Band of Friends - A Celebration Of The Music Of Rory Gallagher
Gerry McAvoy (Bass Guitar & Vocals),
Paul Rose (Guitar),
Zac Schulze (Guitar & Vocals),
Brendan O'Neill (Drums).
Superb concert, just phenomenal, leaving the crowd wanting more. All musicians played their heart out, first class show, perfect ending to a Saturday night.

Rory Gallagher è l’uomo che, senza ombra di dubbio, ha guidato e influenzato tutto il movimento rock irlandese. La sua musica è diventata una religione ed ha catturato tutto il pubblico dal Nord Europa alla Spagna, dal Giappone agli Stati Uniti, coprendo ogni parte del globo e producendo alcuni dei migliori album rock/blues degli anni ‘60, ‘70 e ‘80. Sorprendente come, a 28 anni dalla sua morte, la sua musica non sia mai stata così popolare come ora grazie ai suoi fedeli seguaci che continuano a mantenerla viva, basti pensare alle numerose band che sono nate in tributo a lui e alla sua musica.
La sezione ritmica è formata da due musicisti che hanno contribuito a dischi e concerto di Gallagher, considerato tra i migliori chitarristi rock blues di sempre. Gerry McAvoy ci ha vissuto insieme per vent’anni, dal ’71 al ’91, suonando in ogni album firmato dal fuoriclasse irlandese scomparso nel ’95 . Nel 2005 ha pubblicato un libro di memorie, «Riding shotgun». Brendan O’Neill (Batteria) è cresciuto con lui a Belfast e si sono ritrovati nella band di Rory anni dopo.
The Band of Friends non è un tributo a Rory ma una celebrazione alla sua vita e alla sua musica.

Going to see Band of Friends once again at the Flowerpot Derby on Saturday 11th November 2023. It’s great that Rory’s music is still being enjoyed. I had the privilege of knowing Rory during the early days when Taste played gigs in Belfast. Thank you Gerry for keeping Rory’s music alive and see you at the Flowerpot.

vielen dank für diese aufnahme des konzerts, wenn es auch ein paar ruckler und filmschnitte gab! zac schulze ist der fußstapfennachfolger von rory gallagher mit dem sprungbrett von band of friends, - zac schulze hat eine markige stimme, paßt sehr gut, ist mal was ganz anderes, er spielt sehr gut seine gitarre mit glühendem eifer, die band spielt eh gut, es ist ein genuß, rory‘s musik live zu erleben, wir sind gespannt, was uns noch mit dieser band erwartet. 🎸🥁🎼🎤
