- We installed the cultured stone on this casita and had to melt this ice off the stone so it would stick to the wall. we used a weed burner torch to warm up the stones. Had to move the stone from the house to the casita because we installed the stone on the house a while back and left it there .

Lol I know, I was going to have some text right at that spot that says you always want to spill plenty of mortar on the ground haha sloppy sloppy sometimes!
Your uncle must have been a rude man 😂
Lol
Looks good as always!
Thanks Jeremy
Crazy weather in June. When will summer start up there?
Ya sure is lol
I had to laugh a bit when I saw this video. My (cultured) stone came in a month late (about par for the course at this point), and as a DIY'er, I've been freaking out a little about getting my house foundation + garage face done before winter (unpredictably, i.e. Northern Idaho) gets here. I figure when nighttime temps regularly hit below 40F, I'm probably done, because even if it's warmer during the day, the foundation temp may still be below 40F. (From what I've read, the mortar bond may fail if installed below 40F). I understand why you thawed out your stone. Do you normally work all through winter? Do you still use type-S mortar, or do your installation methods/materials change below 40F (or below 32F)? Very nice work, btw.
I usually work through the winter, I just cover everything at night and in really cold nights place heaters under the blankets, I always use type s throughout the year, I've been going to experiment more with antifreeze, the only setback I've come across so far is it deteriorates wire lathe way faster, we did an experiment wall, and tore it down recently to check it out, about 2 years the lathe was really weak. If installed over a scratch coat I don't see anything wrong with it so far, but very little experimenting though. I did notice it makes the mortar set up way faster, like an excellerator calcium type kick.
