    Thanks for giving so much time to the barrel forging demo. I’m one of the guys helping with the demo and it’s nice to see people appreciate it.

    Not a dying art. There are more great quality makers of flintlocks now than there were in the 18th century.

    Very interesting... amazing seeing how they were made many years ago!

      Rendezvous yeah I'm a sucker for the old guns. There was a lot of work involved in making these guns. Very skilled tradesmen indeed. Some of the rifles I seen for sale went from $10000 to $20000. Quite an investment for a single shot rifle. Thanks for watching.

    when you show the canon when he was raming some threw the touch hole it was to make a hole in the bag of powder so the fuse would go down in it if i aint mistaken

    This is awesome. The barrel making part and how they did the rifling answered some questions I had. I love muzzloaders and use flintlock rifles to hunt so this was fun to see.

    I made a flint lock rifle back in 1970-72 very hard to do.

    The rifles are just beautiful,along with the powder horns,and everything else.It is such ashame that this art is dyeing out.Thank you for posting. Was anyone making Black Powder ?? It's amazing how they made these works of art.

    • @huntnfishnuts5880

      There’s a lot of man hours in one of these guns. The price reflects that but you have a one-off custom rifle. I would think you need permits from the ATF to make black powder as it’s classed as an explosive, that’s why you can only buy it from places that are licensed to sell it. Pyrodex and triple seven are not classed the same that’s why you can buy it from Walmart.

      @danogle9927 Před 5 lety +1

      No sir the feds.don't require a permit,if your making for yourself,as long as your not selling it or giving it away.you can have up to 50 pounds at your house.and its simple to make. But thank you for your reply

    Strange how I have not read any detailed and specific safety warnings on the inherent safety issues and danger of not carefully swabbing down the barrel and extinguishing any embers leftover from previous firings thereby igniting the powder charge as it is rammed home and turning a ramrod into a projectile harming the loader and then anyone else in the ramrods path.
    Please make this a sticky and a warning or PSA.
    Please feel free to edit this comment as needed.
    Thanks.

    Damn.....I love this sort of stuff.
    Where I live, in Western Australia, even a fair for old, black powder muzzle loaders like this would be illegal.
    Do you think I could claim asylum in America on the basis that my basic human right to buy and shoot classic ol' muzzleloaders is severely regulated?

    • @huntnfishnuts5880
      @huntnfishnuts5880  Před rokem +1

      It’s always worth a try, I know all about restrictive firearms laws, I was born in Ireland where the firearms laws are just as restricted, the only way I had seen a muzzleloading rifle before I moved to the USA was in a museum. Thanks for commenting.
