Elliot was sexually abused by his father, thats how mr robot came into existence. Later in life other personalities developed. The mastermind is the one we see almost always, keeping elliot himself locked away in a beautiful fantasy world where everything is perfect, while the mastermind is in the real world, trying to clean it up for Elliot. But, unfortunately, the mastermind, in the process, forgets his place and assumes Elliot's identity. Thats the story guys.
