I was never a Murcielago fan at the time they were on sale..For me the Ferrari F50 was it. But with years gone by and time, the Murci has aged really well. This example is stunning and optioned with the correct 6-speed manual!

That opening beat is funky fresh
It's funny, you briefly touched up on it, but the quality definitely improved on the later 580s. They also got many "updates" found on the lp640s like simple non-electronic shocks, smarter ECUs, larger brakes, options, etc. I've been lucky to be able to drive my manual 06 back to back against a manual 07 LP640. Other than the different character of the 580 engine (more low end torque, less upper RPM power, lower redline), the 06 and the 07 felt very very similar. I'm glad to see 580s finally getting some love.
This is what I'm talking about , a "plain jain" Lamborghini without all the extra options is just so clean , simple and elegant . I love it .

So, what 150k car are you driving currently? Kidding aside, with F40s costing what they are despite being produced in way larger numbers, LP640s could well have gone on to be down to single-digit numbers and Zonda prices if no-one caught on.
There were other people who tracked production numbers besides Ed. Roy Catt's has sold most of them and has sold the rarest Murci 6 speed examples.

I saw an identical orange LP640 manual in Toronto. I still have the pictures too.
Being an older gentleman, I go for the modern turbo-engines with their immense mid-range torque. There is no need to rapp them out and annoy the neighborhood. Having said that, I was young once and so this video is a throwback for me. This LP640 also looks exceptional.
I’m 40 and I don’t think I’ll ever get over the scream of a naturally aspirated high revving engine. Just don’t drive like a douche around your neighborhood. 😂
