The Marshall sounds best, by far.
That Marshall sounds good though...
That other Marshall fell a bit short for me tho
Nah the marshall is a bit better imo
Yes lol
Indeed Marshall is the best. The rest is garbage 🤣
That’s the best tone I have heard anyone get out of the DSL 20 , it actually holds up pretty good to the SV and SC considering they cost twice the price. All the amps sounded fantastic.
You are right. After intense listening the DSL is the closest to the SV20H.
quite honestly, this video is the best advertisement for the DSL series
A more perfect example of how to make an amp demo does not exist. Standing ovation!
It could be improved a bit with a looper playing the exact same riff through it for the A/B tests, but otherwise it's a pretty great demo
Did you stand and ovate, sir?
@@rickyanthony Twice
@@watersnortmoment3734 But at least we’re able to jump back-and-forth with time stamps
So basically, a Marshall is a Marshall... is a Marshall... With slight nuances, but the core tone is always there. Great video by the way, love your content. :)
SV20H classic crunch is all you need.
@Fusion72 not everything that’s different is bad dude. Those sounds just don’t fit your style. Don’t be a boomer lol
Came for the comparison, and stayed for your playing!
finally someone playing stuff that doesn't sound like plucking a porcupine.
Have you plucked many a porcupine sir?
DSL20HR is by far my favorite. Thanks for this Man. About to get myself a new amp
you can buy 2 and a half DSL20HRs for the price of a Studio head
This amp demo is absolutely incredible. By far the best demo of the amps I’ve heard or seen! Brilliant content without all the fluff that others use as fillers. Excellent!!!
This is a very well played and excellent comparison video, covering essential Marshall signature tones. Addressing most aspects, all amps sounded fantastic,. Great video keep
More cool videos coming, will be on the look out.
Plexi. You can push it to heavier territory but only IT has that classic lower gain growl.
So nice how the little plexi really sounds like the real thing here. Made me miss so much my ole mkii 50w. For this kind of music, the sv has it all… much more organic and open tone.
Wow this video is actually gonna help me make a decision
SV20H crunch 4:13 17:39
SC20H crunch 7:35 21:01
2525H crunch 10:55 24:21
DSL20HR crunch 14:18 27:43
Definitely the video I've been waiting for someone to do. I've been after a killer Marshall head and cab but I cannot get anywhere to test anything thanks to the everything going. Thanks for this comparison
I bought the SV20H a year ago. It's my ninth Marshall amp and the one I like the most so far. It really is a great and versatile amp if you don't need channel switching. It's got a really great clean sound and the overdrive just can't be beat in my opinion. When pushed hard it goes almost on the fuzz territory. It's also a great pedal platform if needed. The only thing I wish is that it would have that same vintage look on the rear panel too.
I thought it sounded best here. I'm a boogie guy but I do have a dsl20hr that I like alot. I doubt I'll ever get an sv20h but they're cool for sure. Sounds like a much bigger amp
This comparison is superb and how comparisons should be done. Top job and thanks.
Man you win the prize for the best shootout video I have ever seen. Great feel on the guitar, cool songwriting, great video editing. I have a DSL 20 and feel like it held its own, except when you went for the more dissonant chords (which I loved). It also struck me that the plexi model seemed to sound the best on all the playing styles, chords and single not or double stop type riffs. I actually played a combo version today and loved it. Amazing work man, Marshall should send you a 100 watt 1959 for all your hard work!!
Just a fantastic job and effort putting this together. I have the DSL20H and really enjoy it and am convinced I will add the SV20H to keep it company!! BTW, the one nice thing the DSL20H also offers is the 3.5mm audio input jack on the back to plug in audio for playing along with mp3s etc. The others don't have that...
I like all of them, amazing comparison video! I had to listen at a low volume (it is late around here), because of listening at a low volume I noticed that the 2525H was the one that cut through the mix best, also noticed that it was probably because of the very rich mids it has, sounded huge even thou my volume was very low. Thanks for the awesome video!
Massive congrats on the weight loss mate. You look very healthy. And as always, stellar video. No shit, I'm excited whenever I see youve uploaded; very few channels I can say that about.
You do comparison videos the best out of anyone on CZcams by FAR! I love how you have these professionally recorded, and have band vs isolated. That's what we're looking to accomplish in the end are we not? When they're sounding at their absolute best, you show which one is better (or different). Thank you man, you're doing a great service by helping those of us shopping around to make an informed decision. Thank you.
I agree with the amount of work involved and the recording quality BUT, in my opinion for comparison and even reviews tracks shouldn't be doubled. It tends to level out all the subtle differences there is between amp model or guitars.
Another great video, another one I would have paid to see. This is quality content. Very professional. Love it! ❤️
Love that Gainy Rock tone groove, nice! They all sounded good to my ears in context lol
I like the simple rock-patterns that you use to do a demo. I can actually discern the sonic differences between each amp... Gotta love em all, but the '800 and Jubilee are my favs... Thanks for all of your hard-work Man !!
Wow! I enjoyed the playing as much as I did the sound comparisons. Nice classic rock tones there, dude! Really liked the chunk quality of the SC20.
Great demo as always. Thanks for putting this together!
Your demos are simply amazing.
The mini plexi has the most balls. A simple boost could get it into the high gain territory of the others. They all sounded really good here. For most versatility, I'd probably go with the Jube.
13 months later and I finally see this. Thanks SO much. Great job.
Absolutely dude! Thanks for the heads up Steve V. Lee! Excellent comparisons - I want all four. Marshall growl is just UNBEATABLE!
Wow, wat een werk ... geweldig gedetailleerde vergelijking zeg! Thanks!
Love the comparison! I have the SV20H on order thanks to this video! Great job!
wicked video! they all sound amazing. Really dig that Jubilee.
Outstanding!! I appreciate all the work this must have taken
Great video man , awesome demo , love Marshall tones, Well done!!!!
That clean segment is some killer writing! Please point me in the direction of your musical releases so I can jam them constantly!
I love your riffs, perfect for these amps!
Yess!!!! This is the demo we all needed!!!
Awesome job with the comparison, I love them all!
Great vid as always. It would be awesome to see how the competitors stack up to some of these like the Victory Sheriff 22 and the Ceriatone 2525.
Thank you for making all these videos! You have been really great source of sound knowledge for me. Good luck and inspiration for you!
I appreciate it! Cheers!
Very informative and very professionally done comparison! Thanks alot
Really enjoyed this video.
For me, I think the SV20 sounded best, but it's hard to tell how much of that was because I've already decided I like that one the best (I'm a follower of the Church of Hendrix, so why would I want anything else) and so my pre-existing bias will steer me towards that one. That said, they all sound, and given how much less the DSL costs, it's an incredible machine.
That sounds really good all of them also great pieces of work to display that great Marshall sound.nice job brother.
I did try a 50 watt JCM 2000 back in the year 2001 for a band practice and I was pretty impressed by it. I use a strat and I got as much gain as I would ever need without using a pedal, lot of variation in gain levels, very easy to get a good sound.
Okay, that was the most comprehensive comparison video I've seen of these amps. Awesome job. And I'm still torn on which to get! Lol
I've ruled out the DSL, but I really like different characteristics of the other 3. They all sound good, & all have their individual strengths. Damn.
Been wishing someone would do this, great work man!
Glad you like it! :)
Excellent comparison. Love the plexi, but probably getting the DSL for now. Great Job.
They all sound great in your hands. Excellent demo!
well that was hands down the best comparison i have seen.. really hi lighted the tonal differences and similarities.. now i know for sure the SC is for me. thanks
Outstanding playing. This is the format that comparative demos should all follow. I can only guess the number of hours to put this together. I have been on the fence with the DSL and I have to say, you've made my mind up - if I can get half as close to your tone, I'll be happy. Great job.
Did you get one? Im trying to decide myself
Digging that sv20h. Definitely gonna keep my eyes open for one of those! Great video! 🎸👍
very interesting video mate, that LTD is a very versatile guitar, perfect option for this amp comparison.
great job as always!!
I was listening to how the Plexi didn't have that upper "fizz" on that classic crunch tone. Really like that! The 800 and the 252H both sound like the gain needs to be backed off a hair, almost like a blurry image where the plexi and surprisingly the DSL both sounded clearer yet still had that great Marshall crunch...very cool. I think also if they weren't back to back like that you may not notice, but in this demo i heard it right away
Your demos are really good! The only thing that I would add are tracks that are not doubled so one can just hear just the amp and not a wide stereo version.
What a fantastic demo but they really do sound very similar. I’ve played the SV20H and SC20C and they sounded very different from each other in real life. So I guess the cab influences the sound much more than the amp. I’m also a single coil player, Strats and Teles, so that mixes it up as well. I prefer the SC20 both in your video and in real life. Thanks 👍🤘🤘🤘
Just what I needed in a perfect amp demo! I would go for SC20H if I had to choose. However no bad sound in this demo.
I know it's not the popular opinion, but I preferred the DSL20. It's got a special "something" in the upper mids.
I'm a metal guy though.
Less central mids intense for sure.
Me too
I think the dsl seems like a good all rounder
Same here. It wasn’t as compressed as the others and sounded more full in the higher gain mixes. The Silver Jubilee sounded pretty good too, but a tad too compressed imo.
@@guitarexpert2245 whatcha got?
I am hear again to listen to the riff, amazing playing, love you bro.
Excellently produced four-amp, three-tone, back to back comparison. Captured screenshots of the tone settings for reference too. Thanks!~
Great comparison.
Went back and forth multiple times between them. The SV has the most open sound and tone separation esp. in the crunchy chords. Very noticable so.
Thanks for this great and really thorough comparison! It was a pleasure to listen to as well. All of them are great, but I prefer the SV for its unmistakable bright, cutting and beautifully dynamic tone. SC close second with the those classic, beefy rock tones. And the dsl is a great bang for the buck all around workhorse indeed. Silver Jubilee has incredible leads imo.
Thank You 🙏🏼 Absolutely Awesome ! Now I can make up my mind and I Greatly Appreciate Your TALENT and PLAYING !!! 🎸❤️👍🏻🙏🏼
Well done! Excellent side-by-side comparison! I currently have a DSL15H and have been looking at the DSL20H as I've heard it's an upgrade to the 15 in terms of tone, etc. But I have to say, of all the amps here, I like the SV20H 1959SLP the best. Very clear and transparent, you can really hear everything played whereas the other amps sounded slightly fizzier/fuzzier/darker in comparison.
If you have an attenuator, you can get a pretty good plexi tone by cranking the green channel on the DSL 15. The only big issues with the 15 is the lack of an fx loop, and the fact the red channel has way too much gain, there’s a gain reducing tube you can get for its V1 position and it made me pretty satisfied with mine.
Great demo vids ! sounds fab!
Awesome job man, mini plex sounds great.
Great Video and comparison, much thanks! For my money, I'm buying the DSL. I've been debating which 20 watt amp to buy and this pushed me over the edge. :)
Great tones and riffs! Well done. I liked the first amp best 👍
A really well done video! I've played some of these in RL and they sound more different than they do here. They all sound great to me, although I think I like the SV best and then the Jube. They'd be a great combination. The 800 sounds good too but I don't know, I think there are better options for the price out there featurewise.
Amazing comparison, you did an amazing job, thank you very much
I own the mini jubilee. Since I bought my Mesa Boogie MK7, I’ve been kinda ignoring it but this video has totally inspired me to jam on it! Thanks!
Great demo, great playing and I want them all...
best amp demos on the tube
Nice video and cool riffs!
The best comparison video by far!
What an absolutely phenomenal video!!!
Great video! I really enjoyed it! They all sound awesome. I’ve always loved Marshall’s. I own a DSL 20 head with a vertical 212 cab. It’s great clean or dirty with my Strat or Gibson guitars. The 2525H is the one other than mine I’d love to have as well but agin they’re all top notch amps.
Excellent review and playing. Still making my final decision before purchasing. Thanks for sharing 😀
TURN THAT DYNAMIC CLEAN INTO A FULL SONG PLESE GODDAMMIT IT'S SO GOOD AAAAAAAAA I NEED IT
Man, such a great comparison here - Thumbs up! Marshall is so reach in harmonics and has the most recognizable tone by far if comparing to other amps! All Amps sound great in this video, for me personally Silver Jube is the BEST fit for its flexibility and an ability to follow each of his small brothers tonaly with only a few potis' moves. It is such a great amp, guys! I own the 2555X for this very reason, I'm probably still yet to discover why Bonamassa, Frusciante, Steve Morse, Slash and bnuch of other guys are using Jube. For now, I know that you should first let the amp run for 10 mins for tubes to warm up, then plug in a really good attenuator - yeah, Marshall is a Marshall and needs to be pushed with at least 70% of the power to reach to an optimal working point for power tubes. I did it this week after owning Jube for 1 year with no attenuator - this is a totally different beast now! Playing at home / small stage / gigs guys with 50W even (can reduce power from 100W to 50W) is still like a thunder in a quiet forest! I tell you, SPL Cabulator + Marshall Jube = perfect combination! ..and I own also Marshall Vintage Modern 100W, DSL 2000 50W, couple of other brands. It seems like I will always come back to Marshalls, despite the fact there is a number of such great amps nowadays - Marshall plays with a roar, with such an overwhelming tone like only a few others can. "If I stand in front of my Marshall and my balls aren't shaking, I ain't satisfied". This is what I remember from Kerry King playing his JCM 800. Rock on!
Awesome, never seen a better review 👍👍
Best review of anything, ever!
They all sound great.. for the best bang for the buck is that DSL.. Held up in the mix and iso. Impressed
Incredibly informative, thanks!
I have the DSL and really dig it. Peace
They all sound almost identical. Surprising!
All sound very good. I have an original 50 watt jubilee combo and a 73 100 watt head. For all around natural tone I still lean towards the 4-input Vintage amp. Some times the Jubilee can sound a little to dense and the natural clarity of the guitar gets buried if you are not careful. But, the Jubilee is a more varied when you put a pedal in front of it, much easier to get a balanced voicing at lower volumes.
Finally, thanks so much so awesome!!!
Great review and playing!! I would have seen also the Origin 20H in it...
Great comparison - the Marshall Origin 20 would been very interesting to match too.
I totally agree!!
I had it and regardless of how cheap it costs or where it is made, I actually had to return it because it was too freaking loud! The tones were spot on Plexi but you'd better budget for an attenuator!
Agree. There's a 50w Origin half stack 4x12 right up the street for $600 and that shit is new. I have no need for it. Stop me before I go get it and pretend it's always been there lol. Great review bro!!
IMO, having owned one, the Origin isn't in the same league as any of these. I found mine to be the thinnest, lifeless Marshall I've ever experienced. Absolutely no balls to it whatsoever.
Volume? Sure, plenty of volume, but useful? Nah, not at all. Effects loop was also the worst I've ever used.
"But the cost!" well if you want the Marshall aesthetic as a decoration, you've got that. It looks pretty good.
"Nails that plexi vibe." No. No it doesn't. It doesn't come remotely close. I thought for sure that I could eq it, and use any of my pedals to get me into usable tone - nope. I also couldn't get any bass out of it. Tried every cab I own (1x12s, 2x12s, and my beloved basketweave 4x12 loaded with the excellent Hellatone 25s) with it all with the same result.
Put alongside my JTM45, it's just not even a fair fight. Yes, the JTM is much more expensive, but there's no changing the facts. The JTM is what a proper plexi sounds like. The Origin is the worst amp I've ever owned, and I've owned a LOT of amps over the course of my 30 years of playing.
Hear that chunk, that chug (albeit in the plexi vein, of the SC here? THAT is what you want.
@@stratolestele7611 really? I’ve gotten some pretty convincing tones out of my 50 albeit I’m running 6CA7’s instead of EL34’s. Running through a slightly deeper 2061cx clone with v30’s. I turn everything up except the bass which I keep at 9 o’clock. Gain is around 3-4 o’clock. Presence is up for extra bite and the tilt is used as a generalized EQ adjustment. Boosting the front with a morning glory, low gain and high treble and it sounds pretty nice. Obviously not a jtm45 or plexi but it gets in the ballpark when dialed in.
Another fantastic review/comparison. It's hard to split the 800 and the plexi for the most part, only when you want a bit more saturation, the 800 delivers, the Silver Jubilee has a slightly different flavour and probably the most tonally versatile. The DSL is nice sounding, but I think if I were to choose (based on what I'd want to add to the amp collection based on what I have), the Plexi would be the one I'd go for
and it looks the nicest
Epic reviews, best Ive ever seen 👍👍
the Marshall DSL20hr has one of the best clean tone ever to my ears, i tried it and i love it!
All of them sound really good, but I just really like the thicker but not overtly modern sound of the 2525 here. It just ticks all the right boxes for these types of riffs playes here moreso than the others to my ears. Also it looks super nice as a bonus!
Awesome playing, and great review no crap, whatsoever.
They all sound great. I've got SC20, Dsl100, tsl 60 JVM100 and jcm900. They all sound brilliant in their own way but I really want the SV20 now.
Nice to hear your voice for the first time cool
appreciate the effort here, sir
Best demo video so far for these amps (considering the DSL20HR - seems to hold its own!)
You get some great tones out of these amps (like with everything else I've seen you do). The SV20H is becoming very popular, in fact it's sold out in most of the UK currently. I'd love to see a video with the some drive pedals in front of the SV20H to see whether it's versatile enough to be a metal powerhouse.
Tom, Marshall production lines are back up and running so if anyone puts in an order for a SV20H at an authorised dealer they will not have to wait too long for delivery.
I've got one on back order rite now.
Thank You ! :-) Your vidos always very nice for knowing about right sound !! God bless you !
