- A father in Florida used his own young son as a human shield when he was surrounded by deputies. The shocking standoff started as a domestic dispute, and the dad was accused of kidnapping his 1-year-old child. A police chase ended at a McDonald’s drive thru window in Palm Coast. The suspect was ultimately apprehended with the help of a canine officer, and the little boy was returned safely to his mother.
The poor kid calling out for his dad breaks my heart, he just doesn’t know any better.

We don't know the whole story. It could be the mother is the one wrong for not wanting the father to see the child and this guy just did this bec that's the only way he could see the kid. I mean the mere fact the kid calls for him and knows him simply means he is not an absent father. Don't be a sheep..just bec they used the term shield that's automatically what the father did. We all watched the video and he just did not want to let go of the kid. Also the comments below making this a father vs mother (man vs woman) issue is pathetic and a projection of their own issues. Again, we don't know the whole story.

@Destiny I do not feel anything for this father. First of all the police were there because he kidnapped the baby meaning the mother or some other family member was granted custody by the court. Second, his stupidity put not only himself but his infant son in jeopardy because the officers were forced to taze him while he was still holding the baby after pleading with him several times to let the baby go.
That poor child. I’m glad I’ve changed my ways and attitude after my son was born. I could’ve never imagine putting my son through this. Feel terrible for that child

I firmly believe he wasn't using his own kid as a shield. He could have just been panicking and scared to put him down. You can see that when he's tazed he makes sure to fall on his back, even though it's at an extremely awkward angle to make sure the kid isn't hurt.

I'm surprised this isn't being pointed out more. He was being tazed enough for his legs to lock up and cause him to fall, but he still somehow forced his arm forward so he would catch himself instead of falling on the kid. Granted, an argument could be made that he didn't want to fall on his face and that's why he did that but you really don't have a choice to move your limbs once you're being tazed. Makes me think this guy is probably going through some custody non sense and is at his wit's end with it.
Idk guys he genuinely seemed confused and scared. He not only fell in a way to not hurt the baby, but it also seems like a custody battle gone wrong…And when the baby cried dada it broke my heart. I think the media is definitely criminalizing him, but, you also never know and he could have genuinely had bad intentions. Just one of those things where more information is needed than just this one sided story.

I concur. My speculative hypothesis is that the father was in a state of overwhelming cognitive panic, and simply didn't know how to react. I don't agree that he was using his child as a "human-shield." I love and respect K-9s, but this was way too excessive. That poor baby was terrified of the dog. I am glad that he is only one year of age; he won't remember much of this incident as he grows.

The cops totally handled that situation wrong! They escalated it. It went from 0 to 100. Screaming, guns drawn and they even had him up against a wall he had no where to go. Shooting the prongs when hes holding the kid and then letting the dog bite his leg is totally disgusting fascist behavior.

Worried me for a split second when they tased him as I thought he would drop the baby. Good job to the cops for handling it the best they could.

That situation was unspeakable but I'm honestly shocked the police weren't more diplomatic considering the child was terrified. That dog chewing on the dad's leg was unnecessary violent since he was already on the ground. Very disturbing.

I think the taser was way to much force knowing two prongs, one could easily got the baby, plus making the Dad fall on pavement with the baby. The dog bite was way to much. The reporter said the situation was "terrifyingly violent." But the only ones who threatened to use violence were the cops. The man was unarmed. Or did all of you bootlicking parrots miss that important fact?
Ever since they put these shots in people they have become utterly insane. That is dog abuse never have dogs atack humans held down more insanity.
Despite this media and law enforcement dramatization...the father wouldn't have harmed the kid, in the moment he panicked and acted as though he was holding the kid hostage or as a shield but he would have never harmed the kid...even as he was going down he was watching out for the kid
Some details:
1) Dad protected and saved his child when he was tasered as he was falling. He turned around and fell on his back to save him.
2) Why did the cop let the dog bite him when there were 5 cops already on top of him and he couldn't move.
Exactly that was disturbing 😳

I’d like to know what happened prior to all this. It didn’t look like the father was trying to hurt the child. So why was he reported as kidnapping his own son? Was the mother not letting him see his child? Probably more to the story other than a father “using his child as a human shield”, he knew cops wouldn’t hurt the boy and he didn’t wanna die that day. He even rolled on his back not to hurt the child.
But he did try to kill him and his son because the world was ending thats why he kidnapped the child and it led to this but I'm sure your right 👍☺️

I feel like all that intense police force was just too much since there was a baby involved. There could have been another way to go about dealing with this man, but this just wasn't it.....that baby will look back at this video someday and see this!!!! @@iamagrasshopper1920 I don't think the father ''kidnapped'' the child because the child was his after all so technically it can't be called ''kidnapping'' and it seemed like he just wanted to take the child in his custody. To me this seems like a big misunderstanding and a custody case gone wrong and nothing else. The father has no criminal record and he just seemed genuinely terrified and afraid to put his child down. Notice how he falls in an awkward way to prevent his child from being hurt? Anyways the cops were so ignorant in this situation.
