Another great insight. The amount of work required in inconceivable for anyone who has never done it. You both are doing such fantastic work for yourselves and the best ever insight for your viewers.
Not only showing the work involved but the techniques, tools and suppliers. By the time you have this future home completed you would have created the best ever manual/guide for restoring yachts available!
    Great work as always.
On a side note: I can't believe only 1200+ subscribers! Come on guys, if you're enjoying these videos it costs nothing to show some support by subscribing and clicking the like button.
I believe this channel will become THE best and the most genuinely helpful yachting/cruising channel in CZcams's history.
Look at the effort these two are putting in now, in freezing conditions, with hard monotonous jobs one after the other. Detailing them all for us with no upside. No sailing on tropical waters, no beautiful views etc, just more dust, more expense, more work and still they do such a great job relaying what they have learned in these videos.
How much more valuable info will they provide when their cruising starts??? I believe in years to come they will create what will become the go to cruising guide which all cruisers will simply call the yachties bible!
So do them a small favor and show some support at these early stages so you can share in the pride later on.

For sanding the decks seams I've taken a wooden paint stick. and a section of sandpaper, and wrapped the paper around the stick tightly. The stick edge is square as is the deck seam, and often the same width. For best results tear the paper into 2" stripes and hold the sides tightly as you sand. I've been able to clean out the seams quickly using 120/150 grit paper. As you go you move the paper 1/4" in one direction, as it wears. When you run out of paper in that direction, flip it over and use the fresh side. Leaves a nice clean square channel ready for filling.

I just love your channel! You guys are doing a wonderful job! It’s so much work, but you will know every square inch of your yacht and love her that much more!
Thanks so much for sharing your journey building your home on the water!

I seen a video of a old sailor who built him and his now passed on wife a beautiful sailboat. He used a hydraulic brake setup off a bicycle or small motorcycle to keep the prop from turning when sailing. You simply squeezed the brake lever and i believe he kept it held shut with a rubber band

Sounds genius ! I bet it was at a fraction of the cost of that marine shaft brake.

I really appreciate your sense of humor, you’re quite funny! The keel is looking very nice, like nothing has happened. The expanding foam is just about perfect and that’s a wonderful idea to put the batteries lower, it’s going to be so much better for the space. The teak deck project also is coming along, very nice work you two! Thanks so much for your episode.

Powodzenia!

Not an expert on folding props or the maintenance of the "moving parts". Metal wise it still looks solid and good to go for years. I wouldn't be too fuzzed about it. Just make sure that it doesn't come off when you hit reverse;) And don't fortget the anode on the shaft or by the prop nut depending of the design

    • @sailingsqualo
      @sailingsqualo  Před rokem

We did an initial test, by tapping it lightly with metal object. Dull thud would indicate corrosion. But it sounds like a bell!! 🙌 yes, anode we can order from the manufacturer of those props. The previous one was almost gone when we hauled Squalo out.

I wish the Bora Bora part and finished boat were true 😉 no, we haven’t ditched YT or anyone that’s following us here 😅 but sadly we are experiencing delay. We have to work a little more than usual to be able to fund the project and spend all the money we earn now on Squalo later. We are gutted we haven’t been in a boatyard for a while, but it is what it is. We will be back soon! 😊
So nice to hear we weren’t forgotten here 🙌
