    Thank you, thank you, thank you. After having check engine CODE P0455 Just ordered mine for my 2015 hyundai santa fe. What a pain realizing what the issue was. Changed spark plugs, cleaned the throttle body, put a new head cover gasket seal and nothing. In the process my MAP sensor went bad, and still no improvement. Until a good mechanic suggested the Charcoal canister, and boom, all symptoms match. Hopefully it fixes the shaking and the RPM fluctuations. God bless

    I have a 2000 Ford Focus that will only take $7 worth of gas at the pump to fill up, and it runs out of gas at half a tank. It runs great until I've run it about 40 miles, and then it randomly cuts off. If I let it sit beside the road a few minutes it will crank back up and keep going. I ran across a forum where someone had the same symptoms, and it ended up being the fuel vent system, although he didn't specify exactly what part, so I've been trying to figure that out in lieu of taking the car to the shop. If it's a solenoid under the hood I could easily replace that myself if it's not a pain to get to, and trying to prevent blowing money needlessly. Good info, thanks.

      there should be a small diameter line,maybe a 1/2 - 5/8 of an inch running from your filler neck to the tank..this is your vent line.it may have a kink in it or something blocking it. you can try running a piece of wire down it or about 30 pounds of compressed air

    My original problem on a 2004 Chevy Avalanche was P0446 (Purge Valve), I replaced the purge valve and the Check Engine Light came back on not too long after clearing the code from the computer. The next code I got was P0449 (Vent Valve Solenoid), I replaced the Vent Valve but I'm still getting a P0449 code after clearing the code. The only thing I can think of is that the Charcoal Canister is going bad. I'm going to replace it and see what happens.
    Side-note: I do struggle to fill the gas tank at the station, the sensor on the gas nozzle clicks off frequently. That's a sign that the charcoal canister isn't sucking out the fuel vapors from the filler neck properly. And I also get a "Tighten Gas Cap" message when I'm driving. I changed the gas cap but I'm still getting this message.

  • @BIKEMAN21
    @BIKEMAN21 Před 2 lety +3

    when you remove your gas cap the extra vacuum may be letting too much air into the engine via a faulty evap purge valve in the engine bay which would stall the engine. To check this you could start the car without the gas cap on . it will probably run fine. The evap purge valve should only let air from the gas tank enter the engine when the computer commands it to. At hot idle it shouldnt be purging i believe. Also i notice it depends how much fuel you have in the tank, if full it wont stall if you remove the gas cap

    I have a 2002 Mercedes c240. Recently I started having issues at the gas pump where it would shut off every 3 seconds of pumping. The car itself takes about 3-4 restarts to get running properly on cold starts. Surprisingly I’m not getting any codes related to the evap system. The only codes I’m getting are for multiple cylinder misfires, sometimes it’s just 1 misfire that shows. Only thing I’ve done was replace the MAF sensor but that didn’t resolve my issue. Do you have any other suggestions? Can it still possibly be just the evap canister or the vapor canister vent valve? Also would a bad purge valve that’s located at the front of the vehicle cause issues fueling up at the station? Thanks.

    • @austinalbright1854
      @austinalbright1854  Před 2 lety +1

      I would say that it's probably not evap related, it may be a coil pack or knock sensor. I have seen knock sensors do this. But, being that it's Mercedes your cheaper option may be would be to replace your coil pack. And see where that gets you. Hope this info helps.

    • @austinalbright1854
      @austinalbright1854  Před 3 lety +1

      Well, yes. That code is more than likely to be from a little gas getting into the canister. You can try and taking off the canister and sitting out in the sun for a few hours, that will allow the gas to evaporate more quickly. Sometimes this helps Sometimes it doesn't. It just depends on how much got into the gas.

Now I did notice when I bought the car the vacuum boot pressure was normally at 26psi, now ever since I've been having surging and evap codes pop up it's been sitting at 15psi at idle, after 8 months and -15° weather while owning this car, tonight I have finally 100% solved the mystery of the evap purge system, thanks for your video, you helped verify my theory!
