On the Garrett ATP instructional videos, they showed using IA as a tool to help ID a target as potential iron based. Thereby prompting the detectorist to pass it by. The example they used was a bottle cap. Which rang up like a coin with IA turned OFF. Turning IA ON before digging the target, revealed it gave the classic low grunt associated with a target that was made of at least some iron.
Nice video Keith - I've had my AT Pro a little over a year but until recently only used it in water. But I took it out for a spin last Friday and was quite impressed how it did on dry land. How do you like the smaller coil compared to the stock coil? Does it give up much depth? Worth the money?
Good demonstration, I use the iron audio all the time, afraid I'm missing targets with it off as you just showed. Especially if the nail is above or on top of the coin, the dime and nickel would not sound off so well without iron audio on if the nails were directly above them. Good tip, thanks for sharing!
+Bootyhunter1 I have a park that is beside my house im cleaning it out been working in it for about 9 months, I keep sensitivity, all the way up and try to go after a rainfall the metaldetector seems to pick things up deeper when the grounds wet, so far I could fill a garbage bag full of trash, but its worth it now the park is getting quieter and im starting to find nothing but good targets, spend some time dig them all up don't discriminate
I have run with it on in order to gauge the density of iron in the area, but find it distracting over the long haul. What I do now, is leave it off, but when I get a scratchy or slightly less than banging signal, I'll flip it on to listen for iron components to the target. I think that's the intent on Garretts part. An on-demand tool to clarify a target that's not solid.
I am band new. I cant figure out about the GOLD piece you used. When I listen to your unit go over the GOLD, As I watch and listen to this Video I would be passing over GOLD and missing it because I can not tell the difference between the Nails and the Gold. It's an informative video!! But can you help me out more?
nice thnx man, sad story yesterday I found a rare uncirculated british penny 1902, worth some good coin, but my shovel dented it in the corner the ground was hard so I dug in viciously, so sad :(
I am not an expert with my AT-Pro, but your gold coin on edge, in the crack, may have given you the response you wanted by changing the direction from which you swing the coil, wouldn't it?? The 53 on the VDI scale may have hit 53 given the direction of your approach to it. Correct me if I am wrong. I've only been out once since buying a detector...
based off of the return signal on the gold coin (showing 33-34) , i can tell you i would 100% not dig that today..i think you just about have to commit to dig everything to get the good stuff
Hello, I yesterday bought an: at pro international, i want so search for silver and gold coins. Can anybody help me with wich settings i have to use. Thx

Good to know this.
Thanks Kieth. I've had mine for 5 years and have ignored iron audio up til now. Your vid is helping me come to grips with it.
Great tip Sir! I ordered mine today and now I know I will definitely be running that Iron audio on! Thanks much!
My detector comes in the mail tomorrow. Thanks for the well done tutorial. I hope I find a gold piece on my deck!!
Thank you for the tip great to hear from others on how they set their machines....
It is good to hear your opinion about the Iron Audio feature.
nice one bro.tried you settings and found one of the queens best right in between a load of iron.
thanx keirth I learned alot from this vvideo
Thank you! I got mine for Christmas. Found a ring last month,

My thoughts exactly. This is especially true when beach hunting the wet sand. If it's always turned on, you'll be falsing constantly.
100%

What is the overall better and deeper detector... Minelab 705 or the garrett ATP as you own both... ??

I wish my AT Pro sounded that smooth. In Pro Mode with any sort of adjustments to iron, signals are scratchy and double-sounding. It's really odd.

Isn't this the same as running the machine in zero mode?

Ehh, garret detectors belong in the garbage.
