I’m sitting in the USA cheering my favorite dog spinning around finding the perfect spot for a nap in his brand new shed and I haven’t been this happy all week! He loves it! Great job!! 🎉🎉🎉

@jacquelineridler5933 No, that's a dumb idea because bugs will be crawling all over the bed or living under it. No one would put a bed outside they made are for indoors only. I watch other CZcamsrs and they have dogs and they don't use beds for their dogs outside they use bed in the garage.
Perhaps one of those cots? If he’d use it, of course. Though I think he just loves snuggling into the grass.
That's absolutely the best feeling - when you build something for your dog and he/she actually uses it as intended! WhooHoo!!! Looks really great as well!
He cou 3:02 ld use a bed or a blanket at least that ground Is hard on his hips but you do take real good care of him you did a great job on shed

Then you get a cat a massive climbing tree, after hours of construction they ignore it and keep playing with the box.
What about a hot water bottle. And waterproof damp proof bed. It is a lovely job you did 👌

Until the rain/snow blows in or the water runs under it since there's no floor. I know from personal experience. Lol I forgot about a floor and doors or a hanging roll down outdoor blind.. which i used. Still got some spray, but I didn't want to totally close it in. 😊😉

@JBReed-tn6vc I thought the same... maybe Sherpa has so many treats, the lawnmower doesn't fit. Lol But everything is at the mercy of the elements unless they never come from that one direction. Sill the ground will be wet no matter what. I hav an awning over my deck, but when it's foggy or misty rain, things still get wet because it's not fully enclosed. If that what he's shooting for, that's cool. But the lawnmower is going to get wet. I also hope he caulked the heck out of the overlapped roof to stop the wind from blowing water underneath it. The roof doesn't have a deep slope. It does look good overall.

You're absolutely right that Sherpa couldn't ask for a better Dad! Jamie is AWESOME!💯☝️🐾🐶By the way my best friend of 53 years moved to Vonore, Tennessee 8 years ago and loves it there! She has a log cabin and owns a huge piece of property with trails she walks her dogs on everyday! I miss her so much but we talk on the phone and text each other! 💞 I'm suppose to go see her next month but I have COPD & on oxygen 24/7 and she said it gets humid there. I don't care I'm going anyway. I'm 63 & want to see her & her husband before I die. My health is getting horrible.
11.45 am my mums dog passed away yesterday ❤😢 I am counting the hours without him at the moment and I will probably do that for a long time 💔

A sliding barn door, partially closed during storms, would be nice for Sherpa. Also a waterproof pad that could be rinsed off with a hose. I love the new shelter!
Each blade of grass closely inspected before he could lie down safely. It looks great.
Now you need a bed with a waterproof underside for Sherpa to lie on in the shelter. That way he's not going to be lying on the ground with the damp coming through to him.
Even just a slightly raised (just an inch or 2) wooden platform would suffice. Maybe not as comfy, but would work. I would suggest a 24 inch drop across the top of the opening to help keep rain from getting in. Don't know from which direction it typically rains there, but that little bit of closure at the top would help.

Agreed: some base. And something to block wind and rain. It appears many responses, not this one, think grass and an open side is fine. It isn't. From a Long time multiple dog owner.

Now, there's shade in the summer and shelter when it rains. He can be outside regardless of the weather unless it gets too bad, then it's back to the cottage house. 😊

People seem to be forgetting that Sherpa is built for cold and absolutely loves sleeping in the GRASS. That was the point of the shed...to let him enjoy being outside in the GRASS no matter the weather. All this talk of beds etc.. no. If he wants a bed he will go inside.
Sherpa is older. While he loves grass. He might benefit from a base on the new shed grass. Some responses indicate a bed. And one side is still open to wind and rain.
Sherps has a new covered sleep zone. This will provide shelter from the rain. Thank you Jamie for providing this lovely place for our Sherps. Cheers Jamie.❤😊

You don't need a door on mower section Jamie. My Dad had his stored just like yours for 20 years. In the winter time he just put a Plastic Tarp over it and it was fine. I don't think anyone can remove your lawnmower from your backyard . Your yard is all fenced in and you have a alarm if someone is outside. If you choose a door that is up to you. I just wanted to let you know its fine the way it is . Fantastic job . We are so proud of you . We love you and Sherpa.

I can totally empathize. I built this ridiculously complicated doghouse for my huskies that allowed for air to travel through, circulate and exit the strategically placed vents to keep them cool during the hot Virginia summers while being warm and snuggly when the vents were closed during the snowy winters, so I was absolutely thrilled when they used them without being prompted.
They were always allowed inside via a petdoor, but they loved the freedom of being outside to interact with nature and exercise as well. And yes, they always slept on my bed at night. Fun fact: Huskies don't smell when wet and are extraordinarily easy to keep clean. Not so fun fact: They require almost daily grooming to keep their fur from getting matted, though it's a great way to bond with them too, not to mention at least 5 miles of exercise 2-3 times a day - before work, after work, and before bed.
Well at least Sherps has'nt used the bit of grass between the shed & shelter yet. That idea might come more in the summer when its hot as it might stay cooler there. Lots of Love Annette❤❤❤❤❤❤🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🥰🥰🥰😍😍😍

Hi Sherpa's dad and Sherpa , Wow it didn't take long for him to figure that out. He is definitely gonna love that spot this summer. And you did amazing job on that build and it only took you 4 days fantastic job.

If I may give some advice: the spinning around in circles before lying down is a sign of discomfort caused by artritis. You need to put him on something like Librela or an NSAID. An orthopedic dog bed with a layer of memory foam will be much appreciated also. I have seen 2 Huskies (1 still around and age 11 now) and 6 American Akitas (1 still around and age 13,5 now) grow old. And all of them stayed happier and more comfortable thanks to pain relief medication and a good quality orthopedic dog bed during those last years.
Sherpa is on Librela
As mine grow older over the years, they like to be in at night. Always in winter. And summer too. I know they need to be out more to "go", but I just get up, and bring them back in. They want more closeness, and I don't mind occasional accidents if they have an accident inside. I know they come right to the back door of a large back yard when they want to be in. They have a covered porch. And shelters outback. Older dogs need to be close as they age.
