  • For my Presets visit: johnnathancordy.gumroad.com/ Jason Wade's Suhr Classic Antique Limited Edition Ice Blue Metallic! There were 200 of these metallic Nitro Classic Antiques made - they have some lovely aged Nitro with beautiful checking.
    More importantly, the guitar plays really well, and I think I like the slightly hotter character of the ML Neck and Middle pickups, which have plenty of sparkle to them.

      So is their prices. I mean they are great but how much does one have to pay for a bolt on, flat cut, plastic pickguard strat with import japan hardware?
      I wish they had proprietary hardware like Anderson, EBMM, and PRS since they charge equal or more than those companies for a simpler constructed guitar.

      How do the Suhrs and K-lines compare to each other?

    • @JasonWadeGuitar
      @JasonWadeGuitar Před 2 lety +2

      Hey Bill! “Strictly My Opinion”
      Suhr guitars and K Line guitars are both in that class/level of about as good as you can get for that price level.
      I truly believe once you reach a certain level of craftsmanship that it changes to which bells and whistles you’d rather have over the other.
      Both brands will retain most of their resale value
      Both are made with the highest standards and quality control in mind
      Both in the used market are relatively the same in price depending on the model you prefer.
      New Custom order K Line’s in the US are around $2700-$3000
      New Suhr’s are $2400-$3800 (depending on the model)
      Suhr are typically seen as a modern S Type guitar
      K Line’s typically lean towards the more traditional S Type.
      If you ordered a Custom Spec guitar from either brand that was exactly what you wanted to the “T”, I can’t see you being disappointed in either one you would received.
      Hope that is as clear as mud for you now? 😂
      But to be honest…it’s all subjective.
      Like the age old which battle of who’s better? Ford or Chevy
      ✌🏻👍🏻

      Stock pickups -" The ML (Mike Landau) Standard single-coil pickup is overwound for more output and sustain and features our proprietary modified staggered pole piece design to provide an even magnetic field. The SSV has a broad sonic aperture with very little compression, making for a dynamic, vintage output humbucker. "

    What are you thoughts in regards to preferring a single coil for the bridge pick-up?

    • @TCMx3
      @TCMx3 Před 2 lety

      The Suhr wiring scheme is really clever and it makes it so that when you are in position 2 the pickups see a lower value from the pots and then when you switch to the bridge you get the full 500k. Helps a lot & these guitars sound surprisingly good in the bridge + middle for a SSH guitar.

    Any idea how low the action is at the 22nd fret? I've got a 2016 Classic Antique Pro that I have set to 4/64 on all six strings, and it's great. Just wondering if I can get away with it being lower.

    • @DukeLetoIII
      @DukeLetoIII Před rokem

      @Przemek Luck of the draw I guess. Since I first asked the question above, I've lowered my action down to 3/64 for all six strings. It's handled it like a champ. No buzzing, and it plays like butter. String tension is fine. In fact the tension on my American Ultra Tele that I got in August is a little bit higher than my Suhr. Still extremely playable/comfortable, though, because of the neck and 10"-14" fretboard radius.

    How would you compare Suhr strat with Silversky? Other than the fretboard radius and the bridge pickup. Just for the joy of playing, practicality & so on. I am currently tore between Suhr Antique HSS / Silver Sky. I know I will get more use out of Suhr for my gigs, (due to the bridge pickup), and I am more familiar with the neck feel of Suhr. (I have Suhr standard HH) But that Silver Sky neck pickup felt incredible. There is also a price diffence too. (Suhr will be roughly $1000 more from the deals I'm looking at). I am originally Les Paul & Super Strat HH guy, but I've been into Sinlge coil sounds and looking for a good strat. I know both are great guitars and I can't really go wrong either ways, but your input will definately help me look at different perspective.

    • @johnnathancordy
      @johnnathancordy  Před 2 lety

      Oh really is the Silver Sky that much cheaper than the Suhr for you?
      The Silver Sky that I played (US model) was really really nice. I'd put it up there with a Suhr? The neck on the Silver Sky is I think one of its best features, but the Suhr stuff is definitely more "normal" with the radius etc. Maybe try and get your hands on a Silver Sky and see if you like it or not?

    • @roy9066
      @roy9066 Před 2 lety

      @@johnnathancordy It's 'cause I have found used silver sky that is listed locally, but the Suhr I am looking at needs to cross border (I live in Canada).
      I already did tried the Silver Sky and really liked it, (especially the neck pickup) but that radius did gave me bit hard time and I am not yet sure how much I will get use out of it in practical situations since I rely on bridge humbuckers a lot.
      Thing is I never tried Suhr HSS and its SSCii system, and it was the guitar I've been looking for some time that popped up on Reverb. I guess I feel since paying shipping + duty etc cost me bit more than what the instrument is actually worth.
      Tbh I was never a strat guy (long time Les Paul user), but recently felt needs & wants for neck singles and position 2 & 4 sounds.
      I feel the silver sky is pretty good deal but bit worried I will never get use to the neck radius and the bridge pick up.. and will look for the Suhr HSS again. Which is really hard to find a good deal accessible from where I live.
      I guess what I wanted to ask you is that how the Suhr HSS is in relation to the Silver Sky. I know it is a vague question but anything helps!
      Btw, your playing is really phenominal and you watching your videos actually inspired to try single coils more 🤣

With one builder, they usually get impatient and overlook things, plus they don't have the hours of experience with each component. I will put My team built fender custom shop against any John Cruz master built fender any day! One more thing about suhr, I have own several, but I do prefer models that are over 10 years old, when the company was smaller. When a company gets too big they stop caring, luckily fender custom shop is a small separate department still

      @@BobbyCulpepper.srv3fender not really sure what you mean then - for the price of a K Line you can't get a Fender CS or a Suhr? Not that there's anything wrong with a Fender CS or a Suhr, but they're reliably more expensive...

      @@johnnathancordy the fender custom shop reference was more about small company builders verses one guy. But in the States, a K-line sells for almost the same as a Suhr Classic

      It depends on your definition of a Stratocaster. It's just a different vision, more reliable workhorses to me. My Suhr custom made by master builder Kenny Gin has nothing to envy to any Fender master built i've tried, for a fraction of the price.
