I purchased a 2000 last year for $800. It lasted 45 minutes. It ended up costing me another $1500, including tow truck costs. I bought a new car, but i still held onto it. I look forward to putting love into my toy. I was initially discouraged about making it a project since it wasn't a 3.2, but this video has given me the gusto i needed.

My old 2004 225 TT I sold last month had a gt28rs, changed rods, valves upgraded, fuel system bla bla bla bla and made around 400bhp. Reason I sold it was because I spent years, 1000’s of £/$ then went in a 550bhp mk1 tt and I wasn’t that impressed. Made me realise that I would forever be chasing numbers.

    • @BlaxJakx

The money from the TT I spent on Mods & tuning for my BMW 335i. 600bhp daily which actually feels fast as it looks on paper, makes me wish I never sunk so much money into that mk1 tt when the wife’s £/$300 stage 1 map on her Golf R would literally shit all over my old tt. The golf r is heavier, made 50bhp less than my tt, the golf r had normal 95ron/octane fuel map and the tt overall on paper a quicker car, much quicker but in real life it was a brick.

Hey man! Personally if you’re driving your 225 daily, I would buy another block to start with. Then do a bit of research on what power you’re looking to get so you can select a turbo. I’d then send the block to be forged and be fully built to your spec for your selected power. Not cheap at all but that way you can build in stages! 👊🏻

The stock pistons can handle over 500-600 hp. Only thing you have to change on a 1.8t is the rods and exhaust valves to stronger ones. The stock intake valves can handle over 800hp. Then pick a turbo and clutch that’s the cheapest you can built it without breaking the bank.
