💜 - this is how they conceptualised the song: They created a very old and sad story called, 'La Città di Smeraldo' that takes place in a small town in Italy ( in the 16th Century -1500's). The story's about an 'ugly' man who hid in an old castle alone, even though he was a gentle good person, because of his looks he received lots of hate & cruelty while growing up. He never opened his heart to anyone. Eventually if anyone tried to approach him, he hid in fear. So he became bitter and angry. His one happiness in life was to plant beautiful flowers in his walled off garden.
One night a woman appeared near the man's castle. She jumped over the garden fence and stole a flower. This angered the man at first. So he watched his garden all night. But when he fell asleep, the woman took another flower. This continued for several nights. The man pretended to be asleep and watched the woman steal a flower. He started becoming curious about the woman. He began waiting for her. Without realizing he started waiting for her to come and each day began to seem a little brighter.
Following after her one day he realized that she was selling the flowers that she stole from him to try to make a living. The man falling in love so desperately wanted to help the woman. But he was afraid she would be terrified by the way he looks if he approached her. He 'knew' she would never be able love his 'grotesque' appearance. He came to a conclusion that the only way he would be able to help her is to keep himself hidden and let her continue stealing flowers from his garden. The man decided to make a flower that doesn't exist on the planet. So that the woman could sell them at a expensive price. He began to create the flower in his castle.
After many unsuccessful attempts, the man created the most beautiful of all flowers (The Smeraldo Flower) and filled his garden with these beautiful flowers. But the woman stopped coming. No matter how long he waited she never came back to his garden. He eventually found out that the woman had starved to death before he could give her the flower that would have saved her. If only he had been brave enough to approach her😭

BTS also created a blog for this about this guy opening his flower shop on a certain date And usually they would drop an album or something bu related. The entry also changed when jin changed things, etc. Apparently, the flower jin bought was the smeraldo flower.
I screamed when I read the entry where the guy who sold the flowers saw Jin buying the flower n he could swear that he had seen him somewhere. Yas... 😅

Also this story, so many people started claiming it was an old folk tale- kinda sounds like beaty and the beast in a way. BTS came out with this story and the story line and created this mythical flower.
The fact that Jimin was sick and had difficulty in breathing and still sang like that heavenly voice 💜

RM wrote this song in reference to an Italian folklore story "La Citta di Smeraldo". You can look up the story, then you'll know what the song is about. This beautiful song is prob'ly my favorite vocal line song. So emotional.😊💜

The song is off the love yourself album trilogy three albums love yourself her love yourself tear love yourself answer. On their albums each member usually has a solo for the concert tour, but the live performance was strong the vocal line sang songs pertaining to the theme of the album trilogy the album trilogy is part of the BU Jimin sang serendipity, V sang singularity, Jungkook actually flew while he was singing euphoria, Jin sang epiphany right after he sang the vocal line sang the truth untold.
a masterpiece by RM they took a famous story and tied this together to their fame and love. this was part of their love myself albums and it´s about wearing a mask because they are unsure of themself and afraid the other person would not love them if they take of the mask. this could be about their fans like you said. but we know the members and know that jimin in particular has a hate relationship with himself. never feeling he is good enough and would practice all day without sleeping. he often doubt if he is deserving of army´s love, because fans has a way of giving them way more credit than they deserve.
so they feel like a fraud. but you could also relate to this song as a love story or your own insecurity. BTS songs always has a double meaning and leave us guessing. it´s like they give us a piece of their diary
This song is best conceptualized within the overall album concept of Love Yourself: Tear. The idea that one must love oneself if one is going to be able to love another is central. The root story here speaks to someone who wants to love someone else but cannot bloom his love as he does not love who he is. He hides behind a mask.
This idea portends BTS's discussion of the idea that people tend to use a Persona to mold how others see them. It also may relate to the idea that if our mask is actually is successful, it is easy to fall in love with that mask or Persona and to feel it is who you are. You then may come to love the mask, as in the song Fake Love. You may feel you are loving yourself by becoming overly invested in your mask when that in reality that is not self-love.
In this vein, using a fable, The Truth Untold similarly has a moral that if you are dallying on lacking true self-love there is a fair chance your attempts at truly loving another may be destined to not to materialize. In this story, time literally moved on leaving the protagonist emotionally empty.
So bottom line, I do not think this track has anything to do with BTS and ARMY

😍One of my all-time faves (and I am rapline bias). Did want to mention (and I know you recorded this already) but this video is a good example of where you are choosing to listen to a lyric video (but not read the lyrics) and then watch a performance without lyrics when you could be reading lyrics. That's why I mention, get a good video (with lyrics) either live or mv (live preferred) and then watch it through twice, catching whatever you want to catch each time around. Or just reverse your process so that we watch the live first then you do the lyrics. Just because people said listen through it once, doesn't mean you don't have to catch some lyrics or pause at all. You are so genuine and I love your reactions and I will keep watching, I just mention it because I think it could help your channel grow even more. I love that you do explanation videos too. if u asked if this song has anything to do with BU (BTS Universe), yes and no. in the BU, smeraldo flower existed in various ways and multiple times throughout their videos and universe. this song is based on a fairy tale behind the flower. but no, u dont need to know about the BU or will it spoil anything. this song just exist on its own. it just a flower exist in the BU

This song and their performance is something else.
“This song tells a heartbreaking story about an ‘ugly’ man who has locked himself into an ancient castle to hide himself from the world because he had received a lot of cruelty while growing up. Therefore, he tried to hide from people. The only thing that he confided in and loved was to plant flowers in his garden that surrounded the castle.
One day, a woman had trespassed into the garden and stolen a flower. The man was angry so he watched the garden from the castle all night. Unfortunately, when he slept the woman came again and stole another flower. Then after this happening for a few days, the man decided to fake his sleep and and watch the woman steal the flower. Without him knowing, he became more interested in the woman and began waiting for her to steal a flower every night.
This was until he followed her one day to the small town and found out that she was selling the flowers from his garden to earn her living. He wanted to help the woman so much but was afraid that she wouldn’t like him because of his ‘ugly’ appearance. So he thought the only way he could help was to keep growing the flowers in his garden for her to steal and sell on.
He decided that he wanted to create a flower that didn’t exist on the planet so that the woman could sell it for an expensive price. The Smeraldo flower.
The man tried many times to make the flower and after many tries, he finally created the Smeraldo flower and filled his garden with it. But the woman stopped coming. He waited and waited but he found out she had died. “ Yes, it is metaphor and you have interpreted it very well.

Hi can I respectfully ask you not to use this version. Jimin was ill and his throat was very sore. Army sang his verse so he was very touched and cried. The thing is haters used this against him and showed this video and said it was proof he couldn't sing live. If you don't know Jimin as beautiful and angelic as he is gets a lot of hate and even death threats so much so that Big Hit take legal action and pursue them in court for malicious comments, personal attacks and spreading misinformation. The other video where Jimin is in pink is the version that should be used. Thanks
