This day 3 Vlog is of our cruise to Alaska onboard the Norwegian Joy. In this video, we will visit Ketchikan Alaska and enjoy its beauty. We will do the full downtown Ketchikan walking tour and visit great places like Creek Street, Ketchikan Creek, Totem Poles, Shops and so much more.
This cruise set sail from Seattle and visits several ports and locations in Alaska and B.C. including Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, Victoria and the Dawes Glacier in Endicott Arm. The Norwegian Joy is part of the Norwegian's Breakaway Plus class and is a sister ship to the Norwegian Escape and Norwegian Bliss. The NCL Joy is a massive ship that is 333.46 metres in length and can hold 3883 passengers and 1700 crew. The Norwegian Joy currently has itineraries to the Mexican Riviera, Pacific Coast, Alaska, Bermuda, Panama Canal and the Caribbean. The NCL Joy has so many features including go-carts, laser tag, mini-golf, water slides, pools, hot tubs, buffets, restaurants, casino, theater and so much more. This Norwegian ship was truly amazing and a Joy to sail on.

I live in ketchikan. Just a small correction....the beams in the water at Thomas Basin are not old fallen docks. They are a dry docking grid. Boat owners position their boats over them, so when the tide goes out, the boat bottoms can be worked on.
I wondered if a lot of these places closed due to the rain virus. So many places not being shown in new Ketchikan vlogs.
@@JessiFayS maybe people are just trying to show different places. Ketchikan is very small. It's easy to see it all. To see it over and over wouldn't be interesting. We had a very dry summer last year. It was gorgeous.
I had watched so many vlogs like this one but never saw such a complete walking tour as you showed. Kudos to you.

I liked this video, but some of the things I am looking forward to enjoying on my Sept. Joy cruise: The "tram", which is actually called a FUNICULAR. The beautiful eagle carving is done by Nathan Jackson, the main carver for the Saxman native village [tour available thru your ship or onshore], which will be my one excursion in Ketchikan. Another notable place is Soho Coho, belonging to the artist Ray Troll, renowned for his "wacky fish" art. I am sooooo looking for one of his picture t-shirts. As Ketchikan is the place where so many totems are found, I am hoping to find a smallish one to take home to WA.
Hoping to see Day 4 before we leave tomorrow (10th). Lots of good info - especially where NOT to take exhausting walks in Ketchikan. :)

Thank you. Can I drive right up to baggage check? Since I am alone and have my Service Dog it could be challenging..
We parked about a block down the road and walked there as it was busy in the baggage area and not very much parking. I would suggest calling the pier and they should be able to let you know the best place for you to park and drop your luggage.
@@NorthernVikingExplorer thank you for reply I suppose I can leave my Service Dog in car while I check in my luggage and go back to get him. Can not manage both. That's why I wondered if can drive right up to drop off luggage before parking.

Just a security check in Ketchikan.

They will take them when you get back on the ship and hold on to them until you get back to your final destination.

We didn't pay for any wifi but our Google Hangout worked for the whole trip.
