      Remember that many of these folks don't have running water or power. Sometimes it is easier to be closer to water at least. The blame here lies with government (whatever that is right now). Haven't they promised people safe and affordable housing? Where is government for these people now? Why does only a non profit have to help them?

    • @Sihawukelwe
      @Sihawukelwe Před měsícem +6

      However, the government told them that the terrain was not conducive to building housing. They went on because of Malema, who told them that they must take land without compensation. I can assure you that they build their houses in wetlands. Do you blame the government for their ignorance?

    Those places aren't environments for building informal homes. Infrastructure is important. They should never have built there. Sorry not sorry. You can't make poor choices and then expect others to help you when it inevitably fails. People have been warning about these informal settlements for decades and every year it's the same thing. Insanity. Literally.

  • @askrugel3434
    @askrugel3434 Před měsícem +8

    I really feel sorry for these people and the conditions they live in. - I see there are now complaints about the DA!!! As if they themselves let these people live in houses which are informal housing and which they came to erect themselves. Now I'm not completely stupid, but as far as I understand, a house plan and plot must first be approved by the municipality. After it is built to specifications, you pay local taxes to that municipal area where you live and only then are you entitled to the services and assistance offered.....
    The solution for these people will be to move as soon as possible to Gauteng or another province, where the ruling party is the ANC and will take care of them. Surely it cannot be that difficult to move these types of houses to another place ,,,,,. There isn't even a foundation...
