A rhythmic pure dance based on EKTALI and Raga SHANKARAVARANAM. Choreographed by Guru Kelucharan Mahapatra. For information about the dancer visit www.nandinighosal.com
Bharatnatyam is more fiery (which makes sense, since it is connected with the element of fire), while Odissi is more connected with the flowing movements of water. Other classical dances include Kuchipudi (connected with the element of earth), Mohiniyattam (connected to the element of air) and Kathakali, which is connected with the sky. If you watch them all, you can see the difference in the style and movements. Hope that was helpful!
Bharatanatyam goes on...and on...and on...if you watch the performances its like a marathon because the story is typically so long. Odissi is much more nice to watch, and is also more feminine.
Nandita Ghosal is not just only a brilliant classical dancer she is a great actress also who played a vital role in national award winning movie 'kichu sanglap kichu prolap'.
I myself is also an odissi dancer and I am obsessed with this songs as well as this composition … she has wonderfully performed this dance …. The torso movements, neck movements, eye movements, padobheds are very prominent in her dance…
Every time I see you dance, I feel like getting up and dancing! I just can't stop myself.......this is such a beautiful pallavi and you are such an amazing dancer!
Keep up your dancing...you are the people who have taken a pride in our culture and kept it alive. I wish you the best of luck and hope that you give the coming generations this rich treasure.
Esta misma danza la vi en Cuba hace alrededor de 20 años quizás más. Fue como un hechizo que envolvió al teatro Sunyol de la ciudad de Holguín. No he podido olvidar aquel ambiente lleno de misticismo.
I agree with the other person. Each classical dance form has it's own grace, even Bharatanatyam. I learn both Bharatanatyam and Kathak, but I love watching Odissi. She gave a wonderful performance!
I think ur eye movements are very unique and lovely! Must be because of your acting experience.......I love the way you dance! You are my odissi idol! Really and truly.....I love everything about this video- the song, the colour of the dress, your fluid movements, grace, expressions and most of all..............................YOU!!!!
Hi brother. I'm quite glad that you enjoyed our Indian classical dance. You can see Hamsadhwani Pallavi by Nataraja Dance Group & Sattriya dance by Krishnakshi. They're quite engaging too. You would enjoy them. Love from India.❤🇮🇳❤
I agree with both the comments done. I have watched you 4 times and still lured toward you ! You're so graceful and beautiful and everything, no words! Blessed be oddisi, Blessed be you and blessed be India and its culture!
It does not matter how long this was taken. Time is not the factor where tradition is kept. Simply awesome!! Indian culture is awesome, beautiful, graceful and we must keep it so....always!!!!
omg!!this smile!!!!these women are so beautiful.its like they are from heaven!!!my stomach feels like iam in love.thats freakin strange.they deliver an enrgy...i cant tell.it feels good.and this music...holy krishna!!!if aliens exist, they should see this.
Nandini ma'am ka dance dekh dekķ ke main thora bahut odissi Sikh gsi hun. Itna khubsurat dance aur itni talented graceful dancer. No words to say. Jsbhi dance Dekhti hun yes dance nina dekhe nahi rrh sskti.
Nandini I love your dance your legs are so strong and also your expression your lips are so smiley perfect chauk and Tribhanga so graceful all loves your dance keep it up
You are a beautiful dancer Nandini! Abhinaya is reminiscent of a Bharatnatyam Nayika, but somehow you manage to balance the poetic grace of odissi with the eye movements of bharatnatyam. After a long time I have seen such 'bhavas'.
Odissi is the most graceful dance compared to the famous dance traditions of bharatanatyam, kathak, mohiniattam and kuchipudi. ...what do u have to say?
I myself is also an odissi dancer and I am obsessed with this songs as well as this composition … she has wonderfully performed this dance …. The torso movements, neck movements, eye movements, padobheds are very prominent in her dance…
Like the rest of that amazing culture: beautiful. Thank you! If you like the tune, subject "odissi dance" above- the first vid is a pair dancing that song. Exquisite.
Such an absolulely gorgeous and talented artist. I bow to her and touch her lotus blossom feet. I love odissi not only for it's conection to the apsaras of the temples but for the use of the pakawaj betowing upon it a certain dignity and regalness. I would like to know, from someone better informed than the Bruha(wich in spanish)able, the reason for the change in costume over the last 20 years or so. What happened to the dhoti like (fishtail sari?) and short choli?
In Odissi, the dancer uses her waist a lot. Her movements are very fluid, soft, delicate, like flowing water. Look at the way the wrist, waist, hips, neck, and arms move.
I was just trying to explain the difference to the best of my ability. Kathak itself is a later Indian dance; it has more Persian influence than anything else. As for Manipuri and sattriya, while Sattriya may be closer to more "Indian" styles of dance, both are from an area far removed from the areas where dances like Odissi and Bharatnatyam were created. I'm not trying to leave them out; they are just from a different, but equally rich and beautiful culture.
Kathak too originated in temples, if u know there are 3 gharanas of kathak, in which lucknow gharana only has persian influence, rest two are purely indian.
Sir, I appreciate your views. But just like to know is there any mention like this in the sastra any where that each refers to different aspect of pancha bootha? In which sastra it is mentioned.
She is not a odissi dancer. She is a bharatnatyam dancer. Bcos her expressions and makeup style is of bharatnatyam. Odissi makeup is too different from this. Bengapatia is too short and it is of bharatnatyam. Hairstyle is also like bharatnatyam. Her whole thing is like bharatnatyam. I am a odissi dancer that's why I can know what is the mistake in in the dancing style and make up style. So plz don't insult the dance form. It is a request to all from my side. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
She one of most well known odissi dancer and if you are a odissi dancer I think you must know that now a days it has changed a lot and she has learned it many many years ago by Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra and I can tell this because I am a student of her and if she was a Bharatnatyam dancer I think she could not do this so perfectly.😀😏
Santoshini yes she might have borrowed make up and hairstyle from Bharatnatyam but she is still a fine and famous dancer of Odissi. May be she is trying to make this make up and hairstyle her signature look. I loved it.

thx for your knowledge about various dances.........it was very helpful...............

Bharatanatyam goes on...and on...and on...if you watch the performances its like a marathon because the story is typically so long. Odissi is much more nice to watch, and is also more feminine.
Is there any particular rasa which is performed better in odissi as compared to other forms?

Wahhh 😍😍😍👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

Not waist, the torso. In odissi dance, torso movement is unique and compulsory, never the waist or hips.
SpellBound, Mesmerising, Enticing 😊

Every art form is dynamic ..but the base is always static..she is just perfect
very beautiful
she has a *perfect* rear end, and a mane that is heaven
Artificial and forced expressions...needs to be more natural
❤❤❤
