Rippaverse: ISOM #2 Closing In On $1.5 Million. Eric July is back with the highly anticipated second installment. The Rippaverse has launched the campaign for the highly anticipated graphic novel ISOM #2 which is already approaching $1.5 million in presales.
The campaign follows the successful launch of the first issue which brought in over $3.7 million.
ISOM follows Avery - a Texas rancher forced to put his hero suit back on - as he navigates a world of danger and intrigue…and he isn’t alone.
“With stunning artwork by Cliff Richards, coloring by Gabe Eltaeb, lettering by Eric Weathers, and a gripping storyline by Eric July, this graphic novel is a must-read for fans of the traditional superhero genre,” offers the Rippaverse. “You’ll be hooked on the action-packed story from the first page to the last.”
ISOM #2 can be ordered through rippaverse.com and is a 112-page book with covers from Ternion (Cover A), Ethan Van Sciver (Cover B), and Shane Davis (Foil Cover C). Check out a preview below.
Eric July has also announced ISOM #2 will be made available for comic book retailers.
“On our website, we added a retailer portal that’s specifically for your local comic book shop so what they can do is go to ripperverse.com. They can go right there, they can submit us all their information, we will then send them their login and it’s easy for them to just order however many books they want,” July announced on his CZcams channel.
What is the Rippaverse?
This comic book company was not created at random. Our founder (Eric July) had been rooted in the culture of American comic books since he was a youngster and being a creative in the industry was always a dream of his. But the unfortunate state of the industry gave him the push that he needed to give it a shot. We’ve seen what works, and we’ve certainly seen what NOT to do. Rippaverse Comics is the product of a comic book guy that still believes the magic of the culture. With that being said, we are guided by a set of principles that remain the staple of this company.
‘Cyberfrog’ Creator Ethan Van Sciver Explains “The Problems With SJW Comics Today And The Reasons COMICSGATE Was Born”
Writer, artist, and creator Ethan Van Sciver’s work is never done as the mainstream comic industry gets worse and worse. But far from simply enjoying the decline, he and several others rolled up their sleeves and developed thriving alternatives with their own books and imprints. By doing this, they also engendered a movement known as ComicsGate that’s become a boogeyman for the mainstream.
None of this happened in a vacuum, naturally, and Van Sciver detailed with bullet points in a Twitter thread why talent had to pivot in the face of the diminishing quality of the Big Two and the opprobrium of their gatekeepers. He tagged a few comrades as well - Eric July, Shane Davis, Jon Malin, Jon Del Arroz, and Michael Bancroft.
In his “The problems with SJW comics today, and the reasons [COMICS GATE] was born,” thread, Van Sciver began by issuing his top gripe with the art form as it stands - “Terrible [post-modernist] writing focused on afflicting the ‘comfortable’ and alleviating the ‘oppressed.’”
He started to rattle off his pointed criticisms two and three at a time and they dovetail neatly together as much as they do with the first two complaints. Van Sciver added that his next two problems were a “New insurgence of moral relativism, nihilism and cynicism,” and “Strong racial animus towards heterosexual white males.”
Going further down his list, he grouped more of the three most common complaints with books dipping in quality. These phenomena which follow from bad writing and illustrating are “Defilement of iconic comic book moments… Denigration, humiliation, and termination of legacy heroes,” and “Cheap, ugly surrealist artwork,” which he often compares to content sent out on Tumblr.
After he railed against the quota “employment of artists and writers with a progressive political bias, or multiple ‘diversity’ qualifiers,” and “Open antagonism towards older readers,” examples of dreck from a recent Batgirl issue and Aubrey Sitterson’s run on GI Joe for IDW were plastered in the thread via replies along with the rah-rah approval of EVS and ComicsGate’s supporters.
Though both the man and the movement have their followers, the rifts between CG and the mainstream of the industry might never be mended. Fortunately, the same isn’t true of divisions within the community. Recall that EVS tagged Jon Del Arroz in his thread, the author of Cyberfrog parody Robotoad: Rekt Manlet. It seems they smoothed things over. “Repentance and forgiveness…hand in hand” indeed.
What do you make of Ethan Van Sciver’s analysis of the problems with SJW comics coming out of Marvel and DC? - Zábava
Find the crowdfund for my graphic novel at thelucentcomic.com
I’m pretty damn far from a lefty, but your arguments make little to no sense. The success of your book doesn’t hinge on identity politics…yet you cite two people of a specific political leaning whose crowdfunding success had nothing to do with the substance of their content but rather the nature of their audience.
This actually how rap music became famous. Rappers made their own tapes and records and sold them individually out the trunks of their cars. Initially, they received little to no airplay on the radio. As they became more popular radio started playing their songs. Record labels showed up. Producers showed up. Eventually, rap went mainstream.
I hopefully Eric and you can make the new mainstream.
Yeah lucent
As long as the stories and characters are worth it. July's work hasn't convinced me his work is better. Yet.
Along with Raging Golden Eagle with his Blade Devil Comic💙💚♥️🖤😎
This is true. But real rap was about social justice and civil rights. Today’s rap has been infiltrated by different messaging.

Chasing " Phantom Audience ". I'm gonna steal that line from ya. It explains it so well.
Go for it! I'm sure I stole it from somewhere myself!
@@Michael_Bancroftbut what does “phantom audiences” mean?
What does it mean tho?
@@gameframeinc.3389 An audience that doesn't exist, like girls reading comics or playing first person shooters en masse.
@@Michael_Bancroft like sjws or the old audience back in the 70s 80s and 90s?
Nice to see Exiled highlighted.
My personal favorite comics have been the spawn comics for a few years, independent comics tend to do a lot better
If there's anything that's going to come out in comics that's going to turn heads for the right reasons, I look to the Indies.
“Chasing Phantom Audiences” Now that’s a proper way to tag it.
I mean hey if struggling artists and story creators can finally have not only their deserved recognition and payment I'm all for it, comic book companies and the like never treat their people well so I'm happy these people can finally have a good chance
By doing it yourself and selling directly to customers, you can cut out all the middle men that eat at the profits. You may sell less books overall, but you can actually make some money.
The sjw+feminist+LGBTQ+diversity comics by marvel and DC comics is dying 👈👈🤣
Answer is the lucent tada
😮😮😮
From best marvel and DC studios to wasted money studios movies 👈👈🤣
It's not like cg is doing any better. They can't even put out a book on time Marvel and dc won.
@@WGPhil-uw5csMarvel and DC don't pay their own workers. Nobody wants marxist propaganda. Anyone reading that is gay. Literally. If you are straight you want real comics. Eric July is living his dream. As a libertarian I like his views on free market. If you can't survive in the free market you should accept that you probably needed to stay at your day job. But if you get your audience and they love you then it shows that you meet a demand that actually exists out there. Manga sales are destroying western comic book sales apart from the major characters like spiderman and batman. This is something you SJW cannot argue. The pushback is coming. Once the orange man get back in power again you will see a rise in patriotism and desire for more masculine heroes and the marvel and dc labels will go the way of Atari did back in the early days of videogame industry. The problem of Atari? NO QUALITY CONTROL! Nintendo swept in and took over from them. Today you see a similar pattern in comic industry: Marvel and DC are atari, and japanese companies making manga have eaten Marvel and DC's lunch, just like Nintendo sweeping in after Atari collapsed.
Im glad to find this vid. Gives me hope as im writing my fantasy comic book series with 3 major story arcs planned. I made a gofundme already but will soon move on to kickstarter as its a more proper platform. The comic is called bastions of alamunt. It started as a dnd style story before i took on TY Templetons mentorship which led to me restarting the story again properly. Im gathering more art for it now since the first few issues are written. Also applying to OAC for a grant so i can pay the artists a better. Ill stop rambling now but if you want to hear more id be happy to ramble more.
If you have a dream, do whatever you can to bring it to life! If I can do it, anyone can.

I hear the Lucent is pretty cool, but the creator is kind of shy and reserved. 😂
But he has a great voce for shorts!
@@Michael_BancroftLike audio butter.
Dude...Everything you've just shown in the video looks phenomenal! I gotta hit up my comic shops!
Very true. It is a strong opportunity with a plethora of tools, even free tools that are stabilizing and growing in a positive and consistent movement. Time, production, and exposure has given way to offering new talent, skill creation across the board. Near limitless. Massive, dedicated markets are already showing this. And, it works!
That's right, it's never been more accessible for almost anyone to make and distribute a book. I'm so happy to be a part of what's going on in the scene right now.
@@Michael_Bancroft I have a gut feeling this is going to become the norm for this industry and may even become something far more in the future.
I got the last book and it was dope.
Thank you so much! 🙏

I can't afford any of these comics but they are my favorites I follow all of these people on CZcams I've been doing so for years if you can't afford to get their books do it it is worth it not only will you be thoroughly entertained but the books themselves selves will do nothing but appreciate in value
I'm grateful for your support in whichever form it comes!

Okay hear me out marvel and dc, since nowadays we have easily accessible news unlike the 80s we dont have to put politics in comics and maybe dc and marvel should try to pease the actual fans and not the people who wouldnt even know a single character from your comcis without the mcu
BOOM
Boom Sir
brother can you please post a video for independent comic books recommendation??
If this video gets a good response, I'll definitely start putting out some recommends!
Hail bankroft
Seconded!
Indie is massive most people just don't know it's there
That is why Manga is dominating: they have merchandise, tv and movies, and overall a lot of prescence in the videogame scene. That is going to be the future of western comics imo. It's ironic that My Hero Academia is popular manga and at the same time a homage to american comic book super heroes. As long as you indie comic creators can match the work ethic of the pros and the manga artists then I see no reason why comics should fail. You just got to promote your work on socialk media so your fans can find and contact you if they don't know your website.
I’ll have to check this out later. I wouldn’t say I’m getting into comics but I will say I bought Isom 1, preordered Isom 2 and kinda excited to see where the Rippaverse goes. Maybe I’ll add The Lucent to my new potential hobby/collection.

God bless the internet. We don't need intermediates anymore. You don't need to spend thousands on paid promotions, be limited to producers' formulas, follow editor's guidelines, or even subject your opinion to some corporate crap. Its the artists and authors going straight to the audience.

As still somewhat of an amateur artist I see a new comic not affiliated with anything other than the great work of Pete great people who inspired him as an absolute win
Everybody’s starting their own comics including fans, gotta start mine soon because I’m still designing characters first but I still need to design worlds and write stories. Any advice on starting my own universe?

Yooo Shad's comic is here!!!!
Can you list the comics you used covers of in the intro? Cant find the third one. Never heard of Groken, but that art is awesome, reminds of the great Joe Mad, will def back it next time around. I’ll check your stuff out too!
Groken is by Kenneth Rocafort. The story he's writing is very mysterious and a little hard to follow at times, but the art is some of the best I've seen in a comic probably ever. It's mind-blowing.
So the comics as they appear in the short are:
Groken - Kenneth Rocafort
Inglorious Rex - Shane Davis
Shadow of the Conqueror - Shad M Brook / Mike Millar
Godlike - Jon Malin (still waiting to be fulfilled)
Fiendish - Irene Strychalski
Ghost of the Badlands - Razorfist
Ghosts of Matecumbe Key - Graham Nolan
Exiled - Wesley Snipes / Adam Lawson
Wraith of God - Aaron Lopresti
Cyberfrog - Ethan van Sciver
Isom - Eric July
The Lucent - Me!
Can't wait to get 2nd book. Gonna get hardcover this week I loved first story, keep it going mb
I was a fan of marvel and dc for years but it’s obvious they don’t want my money, they found a new “audience” and bent over backwards to cater comics just for them, I’m a happy customer of Eric and I’ve gotten into manga, in the new year I will definitely look into your comics as it would be nice to support a fellow Aussie ✌️
Great to hear! I have no doubt that the next great stories of this century will come from the indie scene.
Best of luck to ya..!! I'll chk out your site.

Mainstream still have some decent stuff, anything capullo does, Sean Gordon Murphy’s Batman was good, even Tom kings Batman detective was a good comic, I keep my options open, def love a few of the indie books especially the ones you showed in the video, Eric’s stuff isn’t great, will be interesting to see if he can turn it around and produce something great, hopefully he can, everyone deserves success, there’s a certain amount of sales CZcamsrs get just because of built in fan bases, look at moistcritikals godslap, that comic looks mid and it’s not even coloured but he has made bank on it, Ed pisskor and Jim rugg are killing it with mediocre books, the big CZcams followings def ad a lot to sales, best comic I have read lately was copra, it’s so different it’s a breath of fresh air, it’s a weird industry, sales are down compared to the 90s and early 2000s but there’s plenty of options for good comics out there.

Well yeah; but, another good set of examples would be that Dead Pool parody comic book called snd “Wan Pool” where he’s a streamer apparently as part of his normal life.. Unfortunately, being the indies, there's no one place you can buy all of these books. Maybe one day that will happen, but in the meantime, all I can do is give you the names of the books I showed and who made them, so that you can follow these creators and find their books (which are usually sold through their own websites or on sites like Indiegogo)
