I've had mines for a year and a half and I don't regret buying it. During power outages it keeps my house well lit (led lights) and also my refrigerator and deep freezer. Most of us don't focus on the fancy technical words I just wanna make sure we're not in the dark, my fridge and deep freezer works, and the pump to my 180 gallon aquarium continues working. Hasn't failed me so far.

This review feels more about the specs than about the practical use. This unit has worked really well for my family and I. It gets the job done, and at about $100-$200 cheaper than the other options. Still a good review on the specs, but you’re under appreciating the lower cost and consistent performance. Still left a like, thanks for putting in the work.

@@yamaldawadad7324 Sealed lead acid batteries can only be discharged to 50% and if they are not kept charged to a certain level they will die. There were no decent reviews and not much information. The other main issue is that it doesn't have a pure sine wave inverter. Running any computer equipment on it could damage your equipment. It's probably ok if you are just charging a DC refrigerator on it. I went with a lithium LifePo battery and a pure sine inverter. So many more cycles of life. Priority 1-was running the refrigerator after dark until the sun rise about 8 Hr. 2- The need to be able to wash clothes. 3-TV , DVD, Dish, Radio and recharge Batteries. During the day. I ran a 24DVC Battery (2X12v at 100 AH) the charge controller 60 Amp was not a MPPT . 4 PV 200W connected parallel, collected 9 Hr Sun. During the Day the 2000w pure shine inverter at 120VAC charged the Duracell fore more than 12 Hours.. Turned off the Duracell UPS for 3 hr to conserve power and accelerate the morning sun charge. Did this for one long Year. When the batteries needed more time to charge all of electricity was shut down for 6 Hrs during the night.

I found this Duracell battery at Costco for $399 after returning the EcoFlow Powerstation (1800). I use the power station for my mobile office in my car. I run a Brother 5200DW printer (650 watt/1800watt when printing), laptop, and an Epson 300w. The Brother takes a lot of watts but it does the job with the Duracell. I'm a mobile notary and occasionally need to print real estate packages. I can print 4 real estate packages (130-150 pages each) consecutively before the battery dies. I'm interested to learn how the daisy chain option works. For the price I paid for the Duracell Powerstation, I'm happy with it.

Thank you for the honest review. I would agree with your assessment. However, to ensure you for all your "I's" and cross all your "T's", there is one test you need to do in order to give this a proper review. You need to test the feature that sets this unit apart; the expandable battery system. I hope you do this. And to pay for the extra batteries that you don't have on hand? Sell the broken one (as is). But before you do, open up the broken one and use the battery from it as one of your batteries in the array for your test. If the unit still fails miserably, sell it too.
I feel a lot of the issues (but by no means all of them) you encountered could be mitigated with a larger battery bank to draw from. The biggest issue is the slow charge rate when compared to the size of a fully expanded battery bank. And you would have to hack the electronics to get that to a proper level appropriate for the size of the bank.
    Edit:
I will add that, regardless of what other tests you manage to perform, the only case-use I can see for the Duracell, assuming this is a true production model and not a pre-release, is as an UPS for an office computer system that would need up to maybe 30 minutes of powered time for saving/backing-up files before a hard/manual shutdown in a grid down scenario such as a storm. That's all it is really good for. And $600 for a 30 minute UPS seems pretty steep. This is, at best, a $300 unit.

I think I have the duracell predecessor to this unit, I think mine is called powersource 1800. Anyways, what I really like about it, and wasn't really the focus of your review was that it acts similar to an uninterruptable power supply. Not fast enough or clean enough power supply for delicate electronics, but good enough for an existing AC sump pump, which has been my use case. I like that it can pass my utility's 120 VAC through it, and can pick up the load in case of an outage. I don't know if there is a similar product out there that is in this price range that can do that.

    • @jjbpenguin
      @jjbpenguin Před 3 lety +5

Thanks for your review. I just bought one of these for the same thing, a sump pump backup. Reviews on this product seem to be overlooking one of the standout features of this which is the high load that it can handle. I have looked at reviews like this where reviewers have talked highly about other smaller lighter weight options but they have something like a 300 or 400 watt peak power. Who cares what its capacity is if the peak is too low to even run the vital things that need to be run? I expect this thing to spend nearly its whole life sitting in wait for a power outage to do its thing, and with the nifty solar panel inputs, I just might invest in some panels when I find a deal on them which would set me up in the even of a longer term catastrophic outage. Sure, it might not run my refrigerator day after day after day, but if power is out for that long, there are a lot of lower draw important things that I would be prioritizing and using my chest freezer to save frozen things which uses far less power than a refrigerator in constant use. I think he did a disservice in his review of this simply because it can't keep a full size refrigerator running indefinitely. with solar panels.

Really don’t think giving honest review. AGM and SLA batteries are still very good. Just because it states 1440wh doesn’t mean run it at that, your vehicle red lines at a set rmp so telling me your going to max the RPMs and you blow the engine then say the vehicle is not worth getting. Please don’t get me wrong I enjoy your videos. For under 1k$ you could add a 100ah battery, 200w solar and mppt controller connected to the battery and have one very nice system. As for a pure sine wave needed just add one on the battery. Sorry still not convinced on lithium, way too many batteries failing from small to large, cold temps play issues and bms failure. For someone on a budget or not this unit would be much better then most solar generators and cheaper even with additional equipment. Keep up the good work, fine job fine job, my opinion the review was not fair.

Great question. The #1 best option right now is the Titan: poweredportablesolar.com/shop/ the second-best option right now is the Bluetti AC200P: amzn.to/3s5HoB2. Other than that, there are really not too many systems that will truly run a fridge for multiple days with solar panels. These two units have enough battery and enough solar input capacity to truly run a fridge for a longer power outage.

I had bought a "Goal Zero Yeti 1440" years ago, tried to use it when PGE started a power grid shutoff during a major fire in the Sierra foothills near Yosemite.

Alaska Prepper really seems to like his, but if you go look at his reviews they're not good at all really tbh. The only way I would buy one would be if they had them on sale for like say $200 maybe, and even then I would probably think very hard about making that purchase. I mean even at the Costco price of $499.99 it seems overpriced. Let alone the Amazon price of $699.

Wife bought this for a Christmas present. After it failed us in the last power outage, I scrambled and bought a champion 7500w running generator with 50amp service to run everything which ran all night on just under a tank (5.7 gal) and still had some left in the morning. I decided to get solar panels anyway since they can be used for anything and an extra marine deep cycle battery to run in parallel so we have 120ah total on the Duracell. Seeing if it can run backyard rope lights each evening for free, but yea pretty much not of any use for household stuff/sensitive electronics. Just some LED tabletop lamps or phone chargers in an outage. Can anyone tell me common devices that can/cannot be run on modified sine wave just for future use of this machine?

SLA - PWM - MSW - No USB-C - 250 cycles - Crazy heavy for the rated watt-hours. Does "for the price" mean get 2nd best on absolutely every important feature? That looks more like a one-way boat anchor. You should never discharge SLA more than about 50-60% of rated capacity. My guess is the 660 watt-hours is what they are claiming is the "usable" power capacity, with the actual battery being much larger than that. It wouldn't surprise me if it's a 1300 watt-hour battery, giving you 660 usable.

You're not going to run it continuous if you're just trying to keep your freezer items frozen. 8 on at night and 10 off during the day while it recharges.
I have one of these units I use for an off-grid garage and recharge with solar. I agree the votlage meter is silly, it should be amp hours to show capacity. The under voltage alarm is also annoying as it will trip at just under 11volts. I bought a separate inverter and just use this unit as an expensive battery for now to get past all the annoying alarms. In the winter, I will keep it plugged into an extension cord from the house when there's not enough solar energy. I ran two 100 watt panels as you did here and given enough time and a PWM controller, it will give an over voltage alarm. I swapped my contoller for an MPPT that has over-voltage control. Some ability to customize these alarms for low sun/voltage days would be nice. Overall, it's not worth the price at $700. If you can find them in the $3-400 range, it's a good buy, and Duracell does sell their B stock units for $300.

This is where this device is unique to most other systems. The Duracell can perform as a traditional UPS. While it's plugged into an AC power source, the outlets will run on AC power. Once the AC power source is lost, the Duracell kicks over to the inverter automatically within 20ms so you get uninterrupted power.
Pretty cool and worth the price for this feature, I'm not aware of any other systems that have this feature at this price point.
