I agree with your approach to political journalism, with the caveat that too many journalists nowadays, presume to know what’s best for the country. Ultimately, governance is a pragmatic endeavour. It seems many journalists are in the thrall of ideology, and hopelessly biased.

They were nobody’s in the ALP compared to both Curtin and Chifley. Still today both of them are the heart and soul of the ALP.
That's true Curtin and Chifley are legends compared to Evatt and Calwell. But both men did play notable roles in their own right.
