ah the feeling of relief when both seat post and stem come out of a rusty crusty neglected old bike...The one by with a thumbie is a great choice for a bullet proof drive train I love those canti racks, rode with one until it literally broke after about a decade of use
Try cutting the inner tube so that you only have a single section of rubber. Looks cleaner.

Very nice! I have this type of front rack and zip-tied a basket to it. That's much better than hanging a basket from the handlebars. Deglaze the brakepads with sandpaper or a file and the noise is gone!

I think you could have done a little more to make the paint pop again. Try regular paint cleaner from the auto parts store and afterwards a wax finish. This is so oddyl satisfying, you won't stop grinning. Plus, especially for steel frames, it's an investment into the future because of the rust protection you add to the frame.

5 speed shifter and 7 speed cassette - just using only 5 gears or switched to friction mode? (nice build btw)
I couldn’t find cheap shifter with 7 speed, with £100 Budget it wasn’t easy 🫣🫣🫣

Thanks🙏it was hard to fit in £100 budget, this may be a problem, you're right, it would be best to buy narrow chainring but if you turn it over it should be ok. so far the bike is working great.
