I'm 17 and I've been living with deppresion for 5 years and when I first heard this song I couldn't stop crying because I really had no one I could talk to and the song id literlly the only one that said nice things to me, so I keeped listening to this song in every day for a long while.
And now I'm here again and I'm so happy to hear it again. Today I'm finelly in a place that I feel much better in and I have someone who really cares about me.
So I have to say, it really is my victory song.

I gotta admit the first time I heard the song I was like 'meh'. Suddenly I noticed myself just casually humming the melody while taking my daily walk to the office. Then I realized the song was pretty uplifting and makes me look forward to spend my day at work despite the many frustrations I have with the people and environment there. I now play this song to start my day along with 'All ends well' from the Fortress album.

I couldn't disagree more with the "heaviest ever", judging from the two songs we've heard so far. We'll see when the entire album drops.

The Last Hero isn't as heavy as Blackbird or Fortress. Although I like it, I think it's probably their worst album to date. The emotion and catchiness isn't as great, plus there's some lyrically content that seems sub-par for what I know they are capable of.

My dream is to see these guys live. I lost my best friend of 30 years recently and coupled with depression, I cry every day and every day is a struggle, but their music helps. My buddy played guitar and I can hear him playing along.

To all you people saying that you're "disappointed in the album" or think the guys have "lost their touch". Can you not wait until you've heard the entire album until you make such rash assumptions? I mean, you've heard 2 songs out of 13/14. Also, why have none of you realised that this is a track made for radio. You know? To get the song/album into the ears of more new listeners? Something that has become a necessity for a band to keep making music?
Plus the album is over 65 Minutes long, so people saying this album will be a did after hearing only 8 minutes or so of it are seriously impatient.

That's crazy about that comment about the listening party!! I thought fortress was pretty damn heavy and amazing, so to think this one is heavier is just blowing my mind and we have only heard two songs so far. I'm so excited. I have loved every single album they have put out and I usually listen to the new albums exclusively for months on end so this is very exciting. I'll follow this band forever. First of all, all these excuses make you look a bit desperate. I don't recall Blackbird having any "radio friendly" songs similar to these two. Just saying.
Second, I have yet to see a single person bash the entire record. I have however seen plenty of people being critical of the two songs we've heard, which I can understand. "Show Me A Leader" didn't appeal to me at all, but this one is pretty good I think.

This song got me through a brutal break up. I was about to go back to the bottle, skip work, and just sit in my apartment wasting my life away like a pathetic drunk like my old man and my mother. It's kind of surprising how a single song can lift you up and motivate you. This song, this band has changed my life through their thoughtful, meaningful messages in their music. I can't think of a better fight song for me other than Be Yourself by Soundgarden.

Going to reunite with an old friend some time this week. Working 70 hours a week and building myseld back up from the dirt has been fun, but imagine doing it with a gem like this and your brother.
These comments are hilarious. As much as I love the darker side of Alter Bridge, I like this lighter, more straight-forward, and uplifting AB too. I don't think song is cheesy at all, and the solo rocks. Plus, you need a more radio friendly single to be played on the radio. The positive and uplifting lyrics is what I love about the band. You can judge an album by one or two songs. I think this song is stronger than Show Me A Leader, which I love, but this appeals to me more. Let's judge the album once it comes out. I love everything they do. Real fans stick around through it all. AB forever!
I liked the song when I first heard it but i did think it was a bit cheesy, but the more i listen to it the more i get into it and am overly excited to hear the rest of the album regardless of what direction they've taken. I've loved everything from one day remains through to this song so unless it's the band's first "meh" album (which i highly doubt) then I'm gonna love this album too!! :D

I'm just amused,reading some of the comments here.These people must be new to AB,otherwise they would know that a).the positive/uplifting lyrics are kind of a trademark of AB(''Ghosts of Days Gone'',''Life must go on'',''All ends Well'', freaking ''Rise Today'' ),even the more dark songs have always some positive lyrics on it and b).usually the singles are the more simpler,''radiofriendly'' songs of the albums.First single of ''Fortress'' was ''Addicted to Pain'' who's the most straightforward rocksong on that album,for example.

once again some badass guitar and melodic lyrics that's not just a bunch of bullshit....this bands commradery is unmistakably.....Myles Kennedy is one of the greatest vocalist/gutar player of all time....saw a concert at a small venue in Destin Florida at Club LA....they did not disappoint...one of the tightest live bands you'll ever see....the 1000 capacity crowd atmosphere blew me away....just AWESOME... looking forward to seeing this new tour!

I'm impressed with the song's lead guitar and Myles' synergy with the music. The message might be cliché, but sometimes we have to remind ourselves of the most basic principles once in a while, as we lose our way or think of straying off the path. Whatever your quest or desires in life are, you must not ever give up in your pursuit. You only have one life, so you may as well give it your 100%...better to have tried and failed, than to never have tried at all!
In 2008 and 2009, I went through a cancer battle and you helped me break the Ties that Bind by motivating me to escape and start anew. In 2017, I lost my dad and we didn't get along, and Watch Over You helped me process it. Now, in 2023 I am at an impasse of what to do with my life with a job that might be gone soon, a mortgage that will be gone if I don't keep the job, and in another fight with depression. Thank you for believing in me, I have friends that do but it helps to know that you believe in your fans, even if you don't know us. So thank you, you're My Champion.

Brians throwing down some pretty sick bass lines in this song. Song is nice to hear something uplifting, the music really bolsters the feel of Myles lyrics. Great song.
Brian is ALWAYS throwing out some amazing bass lines. He is the most underrated bassist I know of. He is sooooo good.

Unfortunately both Brian and Scott (drummer) are massively overshadowed by Tremonti and Myles, but both Brian and Scott (drummer) are just fantastic as well. Shame they don't get more love, but it's a shame Alter Bridge doesn't get more love also.
@@maximusaralieous1728 You are absolutely correct on all accounts. Brian and Flip are incredible, but Mark and Myles are so good up front that it is hard for them to shine. But true Alter Bridge fans know how good they are, and without them, there is no Alter Bridge. To me, Brian is right up there with my other favorite bassist, Geddy Lee.

I get it, As a weak individual who attempted suicide a couple of times last year I can relate to it, Those words have so much meaning! One of the best you have produced... I think the moral is..
