Such a beautiful song! It helps bring back memories of my loved ones who are in Heaven and won't be here for Christmas. It's been a hard year for my family, we lost 3 members in the last 13 months. Although it brought some tears to my eyes, I'm so thankful for all the wonderful memories this song brought up❤

Okay so totally Random. But the first time i heard this rendition was in highschool (2015?) I had started playing Skyrim for the first time,was able to open one gift early and it was that. I had the radio on the Christmas station*because i always liked Christmas music and Christmas was literally a day or two away* and this song came on and completely blew me away. Mixed with exploring the snowy terrains of the throat of the world, that was truly the last moment i felt that Christmas magic...matter of fact im pretty sure that was our last Christmas as a family
This album is Christmas to me and my family. It's just not Christmas without it.

As a US vet being stationed over seas and being away from my wife for our first Christmas , this song brings back my sadness of that day .
This song will be the Christmas song for so many who cannot come home because of Covid19 including myself I have not seen my son since last year and will not for Christmas this year but he will be with me in my heart and dreams Merry Christmas to everyone let's hope the next one will be a much better one and no more tears and a lot less heartache for the world
people who worked or served in different branches of the military or worked in harsh or long job conditions, being far from their families for Christmas and always thought of going home for Christmas is the embodiment of this song. Thanks to all who served and to protect this country.

I had this CD and i would listen to it every 🎄 Christmas as my Dad was dying from Cancer and my mother was very sick and dying they both lived in an Assisted living facility I cried every 🎄 Christmas listeing to this Beautiful song.Both my parents have since passed and now I listen to this song in rememberance of my Oldest Brother Dr Desmond Nunan who died of a Brain annyuerism so now I listen to this song remembering all of my 👪 I 💘 you Mom And Dad and Desmond my brother God Bless all of our Military Thank you for your service my Dad was in the military also This is BEAUTIFUL AND AMAZING SONG

It’s so sad so many people were not home for Christmas this year. The people talking in this song make me want to cry, knowing they cannot be with their families in person. I’m very sure it’s horrible for both parties.

This song came out during WW2 . My Mom told me how it made her feel each Christmas my Dad was gone . Can't help but think of them together on their first Christmas after he returned home . This is one of the most touching versions of this song . As always Josh is the best !
ftmillguy this is probably an odd response as your original comment was made over two years ago, and it is also currently June, which is not a normal time it be listening to Christmas music... but regardless, I have a fact! This song was actually released during the interwar period, but it was not successful at all. It was then re released during WWII and became an instant success because it was so incredibly relevant and relatable for so many families.

Hearing the service men and women speaking always makes the waterworks run for me. Reminds me of when one of my best friends was deployed to the Middle East years ago and he wasn’t home for Christmas

I really love this music, my Dad was in the Air Force from 2001 to 2005, but he didn't go off to war, and the same thing he went in the Army, he told me the reason why he didn't go, he thinks that God doesn't want Dad to go to war, I believe he want my Dad to stay, because we want him around with us, and I'm glad God spared his life, and he never got back in the military ever again.
