Pain Killer - Judas Priest

- Faster than a bullet
Terrifying scream
Enraged and full of anger
Hes half man and half machine
Rides the metal monster
Breathing smoke and fire
Closing in with vengeance soaring high
He is the painkiller
This is the painkiller
Planets devastated
Mankinds on its knees
A saviour comes from out the skies
In answer to their pleas
Through boiling clouds of thunder
Blasting bolts of steel
Evils going under deadly wheels
He is the painkiller
This is the painkiller
Faster than a lazer bullet
Louder than an atom bomb
Chromium plated boiling metal
Brighter than a thousand suns
Flying high on rapture
Stronger free and brave
Nevermore encaptured
Theyve been brought back from the grave
With mankind ressurrected
Forever to survive
Returns from armageddon to the skies
He is the painkiller
This is the painkiller
Wings of steel painkiller
Deadly wheels painkiller
NOTE: i am not trying to claim this as my own, rights go to Judas Priest and their..uh.. producers etc etc. Just don't delete the audio track youtube!
If there's anything I learned about singing its
1. Drink plenty of water
2. Don't try to sing painkiller
michael smubly We had a rockband party and drunk me sang this on hard. my voice was so fucked the next day. hahaha
you're either born with the range to sing this song or you're not that's it.
I was born with this range, but I've been training for a year to perfect it lol
+jazzbonesjohnny well the overdrivin' voice is still hard to do ( I am born with a range of dreamer deceiver which is lighter on your voice but need to reach higher notes).
+shag stars oh agreed, adding vocal fry properly into the 5th octave is difficult. eventually though while singing I found a certain way to add it in like James la Brie from Dream Theater. back from the Awake album mind you.
jazzbonesjohnny well I have to find a way to do it without messing up my vocals. (well wiskey helpes sometimes with that). I am gonna check that album (never listened to it).
When I feel down and depressed, metal is what I need. No other type of music has this kind of power!
Justin Main
I feel the same way bro
absolutely right.
Same here, and other people look at me like I'm insane. "How could this angry music make you happy?". Well, it does.
Soo true dao no other kind of musik has this kind of power
Justin Main I agree. Metal is my go to music when I'm pissed off or sad about something
I wonder how many people realize this was made when Judas Priest were in their 40s!! I mean most bands aren't even close to making songs like this in their twenties and thirties!!
Wouldn't more experience with music mean better songs?
PanosK298 but Slayer tho
The thing that impresses me the most about this song is just the fact that he could still sing this way after so many years. Most vocals you hear today had to be softened because their vocal chords became shit from either too much screaming or drugs
metallica started in their early 20s and KEA is like chapter 1 in the thrash metal bible
yeah but they're fucking Metallica! haha
Serop Pasha I dont really like Metallica all that much
One of my favorite solos of all time.
+
This whole song is one of the best songs ever to be crafted by these metal gods
too right!! fucking tremendous
Nate C. it's fucking savage!!!
Tears of savage joy come into my eyes every time i listen to this solo. I wonder what was going on on Glenn's mind or if he realises what a beast has he created.
Holy shit that drumming.
+Josh Houston right???? :)!
muj
yup...ive been playing drums for over 25 years.....metal for a lot of it. I tried drums on rock band and couldn't do it. it's so different.
Try Death's cover, I personally think it's far better than even the original
I used to watch Scott Travis play in a bar band (Hooker) in Norfolk Va. They loved to play Judas Fucking Priest (they couldn't say that due to va abc laws). He sat real low and all you could see was his arms flying.
i was 15 when this came out. it took me 3 years to recover.
I never recovered....
alitheia? xD
Valpix _ τι να κανω?αφου ειναι δισκαρα.
Excuse me!?
I'm 15 now, and found this song like a week ago. Been listening to this and other songs from Judas Priest for a full week now xD
The vocals Rob could never repeat again.
True dat XD But still love him.
Watch "Halford - Painkiller - Live in Anaheim 2003" i think it's pretty close.
Sadly true, he doesn't hit the high parts like he used to, but I saw the Epitaph show in Denver and he killed it that night. Not like the studio version but it was VERY good.
Yes. Same with Bruce Dickenson on 'Number of the Beast' and 'Run to the Hills'. Those two boys outdid themselves in the studio. I have yet to hear a live clip of Halford, even back when the song was released, to do justice to it like on the album track. Just frigging amazing singing.
it's been like 24 years since they released this album....of course he can't....he's a human....like the rest of us....and he doesn't need playback and computers to sing....rob halford and glenn tipton gods of heavy metal
That is by far the most metal album cover I have ever seen
Most Metal? What part are you reffering to?
ImmortalityGames this or the number of the beast is the most metal album cover
What about the burning twin flying V's from Accept's Restless and Wild? Or Manowar's Kings of Metal?
Three words:
The Wretched Spawn
Number of the Beast?
Judas.
Fucking.
Priest.
One of the heaviest and best metal albums ever. Period end.
2:10
By far one of the most badass solos ever. And My favorite part to this song.
This is fuckin' epic !!
It's a dead tie between this and free wheel burnin'. Text book heavy metal solos.
Pain Killer is my absolute favorite band of all time, and Judas Priest is one of their best songs!
💀
You have that backwards Judas Priest is the band and Painkiller is the song.
JUDAS PRIEST IS THE BAND...PAIN KILLER IS THE TRACK
Lol
the drums are just so fucking fresh for something written almost 30 years ago
soon 24 ;)
arnonyme6 oh yeah. for some reason i keep thinking this album was released in 1987..
such a killer tune
arnonyme6 yep, came out the year i was born, DO NOT make me feel old :p
If I had a choice, that would be my killing spree song.
I've been reading the comments and it makes me proud to see so many of you younger metal heads loving priest it gives me hope for our future ive been a priest fan since the British steel. album iv seen them in new York 4 times I've seen them in new jersey 4 times I've seen them in germany for the turbo tour when I was in the US army and I saw them in florida 3 times im going to see them September 11th 2018 in charlotte NC probably for the last time it's been a great ride on the wind with this band im sad it has to end but im sure glad I took the trip. I say to all metal heads keep defending our metal faith faithfully
Just saw them last nite in Mountain View Ca and my first show was British Steel tour. So many holes in the set but they did play delivering the goods and desert plains. Rock on brother!
keep metal alive!!!
During that last scream I imagine Bugs Bunny dressed as a maestro, ushering Rob to go on as he turns red, then purple, blue, green, and ultimately passes out.
I laughed so hard I passed out and had to wake up to post this comment
Habitat you in there WELL life whit elements
Kill the wabbit,kill the wabbit...😆
HAHAHA
rofl
This is the worlds greatest metal song. Has all the traits of what metal should be: Harsh vocals, screaming guitars, laser fast solos, thrashy, solid drumming....this song embodies everything.
And that's when the speakers melted to the desk, the monitor exploded and the sub-woofer blew all the nails out of the floor.
Heavy Metal Hitman face book \m/
108johnny NICE COPY AND PASTE SKILLZ :P
SlamifiedBuddafied there was no subwoofers back then! But we did have some kick ass speakers
I can imagine that. That is so fucking intense. Metal will never ever fucking die!
...and shattered every drinking glass in the room..!! ;)
Solos....Solos everywhere
Best song to get you started for a good work out. I can run at ludicrous speed listening to this shit.
agree
hell ya! metal in general will get you pumped
+gnrcrueratt this whole album is the best thing i ever listened to while running... shit turns me into usain bolt
heavy mental in general lol
True but there's few metal i like as much as this. might have to explore more though
Thank you metal gods for heavy metal and Brutal Legend
This was the the song of the night that they played in Halifax. Grown men were crying. Priest= metal God!
I've listened to all kinds of different metal but to this day this song, a song about a cyborg angel on a razor motorcycle bringing judgment down upon evil, remains the most metal thing I've ever heard.
"THE SKINKILLER!" The sheer terror when a friend chooses Painkiller as the next song on Rock Band 2 and you're on drums.
NEW RULE: It is now illegal to dislike this song ✋
Good
AGREED!!
It is legal but frowned upon to have mixed feelings about this song.
Haters: Breaking The law
This album came out when I was 16. I had grown up on them from my older brother, and always loved them, but this just took it to another level. Such a phenomenal song! Can’t believe it’s been 28 years.
THAT DRUM SOLO AT THE BEGINNING AND GUITAR AT THE END!!!!!!!!!!
One of the best thrash metal songs of all time.
@Mannerheim Speed/Thrash mix
i got offered a roxy this morning, i been clean for 3 years on painkillers and heroin completly, so when iam in pain, i come listen to j.p and they cure all my pain, there my painkiller. great song by the way, and a great album to.
IRON BLACK SABBATH MAIDEN do you ever feel normal again bro?
Good for you
Stay clean man. Been clean since 11-11-12
@@MrJosh5191 I feel great now.
@@rockinron3215 normal,?
Once you start listening to Painkiller, you can't just skip to another track. Gotta have it ALLLllllllll.
Magnificent.
The doom theme is basically a mix of this and master of puppets.
I knew it sounded familiar
No remorse instead of master of puppets to be precise
Стравуйте gopnik brother
This guy, King Crimson, and DIO are some of the most badass musicians that ever lived.
You forgot Bruvce Dickinson and King Diamond
Agreed.
*****
Tony Iommi :D
***** Who's "this guy"? Halford, Tipton, Downing, Hill, or Travis? :)
Well, Judas on vocals, so...
That guitar sound, the pitched harmonics, the sharp drumming and full on vocals. Love it.
Those opening drums are life changing.
Humans don't have this voice.
That's ok. Rob Halford is not a human. He's a god :)
True... I LOVE IT
This is REAL metal....what a great song....one of the 10 best ever.
Other 9?
What is "Real" metal?
Kevin Tiedeman THIS. Not this isn’t real metal. You follow?
I love the fact that I started out in life with rap only exposure to music, got into metal starting with shitty nu metal, found a few metal core bands I love like heaven shall burn, disembodied, trash, power metal and death metal bands I like with death metal being my fav metal genre and can still realize how fucking hard Judas Priest rocks. I didn't discover Judas priest until a year and a half ago thanks to a amazing D.J. at the golden gloves boxing tournament and it is some of the most amazing shit I have ever heard. The riffs, the vocals, the drumming I love everything about it.
+BoyTitan good to see you in the metal community lol. I started in the same way as you, and as ive stated on some jusdas priest song comment somwhere on youtube" If you seek the truth you shall find it!". this is the realist and most original form of metal(to me)" so much power and soul, it will always stay with you, remember my words. keep on rockin my friend!!!!!!
Six minutes of pure, unadulterated, balls to the wall heavy metal.
Hell yeah man
Definitely my new fave by Judas Priest. So glad I was raised around metal.
One of the best solo of this best Heavy Metal band!!!
hearing that last verse still makes my skin crawl Halford is the best.
Thats the best guitar solo I have ever heard
Officially the most badass song ever wrote.
This is one of the greatest songs these ears have ever heard. Metal!!!!!!
You know something is wrong when you type in Painkiller and Three Days Grace shows before this.
nights1515 lol
nights1515 so true but still three days grace used to be better though in Adams days you know
Wow, wtf happened to this world
:(
Four years Later and still shows up Three Days Grace😂
Best Judas Priest song off of Best Judas Priest album. 1990 was a great year for metal.
What a great metal Inferno!
Holy Fuck, that guitar solo.
+Apples Are Awesome ------- Best Judas Priest guitar solo.
+popas7
Definitely.
+Apples Are Awesome what about the drums at the beggining??
***** oh you ;-);-):-D:-D:-D:-D
+Apples Are Awesome
Solo from All guns blazing is way better.
I usually don't focus on the quality of the vocals too much, but Rob blew me away. He's like a metal opera singer.
This song truly kills your pain immediately! And that epic intro!
That scream at 4:13 would be amazing for a ringtone
no
LOL
That album cover is the most badass thing I've ever seen in my life
I've officially become a judas fan now. thanks to my uncle I've now found a beautiful new band
Giovanni Barba jp are not beautiful . They are BADASS
Checkout Dio when you are ready.
This stuff was the fastest back then, and now it still is.
not even close to fastest, but still some of the best
listen to John Petrucci he blows this out of the water
Matt J Only thing is John Petrucci bores me to tears.
***** You know... Slayer and Exodus still writes music :/ They surpass this.
Best heavy metal song ever
+Tony Thrash Of that, there can be no doubt.
not thrash, its Speed/Heavy metal
Fuck yeah
@@wei446 pure heavy metal
Definitely deserves top 3.. There are so many great metal songs. My #2 is Start the fire by Metal Church. Check it out if you've never heard it. Hit the highway jamming it and do 90mph. It's the only way
Robs lungs must have been like raisins towards the end of the song
hacking117
LOL
Meh! He's a vocal god! It would take much more than that to wear down Rob's voice!
actually his lungs became metal from the song
Fkn lol
He probably needed a painkiller afterwards.
I'll see myself out
FAS-TER-THAN-A-LA-SER-BUL-LET! LOU-DER-THAN-AN-AT-OM-BOMB!
+The Guy by far the biggest fuckin line of the entire song.
+The Game Knight *epic face melting solo
FAS-TER-THAN-A-ROLLER-COASTER! LOU-DER-THAN-A-BAKED-BEANS-FART!
Those vocals are godly. Just when you think it couldn't get any higher.
The Guy CHRO-MIUM-PLA-TED-BOI-LING-ME-TAL!
That solo always gets me.
THIS IS THE PAINKILLER
The greatest f*** climax of the f**** history of heavy f**** metal in its extreme plenitude, splendour and magnificence!
When Judas Priest created this song; I wonder if Rob Halford knew that he would be moving towards 70 years old and would *still* have to *try* perform this jaw-dropping, vocal chord-shredding masterpiece. Rob; you made a rod for your own back the day you first performed this live...!!
Best album of Judas Priest ! When this come out I was amazed by the intensity, speed and a real changement in their music !
Has any one heard the death's version of this song? Chuck did a really good job at making a death metal version of this song!
OK. Here's a real question. Has anyone to this day tried to make that bike?
+Anes Mesic They tried to, but when they were driving they turned into a skeleton. Unfortunately the bike itself would not move since the blades in the wheel broke through the pavement and created a giant 100 foot long fissure in the Earth
+Pinkie Pie They had to lock it away because anyone who saw it exploded unless they were metal enough. And no one on earth is metal enough for that shit.
Just a Tiger thing Awesome fucking comment.... Yep, I seen what ya did there.
*That's a positive, Ghost Rider.....
5carecrow94 Like the Goddamn Arc of Metalvant.... One explodes upon visualizing it.
@@5carecrow94 Dave Mustaine Phil Anselmo Dave Lombardo a few people could ride that bike
25 years listening this song and is still the greatest song of heavy metal.
Those vocals, man! Halford can melt speakers world wide.
My favorite part is 1:41 that brutal playing and the voice together sends down chill to my skin
Ikr the A# power chord just makes it a-freakin-mazing
I didn't know Starscream had a metal band.
Hahahaha
Huh neither did i
You just won the Internet 🤣🤣🤣
holy shit someone should make that a stopmotion
Gold mate just pure Gold
I heard this AFTER hearing all of Metallica and Slayer. I had to check deeper into Judas Priest since they were a very integral influence on both Metallica and Slayer. It was right after High School back in '03. I was blown away!
2:09--3:36. This is my favorite guitar solo in all of rock and metal. That guitar is screaming.
Who the hells on guitars!? Whoever he is, he frickin SHREDS!!!
Vernon682 Glenn Tipton and KK Downing.
+Daxter5150 sickest
+Vernon682 Glenn Tipton, maybe the greatest soloist of all times...
Tipton, Downing fucking beasts
Debiruman1666 Glenn and Darrell Dimebag
Songs like this are exactly why Rob Halford is "THE METAL GOD"!! lml lml
MELHOR MÚSICA DE HEAVY METAL DE TODOS OS TEMPOS !
That album cover is just absolutely frickin incredible!!
Probably the baddest Judas Priest track ever.....and best metal tunes of all time.
Chrisopher Nebling fuck you !
I think he meant the badassest
It sucks that this was my entire childhood and kids nowadays can't respect how good this music is
Now all it is is rap that is mostly listened to by the youth of society...
No, that's your opinion. It's not fact.
***** Well even though most kids are like that now. Most of us aren't. A lot of us dig deep into the past and discover great things like this. Hence being the reason I'm even here on this video.
***** I'm born in 2000, yet I feel like I should have been born in 1990 :/
Yeah I was born in 2002 and I love music from late 60s to late 90s
Possibly the most metal song of all time.
I respect anyone who attempt a vocal cover of Judas Priest - Painkiller or Iron Maiden - Aces High. These songs requires a vocal skill of hell.
I memorized the lyrics to this song by heart, and this song and Screaming for Vengeance both reflect on my personality.
2016 and counting, still no guitar solo can outclass this one yet.
The solo is just mindblowing!!!
big fan of megadeth ,iron maiden ,metallica....and its the first time i hear this song and i can say with full confidence that this is by far the best metal song i’ve ever heard if not the best song overall
Both this original version and Death's cover of this kick ass!
Death's cover was amazing. I normally don't care when bands cover other bands songs. But Death nailed it.
Agreed!
Seems I have to check that out yesteryear...
2:42 I don't care if this song is metal as fuck, that is beautiful beyond words. It hits something deep within that I didn't know was there. I imagine Glenn nailing that in the studio for the first time and everyone looking at him slack-jawed.
Best solo of all time. PERIOD.
Some bands make hits
Judas Priest make
Anthem.
British Metal at is best !
🇬🇧👍👍
Eh, Forget British metal, Swedish metal band about wars Is where's it's at
Dat drum intro
And outro
This is absolutely a masterpiece. I have never heard a snare sound so brutal. The drums absolutely carried the track and the guitar followed with perfect harmony. Im fuckin amazed.
One of my favorite album covers and song.
Going to see these heavy metal gods in concert tonight!!!!!!
Esta obra maestra demuestra el Poder que puede alcanzar el Ser Humano!
Not going to lie i have never listened to Judas Priest until my dad told me about them literally 2 days ago. This was his favorite band when he was a kid. Sick ass song.
quando 24 anni fa ascoltai questo batterista non mi sono più ripreso!
This should be the Terminator official theme
It annoys me when people say God is dead, Rob Halford is still alive damn..
Even if he were to die, He'd die a damn legend of metal
god is dead though, Lemmy died in december of 2015.
(Assuming if he's mortal)
Johnny Vincent I truly think Rob will live forever.
*Just remember! WWRD!!!!!!
@@andrewmcintyre9207 as did Freddie Mercury and Ronnie James Dio
literally best metal song of all time. this is pretty much definition how metal music should sound like, and even Judas were not able to pull off song like this anymore.
Es simplemente una de las mejores Bandas de Metal de todos los tiempos, y la canción... ¡uff! una de las mejores también
simplemente impresionante
song is brutal
halford is the stan lee of metal
Rip Stan Lee
I sent this song to one of my friends and he stopped it less than a minute after starting it.The next day at school, he told me it wasn’t music and was just screaming. I said “Then let’s hear you try to sing this.” Only Rob Halford can sing Painkiller.
Heard this for the 1st time when i was in rehab in 1996...whenever i feel down i listen to this song...saved my life more than once
How perfected Silver Chariot Requiem looks like
