- Legendary self-taught Oscar winning electronic music greek composer Vangelis, born "Evángelos Odysséas Papathanassíou" has just recently past away.
Best known for his music scores in Chariots of Fire, Blade Runner and his work with documentaries by Jacques Cousteau. Then in the early 2000's for major sporting events including the Olympics and the FIFA World Cup, and much more.
Back in 1989 the Amiga had a tiny scene release based on him. This is it...

Today (5/19/2022) is a sad day for humanity for losing this Genius.
He died may 17th.
My favorite Vangelis albums are The City, Oceanic, and the 1492 soundtrack. He was a master of composing albums as a complete experience, not just a selection of tracks.
Oh man haven't seen this in ages, epic tune.
I actually remember having this demo back in the day. Not seen an heard it in a very long time. Great choice for a tribute to such an electronic music icon.
Thought you might know this one. Seemed fitting
While you are here Mr Anderson... Do check my community tab, lots to disagree on... maybe :) "say it"
uch great lost, he composed some of the most epic and most memorable soundtracks and albums. So hunting and emotion filled. This very heartbreaking news.
Beautiful stuff, I hope that the legend himself rests in peace.
Sad to hear that Vangelis has passed away. His album from 1984, Soil Festivities, is a favorite of mine. Highly recommended.
Perfect.

look at the Discography - just listen to it all and emerge . . dive into this other world that is ours
RetroDemoScene wtf? This is LITERALLY the theme from COSMOS, and all you talk about are Chariots and Bladerunner. Shameful. Vangelis got his big break from his music being in COSMOS, and is why he get his later gigs in Chariots and Bladerunner.
I'd be here all night if i listed all his work. Those listed is for people who may not know the man but would for sure know him threw those movies.
I'm gonna go shamefully listen to more Vangelis. Regards.
