered Brushes to sweep the bottom of that silo out. Would think it would be easer and quicker then all that shovelling.
Yeah, I guess... never seen an electric one... Agree it would save some work but as my Grandpa would have said, "that's the height of laziness!" If they had 20-30 bins, sure; save every step you can... but just a few-- hard work but it's a good workout... LOL:) Not much for ventilation in those bins lemme tell ya... not when you're in there cleaning it out. MAYBE you've got a little bitty side door open, MAYBE. (Looks like they just climbed in from the top!) Even the side doors don't provide much ventilation. Don't say, "just turn on the blower" either-- that would raise SO much dust you'd be choking for a week! Running a small engine in an enclosed space is a recipe for suicide... we have it happen every year nearly down here... we get a particularly cold spell or cold snap or ice storm, power goes off, some numb-nut will bring their gas-powered generator INDOORS to keep it from getting stolen, and gas themselves with carbon monoxide... People just don't have any sense anymore... Later! OL J R :)

You're not the first person to say my videos help with that. Glad I could help :)

So great to see the 4640 again Love that tractor!!! Thanks for the great video keep them coming
Andrew Busshardt m
Those old sound-gard Deere’s still look so good, even if they do like being in the shop
You and your family always remind myself and many others that family farming, and farming in general, is important and involves much more time than most expect. You paint the true picture of the farm life. Thank you and god bless your folks and crops!
I love that sound of John Deere 4640 message right there I learned how to drive
Hey Ryan just want you to know that I enjoy watching all of your videos and you do an excellent job. Keep it up!!
Great video Ryan I love seeing that 46
Great video. You explain things well. Love the dogs.... farms and dogs go together so well
Your dog is nice and clearly exited to be part of the farm working group :)
Hey Ryan I would love to come visit you’re farm one day! I started farming in northeastern New Mexico this yeah and wow it’s a learning experience.
I love those old tractors, great video Ryan!!!!!!!
Cowman2017 John Deere 8235R thanks!
Been waiting for the day that the 4640 got put on the Brent. Great video!
Always gonna watch if the 46 is in it
Hey bud your videos have always been great. Mark, Bemidji, MN.
That brent doesn't look big on the farm but on the road it looks huge lol. Nice video, thanks.
Love to see the 4640 agin
We had a 4640 with front wheel assist, always blew the hydraulic hose and was a big mess to fix because it would blow out a couple of gallons of hydraulic fluid before you could get it shut off .
46 looks good on that grain cart
Good job on loading the grain cart ahead of time. I know the truck driver appreciates it...👍👍✌️
Thanks for sharing Ryan..
Awesome video. Thanks.
Nice catch on the camera!!
Ya'll should pour concrete pads under the unload chute so you can just sweep up the spilt grain less waste
looks like you got good rain and the crops look good, I have cleaned out a lot of bins like that. Dog used to be close so he could look for mice etc.
rain always a mixed blessing with a curse. you don't want to get wet and sick but you want the rain for the crops.
I dont know why but i love these loading and unloading videos. Maybe its the production background in me.
Awsome video Ryan
Did anyone see that sidehill in the shed
Now that's a experienced shovel man, love to see it.
Enjoy the rain, very dry in North Missouri! Ponds are drying up, starting to become a real problem for the cattle producer
Nice video 👍
4640 is my favorite tractor .
Johnny Essick I like the case 4210. I'm not a huge fan of John deer. I'm. A case guy through and through.
Derek Jean I was too till I bought my John Deere .
Nice job
Dude, I love your Dog's :)

Enjoyed the video! Great job! :)

Hi nice video
Did anyone else notice the electrical cord was practically against the sweep auger belt at 11:50
Ryan you should have used the 7600 to pull grain cart.
The 7600’s drawbar bends bad enough with the EZ-trail, let alone the Brent.
Gotta love the 4640
great video! I love the videos with the 4640 in it!
Why aren’t storage bins made with flat bottoms instead of tapered bottoms?
That was a flat bottom... it's just an air floor-- raised false floor with air slits in the metal so fans can blow air up through the corn to aerate it and prevent mold... I think the 82 looks nicer on it
Great video, when do you start harvesting corn? ❤️😀
Maxim Laliberté 5-6 weeks
i love rocket. great video.
Ever had a sweep chase u around the bin!? I kno ours will if u dont unplug it in time
Great video!
When I work with corn I usually end up looking like a human powdered donut, because of the dust.
I’m eating popcorn watching this ;)
Got get old girls to work :)
We have Brent 772 in green.
Can you do start up video on all your equipment please
I hope you got a good price for these trailers of corn
Greetings from Lithuania ! Love your vids :)
hey Ryan I has wondering if you were going to do the harvest beard thing again? that was kinda funny the few years you have done it!
Greetings from Norway.
you should get the extended warning lights for the 46
Did the gehl chopper boxes of your grandpa's never sell? I see some red ones in the shed at that farm
That 4640 sure is a sexy tractor
Nice video crops are looking good
How about explaining the grain bins at this location, like the size?
Maybe someday you guys could get a grain vac I've used one for years sure takes a lot of the back braking shoveling out of it. Even used vac's are expensive
Looks impressive

Hi Rocket. :)
Hi Ryan
BullBogHipHop Beast Hello!
You should record more when you mix feed for the cows.
Rocket is a good boy
You need to get the Rino the side mount one and cut that grass, before you will no longer see that house...Is there a possibility to run both at the same time..just curious,, :))

Don’t worry about it, I don’t want anyone becoming a member who can’t afford it. Put yourself first
Thx😁👍❤️
great vid have a great wknd
You should get a case magnum
No duals on the 4640? When did you take them off?
What are the combine plans this year? Stay with the 9510..lease..demo? Thanks..really enjoy your videos!!
how come you make rocket ride in the back of the pickup he should be riding inside so he stays safe
How many ticks do you get off of your dogs at a days time?
Great video! What area do you live in?
Hope you got a decent price on the corn! 👍
Nice to see the 4640 again! It's been a little while. Hope you guys get/got a good price for the corn. Awesome video as always!
How long does corn last in a silo ?
Adam Bussert it can last for a year or two but most people empty them after a year
Thanks
It appears that the grain truck is limited by weight because it is only a single axle tractor. The driver needs a 2 axle tractor to fill the trailer to capacity.
Looks like a shorty trailer anyway... OL J R :)
Awseome video
do you still have that farm
Hey Ryan when will the next livestream be?
I don’t have one scheduled. I’ll make a post on the community tab of my channel when it’s 24 hours out
How Farms Work OK Sir
Is that a 10 in or a 8-inch oger
You guys need a bigger combine!!
Need better grain prices to justify it! OL J R :)
is the 46 turned up at all
Very
Why it blows such black smoke when they put the coals to it... OL J R :)
We have a John Deere 4840 with a 8 seed forward 4 speed reverse power shift what does the 4640 have in it?
A plastic snow shovel while you bin sweep will change your lives for the better
Why not just let the truck backup to the chute? Rather than transferring grain from the bin, to the cart, then to the truck? Not enough room for the truck?
It saves the truck 30-45 minutes of waiting.
Nice video!;)
why not just back semi directly under the auger from corn bin? less fuel burned is better right?
grimthenoble they do it this so the truck driver does not have wait to load. Me being a truck driver I pat them on the back for doing it this way👍👍👍✌️
Why sell all of the corn if you have a storm yet and your crops get damaged then you don't have any corn.
Get it out of the way get the bins clean and empty and ready for harvest...
Later! OL J R :)
Im surprised you don't have one of them Sthil Powered Brushes to sweep the bottom of that silo out. Would think it would be easer and quicker then all that shovelling.
Running it in an enclosed bin?? Sounds like a good way to get gassed with fumes...
later! OL J R :)
You could be correct depends on the ventilation on the bin. Could get an electric version of the brush.
Yeah, I guess... never seen an electric one...
Agree it would save some work but as my Grandpa would have said, "that's the height of laziness!" If they had 20-30 bins, sure; save every step you can... but just a few-- hard work but it's a good workout... LOL:)
