  • Top 10 small cities in Germany
Germany is so full of amazing places to see and most of the time you hear of the big cities and tourist spots like Munich or Berlin, but then you see all these pictures of these awesome small places that look so cool and you wonder where they are. Well, I’ve broken down my top 10 smaller cities within Germany that kind of give you the best of both worlds. A little bit of modernization mixed with some German flare will, I think, provide you with a great list to help you with that travel itinerary.
I was going for more of the mid-range to small cities in this one and focused a lot on the old towns and great architecture so hopefully you see why some of these cities made my list. I feel when traveling it’s nice to have that small town feel a lot of the time, but it’s also nice to explore some of the bigger and newer sides to some of these cities. This makes for a fuller experience of what these countries currently have to offer.
Please enjoy the video and check out some more of my other top 10 lists from the links below. Thanks for watching!

So five of these cities are among Germany’s fourteen largest, all of which are considered Großstädte by German standards, the smallest of these is Nürnberg with a population of more than half a million people. Some small city recommendations from me: Prien am Chiemsee, Passau, Lindau, Regensburg, Ochsenfurt, Sommerhausen, Miltenberg, Aschaffenburg, Meißen, Quedlinburg, Wernigerode.

I apreciate, that you at least also traveled to the north. Most others just name the same cities in the south as allways. But the north and east has much more to offer. Try Greifswald, Rheinsberg, Lübbenau, Oranienburg, Schwerin, Potsdam, Lüneburg, Binz, Wismar, Stade or Friedrichstadt. Just to name some of them 😉

Trier is my favorite small city, and saarburg is a town that's only 30 minutes train ride away from trier, and that's my favorite town in germany.

Informative video - BUT - please reduce the base in the Voice Over while reducing the background music. Between the two it makes it a muddy confusing conglomeration which is difficult to discern and listen to. When we choose YOUR video, we want to actually HEAR and UNDERSTAND t he information and NOT be entertained. We go to loud pubs and discotechs to be inundated with loud surroundings which are confusing and give us a headache. Please, not here.

    Addition to my comment
This is not to say that a visit to these cities is not recommended. On the contrary. With their history and wealth of magnificent buildings, these cities show that Germany is more than just romantic medieval castles and half-timbered houses.

You did not visit any of those cities/towns, did you? I think you or whoever in your company has not been in Europe at all. None of the video footage was taken by you.

I think you're right. Two Cities are small the Rest are not so small. Cities with 100000 People are big Cities.

How disappointing. . . Except for one, which i had never heard of. NONE of these cities are small. How about: Kassel, Goettingen, Schleswig, Bonn, and so on. . . Go away and tour Germany!

Just so you know, two of the towns mentioned here have a population of around 10,000 people, another one a population of around 15,000. Definitely small.
At least 4 of the towns mentioned had a smaller population than Kassel and Schleswig with it's population of 2.8 million is well over 5 times the size of the largest mentioned in this video
