Stamps introduced me to No No Kuni, and in turn let me find studio Ghibli in itself.
Also, Ponyo was a great movie.
Yeah
Finally someone said this, Ponyo was amazing. The animation of the water was insanely high quality. And the story is tear jerking, God especially at the end.
Oh yeah, and I love the designs of Ponyo's Mom and Dad 🥰
Lots of people love ponyo
yeah wtf. why ppl hating on ponyo? beautiful film
Only intellectuals learn about games from Stampy.
Now I wanna watch it *youtubes ni no kuni stampy*
i first played ni no kuni bc of his lets play, now its my fav game
What about Martyn littlewood?
Yo anyone wanna play Rain (PS3)?
No legends
MY BROTHER HAS THE EXACT BACK STORY TO YOURS
THANK YOU STAMPY
treymoney 101 Honestly, same
treymoney 101 same
Same
Me to
Same lmao
OH YES FINALLY
ANOTHER HIGH BEING THAT SEES NI NO KUNI FOR WHAT IT IS
glad to meet you brother
Im so happy to see someone give this game the praise it deserves, this is my favourite game of all time.
My dad bought it one day cause he thought i'd like it, and then we ended up playing through the whole game together and it was just incredible, and then a few years later i found Stampy's letsplay and it made me love the game even more lol.
almost exact same thing happened to me! my aunt bought me the game because she thought id like it!
Ni no kuni is much like a Studio Ghibli movie. On the surface, there's one story but underneath is something else entirely.
Ni no kuni, at its essence, is a story about the grieving process. The adventure is merely a platform to convey the grieving process and how we come to terms with losing someone.
True, holefully they will make a full moviw out of this one day. The story is better then spirited away or howls moving castle
I swear, it feels like everyone was introduced to this game through either Stampy or InTheLittleWood.
Myself included.
I plaued it on my own but def enjoyed his playthrough
You’re little skit at the beginning of the video is literately ripped right out my life
Yeah
wrong your. I just used the one you were supposed to use in that sentence (sorry I'm a bit of a grammar nazi)
FINALLY someone did a good review and not just a full recap! I found this game because i adore studio ghibli when i found out about it i got obsessed and when i found out you did a video (because i heard the Al Mamoon music and i was like wait a minute that sounds like what i was doing at 2am crying because ESTHER KEPT DYING AND JOE HISAISHI MAKES ME EMOTIONAL) i flipped, so thank you so much! keep making good content!
I too discovered Ni No Kuni through Stampy. Watched his let's play at least 3-4 times, from video 1 to video 90 (91 is mostly credits so I don't really watch that one a lot) because I genuinely didn't think I'd ever get a chance to play it. When I found out it was coming on the Switch, I dropped the money for both a switch and for the game later in September (I was already considering getting one for botw and Ni No Kuni was the main deciding factor). Even after knowing the story inside and out like the back of my hands I still 110% enjoyed the game when I got a chance to play, especially because I got to really dive into the Wizard's Companion... I could go on and on about how much I love this game and how unable I will always be to praise it highly enough but I ought to leave that to new players because the discovery id the world is probably the best part of the game (although the story too is amazing and I love Oliver's character and I love his journey and... okay no more xD)
Oh, and side note: I have the entire official soundtrack downloaded on my phone at all times PLUS a few of the tracks that they left out for some reason, such as the theme that plays while Cerboreas speaks after battle or the theme that plays with Shadar's knight familiar, which are probably my favorite two tracks despite not being on the official track and... oh god I needa stop rambling I just love this game so much and I will never say differently
Ni no Kuni 2's on PC too, and it's on sale on Steam for under $30 with the DLC right now.
Christ man, 30 minutes on a video about Ni No Kuni?
That's some passion
The fact I just discovered this video even though this came out two years ago is funny
The fact that there's a review about Ni No Kuni (One of my favorite games ever) that's longer then 10 minutes is hilarious
The fact that your "Ni No Kuni" history is exactly how I would describe mine is downright hysterical
Amazing review, keep it up!
I have been saying "I'm gonna get this game one day" for YEARS
but now it's on PC and Switch I might actually take the plunge
Did you like it?
@@WhoZ_Error I never actually took the plunge.
I have a giant list of other RPGs to make it through now lol
on the bright side, I'm finding some other good stuff
Alright
I also got it on the Switch. I was debating on getting one because Botw looked so interesting despite having never played any LoZ games and then I heard Ni No Kuni (the good one) was getting released on the Switch too so I went for it.
Bern worth every goddamn penny of both game, switch, and whatever other costs that have gone with it and haven't regretted it for even a second, and this was after watching Stampy's let's play on it over 3-4 times (I never thought I'd get the game so I was determined to learn everything and anything about it)
Did you ever take the plunge?
"They make it so no stone could be left unturned or a question asked without a proper answer."
Ni No Kuni 2: 👀💦
God who didn't love this game because of Stampy? Have this game on my switch now and had great nostalgia and fun playing it again after watching it 6 years ago
Finally someone who talks about the wizards companion! my favorite part of it is the twelve tales of wonder and my favorite story has to be “the cowardly prince and the lion” I recommend reading the twelve tales since they give a backstory to important items or places
I DISCOVERED NI NO KUNI FROM STAMPY AND ITS GENUINELY ONE OF MY FAVE GAMES THANK U
Dang haven't seen this game in a very long time.
I haven't finished the game yet, although I remember Stampy's let's play pretty clearly. I think there's one major part aspect of the game that helps it feel alive, and that's the NPCs. I don't mean just because they fill up the world, but because each of them feel unique and like actual people. Heck a lot of the people you see in Motorville are people who's soulmates you regularly go on quests for in the other world. And that's another thing, the quests. You'll often get the same couple getting brokenhearted constantly, or Derwin sending you on the most infuriating familar fetch-quests. Plus Horace is a constant figure and, although I don't yet know everything about him, it's made apparent that he's an important figure, and not just from the way he introduces himself. He gets bits and pieces of his memories back with every location you meet him at, and every story he gives you. He's another piece of optional world building, but at the same time he feels like an actual person who you slowly become friends with throughout the course of you adventure.
Ni no Kuni wrath of the white witch is the best game ever made
It truly is the best game ever made lol 😌❤️🥰
this is the first time I know about this game, I had have not idea about it even being fan of Miyazaki and his studio long enough, but even with out playing the game yet Am agree with you for shure. Oh My Heavens.
YES I have literally played it 3 time and watch it 5
Such a fantastic game. I can’t help but smile looking back on it. I think this game has one of my favorite “fake out” endings after the confrontation with Shadar. I was surprised to see how much game was left after that point. And I love the story, characters, music and animation. I’m glad that you had the same appreciation for it. :)
I have the exact same backstory. I’ve never related so hard
When I was 10 I watched stampys full play through then I got the game played it got the the white witch, didn’t have enough provisions and overwrite my saves so I started the game over played it again then a year and a half later played again and rn I’m in a playthough outside the castle with 22 hours of game time
The funny thing about this video is that both me and my friend’s family, both got into Ni No Kuni via Stampy. Heck I didn’t even remember about this game until I went to their house one year and saw them playing the game on their switch. That pushed me to buy the game (somehow it was at my local GameStop) as well as the sequel a year later when I had the money (also at my local GameStop by shear luck). I’m also so happy that a CZcamsr like you has played this and also made a video about it. So even though I’m nearly 3 years late, thank you for making this video and talking about NNK.
P.S. I actually got into Level 5 games about a couple years prior due to YKW being a special interest of mine, so finding out my other childhood memory was made by them both surprised and excited me a lot. Sorry about this wall of text you’ll probably never read, but again thank you for talking about NNK.
This was a really good review and am now interested to pick it up. Keep up the good work.
I remember watching in the little woods let's play of this. It was like a daily tradition just to come home and watch his newest episode
I come back and watch this about once a year. Always fun to hear someone gush about your favorite game
The whole stampy introducing you to the game that became your favourite- that's so me. I plsy it everyday tho. Im obssessed.
Its like 'huh i finished it? Lets play again' 'huh im bored replaying it? Post game content!' 'Bored of postgame? Replay again!'
I remember watching the playthrough Stampy made for this game, thanks for this great video.
This is the crossover of the century - Just stop and Stampy!! I found the game through him too!
Lol your description is also me exactly. At around 6-7, I found his let's play, and 10 years later, I finally beat this game just a few months ago!
BRO THATS MY BACKSTORY NOT EVEN JOKING OMG
edit: time played- 360 hours
I have 250 in it for plat it was fun af
damn I wish you didn't show spoilers lol. I'm playing the game again since I played it several years ago when I was too young to fully understand so I forgot everything after shadar. good video tho
32:50 he almost shed a tear of joy, but I have no shame in saying that I was ugly sobbing
Honestly it really is such a classic. Also ironically I need to play the second game at some point.
You got across what made this game work. And yes, I think it is necessary to say whimsy often in order to capture it. It's a beautiful game even now, the story is still touching, and the music just helps build that atmosphere. Honestly I just ended up getting the game when it came out and never regretted it.
As someone who Platinum Trophied this on PS3 can confirm it was a masterpiece! Had over 200 hours in it and I even filled a lot of the familiars in on the wiki (as catching every familiar was a trophy) def a masterpiece
Wow, I asked for this for Christmas and perfect timing, this video came up.
This game is on sale for 15 bucks right now.
SORRY WALLET
I got it for 10$ on the eShop (where the standard price would be 50$) - it was damn worth it
Did you use stampys gameplay for this
Hey just stop can I let you know something im making a indie game called xenomon
u guys found this game through a lets play? i was on holiday and there was this farmers market sold some random trinkets and i found this for the ps3, my brother tried to talk me out of buying it but i got it anyway since it looked fun and it ended up being one of my favourite games of all time
Just found ni no kuni on sale, it seems pretty good.. i might just pick it up, can't go wrong with £8 as opposed to £50
Only comment I can make on this is that the sequel can be played on the pc, although if you don’t have a good pc it isn’t worth it, definitely feels like it should’ve been a standalone since the only real connection between the two would be parts of the lore
Theres a movie version of this games story concept on netflix XD
See, there are just too many ways to say that ya ain't wrong kiddo.
Memes aside, Ni No Kuni is kinda just the best shit.
When I played NNK 1 (I didn't finish it simply because I'm not very adept at JRPG's) and one of the stater enemies was a Sheep call a "Baatender" I was INSTANTLY won over. I'm glad someone else appreciates the Pun names as much as me.
i’m playing ni no kuni right now! i remember watching stampys play through as a kid too 😭💕
I only recently got the chance to play this game for myself and it is easily my favorite game. I have managed to keep my party members mostly alive and am working on the post game before starting over on normal mode. There aren't enough words to describe why I fell in love even though I knew the story. The second game is on my list despite complaints people have.
I am still taken aback by how Studio Ghibli made an RPG!
Giggled at the intro bc that's exactly how I got into ni no kuni lmao
It’s so cool how you found this masterpiece just like how I did. What’s crazy for me is I didn’t get to experience it until 9 years later (on the switch port)!
36 hours? I'm at 45 and have only got the first stone. really loving the game and taking my time, doing everything they have to offer.
I’ve always wanted to play this game because of the ratings and I’ve been craving a good jrpg for a while.
This game is pure joy. Very few times did I get frustrated. And the soundtrack, oh god, the soundtrack. Its ear candy.
My story with ni no kuni is litterally the EXACT same
1:19 Dude... C’mon. Ponyo’s fine.
Right? That kinda surprised me.
It really is,the only thing I would change would be to make taming familiars alil less rng,the cycling through actions during battle was annoying especially when u need to gaurd asap,so I would of preferred like a kingdom hearts-esq shortcut system for actions. Other than that pretty solid game. In my HEART 4ever.
Yess I love this game no no Kuni is so good it deserves more recognition
Just recently found out about this game because the sequel relased on the xbox store. This looks really great and original. The animation style also reminds me of studio ghibli films.
Do mites look like dragon quest hero erdrick?
This game is on sale on steam right now!
Got that swagkage voice and delivery
Ive been fan of Miyazaky work and old teamwork, all my life, but This is the moment I discover this... you have not idea the gift you just gave me. Thank you. And yess I agree with other coments, this must be the best game ever made.
oh and also the second game is available on Switch and its genuinely great. They took the only complaints I had about the first game and integrated fixes into the sequel
Drippy actually saved one of my people I need to tidy chairs any saved one of my people on a bus ride from dying and I’m like wow he actually did something useful with it
The intro is exactly what happened to me
Never played this game, but it seems so cute, and I guess this game had a good story to tell, well I guess I will buy a copy for Nintendo Switch
I only became aware of Ni No Kuni because of Martin (InTheLittlewood) wearing a Ni No Kuni shirt in a behind the scenes video for HoneydewYeaYea then forgot about it for a few years until I played it last year (and got the platinum for it too on Ps4).
Even though I played the game AFTER playing NNK2:RK, I still enjoyed WotWW a lot, though it got a bit tedious when farming for the rarer materials for the alchemy. My favourite theme/ost from this game will always be Ara Memoriae's track.
WE HAVE THE SAME NI NO KUNI ORIGIN STORY DUDE, THAT’S CRAZY!! I watched Stampy’s let’s when I was like 7 or 8 but never finished. I just beat the game last week, ~9 years after first seeing it and I loved every second
AH A MAN OF CULTURE ASWELL
What was the deal with the ponyo part? Its like the best ghibli movie, its really fun
THAT IS EXACTLY HOW I GOT INTO NI NO KUNI LOL. Except i only watched a bit of his lets play and remembered it years later and i decided to give it a try, great game.
we share a lot in common, but also i play this game yearly and theres always something different, except one thing im always terrified of that jellyfish
How do we have the same backstory of finding this game
The game itself and my nastolgia with Stampy makes this up their with my favorite games
I agree off of the title alone
Edit: clicked fast assuming you were talking about NNK2 since this video was 9 months ago
Man just seeing that art style makes me wanna go back and watch castle of cagliostro 🤣
That's what happened with me except i already spoiled myself but am sparing myself out from the actual *actual* final boss.
I es contemplating on whether I should get the game or not but now.... now I shall.
i watched stampy’s play through and i’m still in love with this game but my parents never let me play it lol
have you played Ni No Kuni II : Revenant Kingdom?
I have almost the same backstory when it comes to finding the game except I waited like 5 ish years to actually play it😅😅
finally someone reviewing a diamond in the rough
You should definitely check out Ni No Kuni Revenant Kingdom. It's a fun and charming game 😊
I remember watching stampylonghead play ni no kuni he was my child hood
Quick correction: You don't lose any ingredients if your "Mix and Match" fails.
Joe’s daughter sang the main theme in Japanese, not English.
Honestly the sequel is pretty good.I have it on my laptop but it's a little laggy, even on the lowest settings. The fighting is much more fun and interactive (it's more swordplay its REALLY fun) and some of the characters feel more fleshed out than the first game (especially Evan and Roland and their relationship).
I remember finding this game from stampy too lol
I discovered the game the exact same way, except the British youtuber that introduced me to it was Inthelittlewood
Just played this for the first time, what a great game.
That entire opening story is scarily similar to how I also discovered this game (and by scarily similar, I mean exactly the same)
14:34 THIS HAPPENS TO ME ALL THE TIME
Finally someone said it I’m playing the remastered game rn I love this game so much intensely
this is basic of my origin of my love of this game
It's hilarious how many people learnt about the through Stampy including me
Ni ni Kuni mashes the vibes of Ghibli, Layton, and Pokemon together with an insane amount of skill and so much charming original content
you dont understand how much this game meant to me when i was in 2nd grade
