The rumba strum happens to be one of the most useful, fun, and great-sounding strums you can do on any song in 4/4 time. Songs that have a Latin flair to them will work nicely with it, but you can also use it on songs that are usually played in totally different styles. As ukers, we are no strangers to making things up for fun and mashing styles and lyrics together in new ways to make ourselves and our friends smile, so let’s get started!
There are hundreds of ways to play the rumba strum, with any number of techniques, accents, and patterns, from traditional styles to jazz-fusion. This lesson is going to focus on a basic and common way to play it that can easily be added to or modified as you gain more knowledge. This is in no way a lesser “starter version” of the rhythm, though. It’s easy to pick up-as long as you are patient in the beginning-and will serve you well.
VIDEO BY CHRIS FRANCIS - Hudba
i tried to mix the flamenco rumba strum with fingerpicking on hotel caifornia, now it sounds like hotel jamaica.
You’re funny
Man, you made My day

I've always appreciated fingerpicking much more than those strummer boys out there, but NOW I am converted. It's late now, but tomorrow this will be the first thing I'll have to try. I wasn't interested at all when I clicked on the video, but you made me want to learn this! Thank you!

it looks so easy when you do it 😅 only when I tried I realised how hard it is to get the rhytm :D but I love it and I feel I can get it with practise I hope :) everything seems hard before you start practising. But I have to say, you're so good, it's mesmerising to watch how you play
And ,did you get the ritme?
Love that flamenco sound and playing. You make it seem pretty doable too though I think I'll have to keep pausing and practising to really get the hang of it.
Keep up the practice. Thanks for watching!
Please cover songs in this style! Please!
i'm struggling to get the second part well at 2:40 it looks easy when he does it, i must be so badd
Sir,
Thanks for beautiful lession.. i will try to be used to with this pattern..
My question is, what if we dont use thumb and middle finger and stright use just index finger since i m used to with index only so far.. just asking..
And I have a special request if you can teach us how to play Gratitude on ukelele played by Mr. Amir tofani on guitar.. would be great help since noone showed you how to play that on Ukelele.. plenty of videos on guitar only..
Thanks in Advance..
Hey nice video. Wanted to know which beats are you stressing more on...Because I m able to play the 8 beat pattern but it doesn't sound like the heartbeat. Can you please guide me on this?
Amazing tutorial!
nice
Очень интересно!!!!
it is not clear how many parts of strumming?
Random question, I'm looking for a first Ukelele, never played one before. Which tenor would you recommend. It's a minefield out there.
Wow so hard to get !!!!
I do the same strumming pattern but I do not get the rythm. what do i have to do? I love his video.
Fuccck! How can I be this good
Is flamenco ukulele played more commonly on the tenor or the concert size?
Will you please tell me thw chords to play hotel California in rumba flamenco
Dn Up Dn Up Slap Up Dn Up - repeat // that's the pattern
💙🌼
I tried to play it..but never got the same tone. ...can anyone suggest some tips
nice lesson. Minor nag - the room acoustics overwhelm the sound. Get the mic closer or get closer to a wall.
Can someone pls share the chord and the strum of the first thing he did at 0:00
Thank you so much! I did it! And what beautiful chord progression! I have one question though! My nails on my right hand when i strum are getting scratched and lined up like it destroys my nail. Not the big nail i strum with short nails .its just peel of the nail from the main surface .how can i avoid this ? Thank you!
Hi there! Thanks for watching. Here's an article about ukulele players' nails and what some of the pros do to keep them in shape: www.ukulelemag.com/stories/a-revealing-look-at-the-hands-of-top-ukulele-players Hope it helps!
@@Ukulelemag thank you!!
Neat video. Engagement.
Glad you liked it!
Can any one type the chords Because I didn’t know what are they
What are the chords used? Is it em , b7, am, em, c6, b7?
Which ukulele is this ?
Seems to be a KoAloha, a tenor I would guess
Its that a baritone ukelele? Thanks
It's not a baritone. It looks like a tenor or a concert size.
6:10
FIRST TIME I ACTUALLY LOVED FLAMENCO. IM ABLE TO PLAY REAL FAST BUT IM NOT GETTING THE RYTHM RIGHT. SORRY FOR CAPS
If you want the same rhythm- DO EXACTLY AS HE SAYS - USE MIDDLE FINGER AND THUMB in the first sequence.
Song name pls
You are my sunshine
Chords : Em B7 Em B7 Am Em C6 B7 Em
Is this right?
What is C6?
-----3
-----5
-----4

don't fret any strings =c6
@@yeetyeetpotatoskeet8326 ie C A E G which is an inversion of 'Am7'', same as playing all open strings
It’s the same as a B7 but move it up one fret higher….finger one on fret 3, 2 on 4, 3 on 5….
Chords: Em B7 Am and…? C6 or something?
Exactly right! See the notation here: ukulelemagazine.com/stories/ukulele-lesson-daniel-ward-flamenco-rumba-strum
whats c6????????
Did u figure it out? 😭 I'm also curious..
@@user-mk7nx7tr1p dont fret any strings = c6
@@darwinia8 thank you 😭
Rumba flamenco actually
I can t really guet the rythm. There is something with the thumb who gives more boum shake..
man, you always do 3 times, and only when you count "on camera for us" you do two times. Or at the beginning two, but then always 3 times. I watched it 10 times to understand. But overall, thank you very much. But it's confusing, because you learn to hit with your thumb after the second time, although you yourself seem to do it after the third.
get rid of the drummer bud
