Hi Eric, I feel I consider you are my teaching mentor! Have you thought of teaching news topic as a material for ESL teaching? Nowadays, the hottest news topic is wars, both in terms of Ukraine-Russia war and Israel-Palestine war. I hope we teach compassion to kids. I was thinking about using your idea of parade in this video. Help kids to draw their own parade balloon with slogan of "Stop wars". What do you think? Do you think this activity make sense for a Thanksgiving activity? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
11. (A) Put the little buggers into groups of 3 or 4, with one A4. On the board, write numbers 1-10 around a circle. WHO sit next to/opposite who (at a ROUND table): Dalai Lama, sumo wrestler, Hello Kitty, Lady Gaga(rbage), Tarzan, flower boy, YOU, Takeru Kobayashi, 007, French maid cosplay, harry potter's dominatrix, whoever is a LOCAL fad this week... (B) AFTER THAT, tell students imagine what is favorite food (type) of each person; and (C) eating style (e.g. slurpy, fussy, fast). (D) Finally, choose a couple of groups for presentation at front, explaining their funny answers.
Kev! I have a game similar to this. But first, we write all the celebrity names on the board. In groups, they have to explain who will sit next to who and why. 🤣🤣
