Mortimer wheeler wife Tessa is buried in stStephens an old Saxon church ( 10th c) close to where I live , they used some old Roman tiles to mark her grave, very apt , because she was actually in charge of the majority of excavations at verulamium.

Apparently he used to go off with pretty young volunteers to look at areas around StAlbans and leave his wife Tessa to excavate verulamium.
