Turkey and all Turks will never forget your help during our most needy time in 1920s. Although, your people were not the richest, you send everything you had to us, money and gold. When Is Bank was created, 250000 TL of the 1 Million Bank Assets was the remaining money that came from the muslims in Pakistan / India. This was a lot of money during that time. the word "Burda or Buraya" in Turkish means "here". Turks are very hospital and honest people by nature. The only ones who usually try to mob are the ones found in Taksim square or other tourist areas where they offer to accompany you to bars and nightclubs. The Orthodox church area you are referring to is Balat... one of "must visit" muhala if you call it... it has much of the greek Christina population there with lot of colourful old houses and cafes.
