- Hot Street is a song that Michael Jackson loved and was planned for the #Thriller album, it was first titled “Slapstick”, but its lyrics made no sense, so the songwriter of the track, Rod Temperton, decided to re-write the lyrics, and Michael loved the song so much that he wanted to help re-write it, this being the end result, however, the track's own composer Rod and Thriller album producer Quincy Jones thought it was too "poppy" for the direction the album appeared to be going, and even though Michael really wanted it on Thriller, it ended up being scrapped.
The reason for its absence on the Thriller 40 album is unknown, it's quite disconcerting, as it is one of the most outstanding and rhythmic unreleased songs that were not included on the original album.

I love this...even though it wasn't included on Thriller I'm still glad it gets some recogntition to this day.

This song is a banger. Michael was cooking during those Thriller sessions, between this song and Behind the Mask, Quincy might’ve left some meat on the bone for Thriller.
I am paying attention to the lyrics, and after all these years, I thought that the line during the chorus is: "Fun on the Run". However, I see that it states, "You're Number One".
yeah everywhere they say its fun on the run , but its wrong, this is first video i see used the right one

How would that be possible, these demos are his solo tracks, when he was working on thriller, guess these ones did not make on the main album when he was pick out songs to release.

Yeah, I get what you mean, I like Slapstick a bit better too, but the lyrics are... weird/nonsense, a mix between Slapstick with the "Hot Street" lyrics would be perfect IMO.
Yeah this song wouldn't fit thriller at all lol song would of stick out like a sore thumb great song though.
